  1. I'm not much of an exerciser but 3 months ago I started using the treadmill and used it every day religiously for 6 weeks. It was hard to start but once I started, I actually enjoyed it. I worked up to 45 minutes a day doing 2 miles. I didn't lose an ounce of weight but that was because it really kicked in my metabolism and made me so hungry I consumed even more food. I didn't gain weight, but I didn't lose. I got so discouraged I quit. I plan on starting again this weekend because I do miss the feeling of euphoria after a good work out.

    Help - Kindda weak

It looks like depending on the doctor, diets, post-op visits and fills differ considerably. I got banded on 7/16 and started feeling really weak and tired yesterday (thought I'd pass out every other minute and really scared myself on the road). Once I got home and ate some sauteed tofu, I felt better (probably ate too much). I am feeling a bit weak today too but not as much as yesterday. My post op diet was 24-48 hours liquids then mushy food for a week; then soft foods for the next 3 weeks (no meat except fish). I don't have any pain and my incisions are healing (self-dissolving sutures). I'm supposed to call Dr. Spivak's office around the 4th week to schedule my first fill if I need it and I wish I could get it now because I am STARVING.

Okay Seriously how much do you eat?

I had my surgery 6 days ago and I'm starving all the time. I do limit myself to 1/2 to 1 cup of mushies and that satisfies me but within 1 -2 hours I'm starving again. Please tell me that once I get the first fill I won't be starving so much. I did lose 8.5 lbs since the surgery but I haven't lost anything in the past 3 days (haven't gained either).

Looking for Help in Houston Texas

Hi, I'm new to this and am also looking for a lap band mentor. I got banded on 7/16/08 by Dr. Spivak. BTW, does anyone know how long it takes for the bloating from the surgery to die down?
  6. Speaking of 1st period after banding; how is the flow? Is it the same or is it lighter/heavier?
  7. Statiscally, I've been told the average loss is 50% of excess weight loss, long term. Clearly some do better and some do worse. I got banded on 7/16/08 and plan on succeeding. I think attitude makes a big difference.

Lack of support? Taunted with food?

I thought bread, past and rice were forbidden? At least they are on the forbidden list fron Dr. Spivak's office.
  9. Hi Melissa. I just got banded by Dr. Spivak on July 16, 2008. I was wondering how you were doing now. Have yoiu reached your goal and are you still a part of the monthly support group at Dr. Spivak's office?

    How does it feel?

    what does PBing mean?
  11. Sorry to hear about your bowel back up Patunia. Triple Leaf Super Slimming Herbal Tea works better than any other laxative I've ever tried. Guaranteed to have a movement within 8 hours and once you start, you may go a couple of times within the same hour and then you're back to normal.

    Just got banded on 7/16/08

I don't know if it's because I have a killer toothache but I have no more discomfort at all from the surgery. I can "feel" the port and the incisions sites are itching (I guess they are healing). Coincidentally, I got an infection in my lower left molar and it's hurting so bad that I don't really notice any other discomforts.
  13. Hello everyone. I just got banded on Wednesday by Dr. Spivak in Houston, Texas. I am surprised at how hungry I am. I didn't have a great deal of pain and today I feel almost normal except for the gas bloating. Has anyone else in here felt hungry right after the banding?
  14. I'm scared to eat because I'm terrified that I will stretch my pouch and cause band slippage. It's a bit weired to be afraid to eat. Does anyone else have this fear?
  15. I thought it might be cool to have a thread going with those that were banded by Dr. Spivak. I'm new so there may already be one on this site which I haven't found already; if so, please let me know.
  16. Saw that you are in the burbs of Houston and thought it'd be great if we could be support buddies.

    Fear of Food?

My Dr. said liquids for just 24-48 hours. Now on soft mushy food for the next 3 weeks. No meat except fish. I'm hungry all the time but I'm pysched about losing 8.5 pounds in 4 days. That's never happened before on any diet. I began eating tomato soup with a bit of fish and mashed potatos smashed in (MRS Dash for seasoning) and it was incredibly good but it took me 20 minutes to eat 1 cup because i chewed and chewed the fish until there literally was nothing left to swallow. The whole time I was eating, I was afraid.

    opinions on weight loss rate....

Do you find that when you exercise you get hungrier? Before my banding I exercised and felt great but did not lose any weight because it really kicked in my metabolism and made me so hungry that I ate more food so whatever I burned off, I consumed in excess calories.

only want to lose 50 lbs...

In your quote you say band got you to your goal and the sleeve will keep you there. Can you explain the sleeve comment?
  20. Donna113

    Can I lose 116 lbs??

Wow, Becky! You are an inspiration! I got banded on 7/16/08 and have lost 9 lbs so far. I am a bit concerned that the average is 50% of excess weight loss and am hoping/planning on reaching my goal.
  21. What is PBing? I got banded 7/16/08 so most of this is new to me.
  22. I was banded on 7/16/08 by Dr. Spivak in Houston, TX. He has 24-48 hours liquids, then 4 weeks of soft, mushy foods (no meat except fish that can be mushed into baby food consistency). I am hungry but do get full fast on very little food; then hungry again within a couple of hours.
