What a bizarre response. He was only a friend for 3 years but because you started dating someone, he dumped you as a friend? Was he looking into getting you to join his celibacy for life group or something? Seems a really strange response unless he thought you guys were dating and was just taking it very, very slow in the physical intimacy area.

Appetite suppressants with the lap band? Isn't the lap band supposed to be the appetite suppressant? What is the name of the suppressant? I might ask my doctor about it if the next fill doesn't do it for me.
-
No trouble with any food unless I eat it too fast (sometimes I forget I have a band). I don't drink with meals, I wait a minimum of 30 minutes and usually 45 minutes before I start drinking water after a meal. People keep telling me it's head hunger but it's my stomach yelling at me and not my taste buds. Sometimes I can be engrossed in something and I feel the hunger start and build and build and build. It's not like I see something and all of a sudden have cravings.
-
I tried to post a poll and even though I clicked the option it didn't give me the opportunity.
-
I'm starting to get a bit freaked out by all the "failure" stories on the forum. Janet, I believe you said you have good restriction but you still have hunger. Can you explain?
-
What kind of swallowing are you talking about?
-
JRFan88, do you still feel restriction or is it time for a 4th fill?
-
That's great to hear. I've had 2 fills so far (the 2nd was 3 days ago) and I don't feel any restriction so I'm thinking it's going to take me at least 3 fills. I have an out of town business trip to Denver scheduled for the week of 9/15 so I don't want to risk getting a 3rd fill before the trip and then experiencing overtightness while I'm out of town so I was thinking I will wait until I get back from my trip to schedule the 3rd fill.

So Does This Really Work For Food Addicts(experienced bandits please)
Donna113 replied to speck's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks Brandy. I'm trying to remember I didn't pack on the pounds overnight and they won't be melting off overnight either. I read your inspirational story in the Lap Band Success Story Forum and felt very inspired. It was good to read it because lately there seems to be a lot of bad stories popping up in here and being a newbie, it's caused me to second guess the lapband. That on top of the uninspiring support group I went to earlier this week and my very slow weight loss since surgery. I'm told I'm in bandster hell but that once I break through it will really start to work for me. I was doing the C25K but my knee started acting up and the doctor told me with my RA, I cannot jog so I was told to rest the knee for a week and start back on walking. I plan on starting back on the walking tomorrow so hopefully that will lift my spirits. I was really enjoying the C25K and felt really depressed that I had to give it up. -

I'm waiting for that feeling. I had my second fill 3 days ago and don't feel restriction yet. -
As soon as I can get DH to download the pics from our digital camera I'll sattach it here. If I attacha it as an attachment, will it display in the message?
-
My husband thought DH stood for "da&ned husband" LOL I told him I thought it was "Darling Husband" and he just rolled his eyes....
-
PJ, I feel exactly the same as you. I even had my second fill yesterday for a total of 3.5 in an 8 cc band and I still don't feel much restriction but I certainly do feel HUNGRY. I thought the band was supposed to help us with our hunger so we can successfully limit our portions. I keep being reassured that the first 2 to 3 months are difficult for a lot of people but if I just stick to the rules, I'll get through to the other side and will start seeing some good results.

Do you take off your shoes?

Yes, you still remove your shoes. -
Do you take off your shoes?
Donna113 replied to argon's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
We don't wear shoes in our house and also take them off when we go to others' houses. My mother is Korean and Asians do not wear shoes in the house. My husband is Icelandic and Icelanders do not wear shoes in the house either so it was never an issue for us. Our kids automatically take off their shoes when they go into any house and they also ask their friends to take off their shoes when they come into our house. My husband and I do not ask our adult guests to take off their shoes, but most ask and we tell them whatever is more comfortable for them and they take that as a hint that they should take off their shoes. For the ones who still don't after we say that, we figure it's cause they have stinky feet. LOL I have noticed that service people either take off their shoes or put on cloth booties before they enter our home. For the occasional service guy who doesn't do either, I ask them to take it off. I don't want to make guests uncomfortable but I have no qualms about asking service people to respect the cleanliness of my house. -

RE: How many calories per day after Lap-Band?
Donna113 replied to dfox3325's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc is saying 800 calories a day. I thought that was low, especially considering his literature post surgery said 800-1200 so I thought maybe it was just me he said that to but no, at my support group last night everyone said he told them the same thing as well. I personally think 800 is too low and considering the fact that I got my second fill yesterday and still have no restriction, nearly impossible to do. I'm thinking 1,000 is reasonable so that's what I'm going to shoot for now. -

She's angry because she failed. Angry people lash out. I guess it's better for her to lash out here rather than do something harmful to herself or someone else. -
Thanks, Stephanie. What you say sounds like the more honorable route than just skipping out on the group. However, as much as I want and need a face to face group, I just don't think this is the right group for me (the chemistry isn't right or maybe I'm the bad apple in the mix). I am going to try to find other support groups in the area and keep coming to this site. Thank you Lucky Sevens for being such an inspiration and being so understanding of the whining newbie.

I can eat 3 cups of food at a meal if I allowed myself but I try to stop myself at 1 1/2 cups. I'm not at a point where I can handle stopping at 1 cup. Oftetimes, it's about 2 cups of food before I stop myself (not the band because I just don't feel it).
-
That's only 7 small bottles of Water a day. It's easy to drink that much so long as you always have a bottle at hand and sip from it. Yes, you do use the bathroom more, but that is good because then you are flushing toxins and hopefully fat cells out of your body. It sounds like a lot, but honestly, if you just make sure you have that bottle by your side and sip all day you won't have any problems getting in 3.5 liters. BTW, I use the same bottle and just refill it. I don't want to overfill our landfills.

Wow.. sorry about the run on sentences. I'm just feeling all pent up inside.

3 of the bandsters are 1 year + but only one has reached goal, the other 2 lost 45 and 60 lbs respectively. There are about 3 other bandsters who've been banded between 4-6 months and they've lost 20 and 35 lbs respectively. The 1 year+ bandsters who lost 45 and 60 haven't lost an ounce in 5 months or more. They all still look grossly overweight and whatever they are doing, it clearly isn't working. They sit around and talk about which protein shake/shot is best and our doctor has specifically told us NOT to drink protein shakes but THEY all do it and the group leader says nutritionists reccomend it and she agrees with them because she's going to school to be a nutritionist and it says you have to get 60-80 grams of protein a day and it's too difficult to get it from eating if you are trying to keep your calories between 800-1,000. This is basically what was discussed in both meetings and it's kind of chaotic and there is one guy in there (the one who lost 135 lbs) who's just smart alecky and rude and interrupts everyone. They all pretty much have an attitude and treat me and one other new girl as if we're idiots and yet proportionately and timewise, if you average it out, me and the other new girl are actually doing better than they have. Anyway, I just don't like them and find them depressing. I want to be around people who are on the road to success or those that have already succeeded because right now I need inspiration because I'm in major bandster hell. Got my 2nd fill yesterday and I'm still hungry and have no restriction and feel like so far the band hasn't done anything for me except bleed my wallet.

Why do we follow a LF/SF diet after banding?
Donna113 replied to Maribelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Let's talk about "limited capacity". I don't feel it. I only felt it the first week post op. Today is my 7th week anniversary and I received my second fill yesterday for a total of 3.5 ccs in an 8 cc band. I feel no restriction whatsoever. I'm hungry and a bit frustrated because I got the band to help me with portion control and right now I'm fighting the hunger all on my own with no help from the band. Has anyone gone through this and if so, any words of advice?
