WHY are people voting for McCain?

Five? Male, Female, Other, Other, and Other?

I have 4.5 ccs in an 8 cc band. I don't think I'm ready for another fill but I need something to get myself back on track. After TOM leaves, I'm going to try the 5 Day Pouch Test.

WHY are people voting for McCain?

There's a difference between giving to charity and giving to the Government. I happily donate to charity as do my very young children. We're all a bunch of softies in our household when it comes to the needy. I don't consider paying taxes a charitable event. I pay taxes because if I don't, I go to jail. If I were given an option of paying $50,000 in taxes or giving $60,000 to a charity of my choice, I'd happily give $60,000 to charity. I'm not saying I'm against helping others, I'm saying I'm against giving my money to someone else to decide how that money should be spent. I want a choice in how my money is spent. I understand that for practical reasons, that won't work very well in a Republic the size of the USA; however, the less I pay in taxes, the more discretionary funds I have to give to charity and support my facvorite organizations.

What aliens are you hanging out with? Are you sure they're Americans? I can personally say that I've NEVER been happy about paying taxes, ever, at any salary. I can personally say I've never met anyone who was happy about paying taxes. I have friends and associates of all income levels and none of them were EVER happy about handing their money over to Uncle Sam. I start stressing mid March about April 15.

How much have you lost July Butterfllies??

I have been planning on doing this but wanted to wait until after TOM left because it's too difficult to be on any kind of diet while my TOM is visiting.

Gadgetlady, The Watcher, and all in between...

Many relationships end because people realize the first sentence too late after engaging too much in the second sentence.
  13. Clinton haters still hate Clinton after all these years and Bush haters will still hate Bush 8 years from now. Thankfully, most people don't think, breathe and feel political in their every day lives so once the election is over, I think the heightened sense of anger and frustration will also abate somewhat.
  14. Wow! What a difference in your b/a pics. Way to go!

Next year I am SO waiting until 2 hours before Trick or Treaters show up to buy candy. I've had that candy in here since Saturday (Costco shopping) and have dipped my hand in the bag at least a couple of times a day EVERY day since.

Thanks LJM. It was my attempt to answer the OP's question re: how are we going to create unity after the election? We all have one uniting factor here so I just wanted to remind everyone here that for all our differences, we all have something in common as well.

Gadgetlady, The Watcher, and all in between...

Here is something a bit off topic or maybe closer to topic than the recent postings... To be perfectly frank, I care more about myself and my weight loss journey than who becomes the next President of the USA. We're all here because we're all on the same journey. We may be at different mile markers on that highway, but we're all here for the same reason so I'm going to share the following post with you and hope to hear back from the rest of you on your progress to date: Hello, my name is Donna and I'm a slow loser... I've been banded for 3 1/2 months and have only managed to lose 20 lbs. 13 of those 20 lbs were in the first 2 weeks post op. That means I'm averaging 1/2 a lb a week (discounting the first 2 weeks). My weight loss process has been playing with the same 2-3 lbs for a couple of weeks before dropping them for good and then 2-3 lb cycle again. I was exercising until my knee flared up with an injury while doing the couch to 5 k challenge. The doctor told me to rest it for a week or 2 until the pain went away and then resume exercising. Well, that was 2 months ago and as predicted by the doctor, the pain did leave in 2 weeks of resting but I haven't resumed exercising. I'm committing to restart exercising on November 7.

I posted this on "Slow Losers Unite!" and in "July Butterflies Master Thread" and wanted to share it here as well for those who may also be "slow losers": Hello, my name is Donna and I'm a slow loser... Luluc, did you feel the earth move last night?
  22. Hi Marjorie, I hope you are doing well. I'm sending positive energy your way.
  23. I was not always fat. I grew up "normal" sized and stayed "normal" sized until I had my first child at 25. I got a bit chubby and couldn't take it off, then after I had my second child at 33 I got a LOT more chubby and switched to a very stressful job which added more pounds on until I eventually got FAT and reached my highest point of 213 which had me RUNNING to the lap band surgeon. I will admit that while I have sympathy for fat people (being one myself now) I have been prejudiced against fat people and still am to a certain degree. If I see someone who is really obese, it shocks and turns me off. Then I see a mirror and wonder who the hell is that fat chick. It's a sad, sad thing. . .
