I am n metformin and my specialist has recommended that even tho I'm losing wright and my blood sugars are stable at 5 I should stay on a small des for life. She says there is good research to show it keeps the beta cells awake which help you lose weight and protect your heart. I cut them in half and take them with tea and have had no problems .

Just when you think you have hit that spot
tipsyb replied to tipsyb's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Been for a further fill I'm up to 12.40 in my 14cc band and my nurse tells me that I'm doing fine. She thinks its psychological hunger and that I need to drink more fluids so that my brain keeps registering its full. I tried it today and it worked ! -
Green Zone - 8.2cc in my 10cc band Ideas?
tipsyb replied to toritz's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded in September 2012 and have lost fifty six pounds so far with another fifty six to go. I'm not on a diet I live like everyone else but each month I lose a little more. I'm up to 11.5 in a 14cc band and I'm just hitting the green spot. -
I am just going into year two of my aftercare package which is covered for fils . At the end of this I will have to pay , any ideas ?

I'm the same but losing weight slowly is the right way for me seriously.
-
I've never needed any numbing as its very quick.
-
I find that it takes about a week to get restriction after a fill. And it restricts further when I have a period.
-
I should have also said that my package has n limited fills for two years, so if it was all about profit they would have been cutting down the nurse time by filling it more aggressively, I've had everything from 1cc to .20 whilst we have searched for that magical spot lol.

Have you thought about over eaters anonymous , I have been a member for three years and find them very supportive and they understand my emotional eating. Your band will make np difference to them as its about learning to understand our feelings not what we are doing about our weight. You can google for your area. Each group is different but mine tends to be female only with the odd male member popping up. However the ones that do have exactly the same self esteem issues that we as females do. It's just a thought. T works for some and not for others.

Ten months and eight fills

I eat two plain biscuits in the morning with my medication, I'm diabetic and have high blood pressure. Then I normally eat at six in the evening, anything else won't stay down.

I was banded in sept 2012 and have lost three stone so far another three to go. I am a 11.5 cc of a 14cc band. It's been a really slow journey for me. This is a good thing as I'm not dieting I'm living , I rarely think of food and when I eat I'm slow and methodical, I put this down to me being a 'normal' eater now instead f the addict that I was. I've stopped seeing the goal as the massive weight loss and prefer the choice f life that I feel I now have.

I have had only support but I guess like all of you your not going to know what is said behind your back. I personally do not feel that the pre surgery advice is open or transparent in relation to what happens. I am not sorry that I had my band and I want people to know that is the best thong that has happened to me. I have lost three stone in ten months and have a further five to lose. It's slow but for the first time in my life I'm not gaining and I'm not on a diet. I eat when I want, I eat what I want but I just cannot eat a lot. I want people to know that there is light at the end of the tunnel and to keep going. For those who may be contemplating it, think of the long game and realise that this is about gaining honest control.

It's because of the fluid retention, it causes the band to swelling which in turn tightens the band
-
I'm not sure this s in the right place, but s anyone having problems with constipation? I'm really struggling.

Why does band tighten around menstral cycle?
tipsyb replied to show1980's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have learnt that I must be very careful around the time of my period as it definitely tightens. My nurse told me this is normal and to just to go back to mushy foods for a couple of days. -
I can't eat in the morning , it usually takes till after four in the afternoon to loosen
-
I have given up trying to eat in the morning and ave started taking vitamin supplements as well to ensure that I'm getting the right nutrients. I'm ok after four o clock and have to be careful about empty calories as sweets have no bother getting past the band !
-
I have noticed that as well. I find that I'm hopeless eating until after four in the day . My evening meal goes down no problem but before then I invariably PB.
