This the story so far five stone iff three to go
tipsyb replied to tipsyb's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I feel so much better and my diabetes and blood pressure are under control. -
I'm way past caring what people think anymore lol, the way I see it is that I am saving my life, diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol ect ect , the side effect is weight loss. I am down to the last three stone and I'm expecting at some stage the " ypu have lost too much now" conversations. These are the issues of others not me. I'm too busy recovering to recover anyone else.

I had a work colleague say in a meeting, oh I heard you had lost weight you have done it before though so what's different this time ? In a roomful of people I replied "a gastric band" one very red face and a round of congratulations!
-
I started by not drinking with meals and I find that I can't drink with meals now.

I so feel for you , you gave been through so much , I'm happy to talk anytime through my email which us here. Find a surgeon who ypu feel will help. -
Yes your going to lose weigh but it's about a new way of living and being. All of us have lost weight many times before and then put it back on. So we can all lose weight. I had the band because I could not keep the weight off not because I could not lose weight.

Is The Band Really Failing You, Or Are You Failing The Band?

I had simply no professional advice that was worth having . I have spoken to a dietician three times in thirteen months and have never been asked how I am managing in a way that would suggest any real thought has gone into the after are. However this us my body and my brain. I can read and I can ask and I can seek advice. I can try and find out by trying and either being successful or pbbbbing ! Either way these are all my choices and my success or fail. -

Hello from a 2nd time round, from Uk
tipsyb replied to debbiekuhn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's nice to see that there are a few of us from the uk on here. -
And me I gained initially
-
I have taken anti depressant medication in the past and was warned about weight gain, however whilst there is a possibility of weight gain if you are sensible in your eating and exercise I have many friends who are taking psychotropic medication and have not gained . So I would suggest that you call your doctor and give yourself a break from the worry. You are very brave and deserve to be happy as well as slim !
-
This is not about weight loss it's about a lifestyle change that is permanent. I have taken thirteen months to lose five stone and another three to go. I have learnt lessons on keeping it off for the future and to control my emotional eating. It's a daily challenge but you will get there . Good luck.

It does settle but your right after a fill they do become more pronounced.
-
I completely agree with na na I really would contact the manufacturer about this. I'm sure you are fine but procedures are there for a reason.
-
I still struggle with getting stuck as well, yesterday was terrible and kept on trying to eat eventually managing at about ten at night. It's not an easy journey and at the mome nt I'm seriously thinking if giving up.
-
Took me nine fills
-
-
Yes it does swell and can affect eating so hang on in there.
-
Only once after a dozen fills can I say it hurt and even then it was a sharp quick pain. So really nothing to worry about.
