    First fill

I'm not sure since I didn't eat solids for a couple of days. I expected to feel it immediately bc my nurse asked how my swallow was after drinking water.

I just had my 1st fill on 12/26. I was on liquid for a day, soft food a day. I'm now back on solids and yes I can tell a difference.

    Surgery Friday and 16lbs down!!

    Congratulations..keep it up!
  5. My employer will not approve my sick days for surgery (only 2 days requested) due to my doctors letter that shows that I would have restrictions of "no heavy lifting (above 20 pounds for 6 weeks)!! I was told that my director could have approved this return to work as the decision is mainly at his discretion but he did not. As a therpist, I don't even lift anything and I feel that it is ridiculous for them to be so inflexible. I wish I would have thought this through more carefully and just taken 2 sick days (including weekend) and this would be a non-issue as they don't even require a doctors not if you are not out for 3 days. I was just trying to prepare for any exceptions by letting them know I was having surgery, considering the risks of having a surgery overall. I am not yet eligible for FMLA, but I will be in Mid November. I was scheduled for surgery 10-19-12 originally, but have rescheduled it for November 16. Can you believe that I will be forced to take 6 weeks off due to this restriction?? How disruptive will this be to my team-coworkers? Then again, at least my employment will be protected. I was told that I will not have to do all my preop stuff again-just the labs. Thanks for letting me vent!
  6. Yes I have only been here 11 months, I will qualify for FMLA next month.
  7. I do mental health/psychiatric therapy/ talk therapy.
  8. Thanks Everyone for your support. I am still researching this and hoping that I don't need to take all of my time off and that they will accomodate me when I go for surgery next month.

    I Dont Know Anymore

My husband was totally against it at first. He thought that I just needed to be patient and wait for all this weight to come off. We both knew it would be quite some time..but...patience was his expectation. But he offered me a challenge to do everything I could to lose weight over a 6 month period; in turn, he agreed that he would support me 100%. I kept my word by sticking to my low carb dieting and exercising (walking) regularly. Yes, I have lost weight, although I have so much more to lose. However, I also started having problems with my knee in the interim and found out that my knee cap is off track! I started physical therapy trying to prevent surgery and my doctor does not want me to walk much or to overdo my exercise at this point. We both became so concerned about my knee-the fact that I may not even be able to walk if I don't hurry and get some weight off my knees. My husband is my biggest supporter. He now helps me keep things in perspective about WHY I need to do this surgery when I express uncertainty. He reminds me- "You want to be able to still walk in a year, right- you don't want to end up in a Hov-A-Round (sp) in your 40's, right. Lets just make it happen because it's necessary." So remember, to focus on the reason you considered this and then do what is best for you.

  17. Congratulations! I received a phone call yesterday stating that I have been approved as well. Next step is contacting my doctors office for Pre-OP appointment. Kinda scared of surgery, but at the same time, scared of the alternative!
