I also got my first fill yesterday. My port is right under the skin and cam be felt easily but it was flipped over AND sideways. She had to really manipulate it to try to flip it, which hurt bad. They try not to use lidocaine but will if necessary. She finally dis and that was much better. Had to stick me twice. Like someone else said, it's important to lay flat with your knees down. Mine is pretty sore today but I'm sure it won't last.

Kateeryn, thank you for sharing your experience. It's encouraging.

Untamed, one more question: how much is a serving? 1 cup?

I am a horrible cook and have a couple questions: 1. Do the skins from the beans and peppers not get stuck in the band? 2. Is it still necessary to puree if you're not on mushies? I mean, is pureeing what makes it a soup as opposed to just a pot of beans?

Remember Greek yogurt can replace sour cream. It has the same texture, similar taste (I can't really tell the difference) and adds protein!

Barbm1366, I use a protein powder to make my drinks. If you use SF almond milk instead of water, you get a richer drink plus a gram of protein and fiber for only 30 calories. Then you add 1-2 tablespoons of dry FF SF jello pudding mix to make it more flavorful and thick. I also add frozen berries or other fruit and frozen spinach just to increase vitamins. And finally, I add a packet of splenda because I want the extra sweetness. HTH!

Could someone please modify this for a bandster? I need a week's worth of simple daily meal plans. High protein, of course.

I'm 4 weeks post-op and sometimes have a stabbing pain under my left rib cage after eating. My port in on my right side. Any thoughts?

Mkb, have you tried other proteins besides chicken? Many people say they can't tolerate chicken once banded. My guess is that by "the bad stuff" you mean sliders. If that's the case, can you tolerate fish? Blended chili? Greek yogurt? FF Refried beans? Cheeses? Hummus? Laughing cow cheese? Turkey bacon? All of these proteins (except the turkey bacon) are soft and should slide well like "bad stuff". You might try experimenting with these foods to see how you tolerate them. If your band can't tolerate these, then speak with your doc and explore what's going on. Or if you're preferring the bad stuff over these proteins then you might have some emotional attachment to the bad foods. If that's the case, I highly recommend www.shrinkyourself.com. Good luck and keep exploring ways to succeed. And treat yourself to some chili from Wendy's today!

Welcome! You will learn a lot by reading posts and asking questions. Many in here are very friendly and happy to help. -
I use one by Oneida I got at Wal mart about $25. Just bought last week. Things to look for: Digital is a must, weighs in grams and ounces, and has a bowl or container to hold food while measuring. Also may want to look for a scale that uses regular batteries (Like AA). This Oneida one uses those more expensive disc batteries.

How long were folks off work?
Pebbagirl replied to lynner99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would have needed a full work week, possibly two. (I own my business and can take as much as I want) -
Multi vitamin and calcium. That's it.

What was the afternoon of your surgery like?
Pebbagirl replied to dolphintattoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was first case at 7:30 AM. I am highly sensitive to many meds and especially anesthesia. I left the surgery center around noon and immediately fell asleep sitting up in bed (which I can never do) and slept totally passed out until around 10PM. Didn't even know my mom had come to check on me and didn't feel her touch my face! -

Which foods to avoid for new bands
Pebbagirl replied to Sav22age's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 12/6 so almost one month ago. So far, I can eat anything which is kind of a bummer. I have very little restriction, but that's to be expected. I do have a problem if I eat too fast or don't chew enough. It hurts for a few seconds until the food goes down. It's really a learning curve! -
I weigh and take measurements once a week.

Nikils, here's a cinnamon-y snack you might try: a caramel rice cake (yummy by itself!) with cinnamon flavored Laughing Cow. You could sprinkle on more cinnamon if desired. -
Hey, everyone! As you find your way here, please tell us a little bit about yourself...whatever you want. My surgery date is December 6th, the day after my 46th birthday! What a gift! My surgery will be in Little Rock, Arkansas and my surgeon is not requiring me to do a pre-op diet since my BMI is just below 40. However, I have started making strides in the right direction: I joined My Fitness Pal (MFP), started logging my food, I'm walking 45 minutes a day, I have increased my water consumption, and I'm trying to make better (not perfect) food choices. I have also discovered www.ShrinkYourself.com and I have begun the very in-depth work of learning about the emotional reasons that I eat and how to change that. I have purchased Jean McMillan's books, Bandwagon and Bandwagon Cookery and I can't put them down. This week I will be putting together my post-op survival kit. Oh, and I'm getting a new puppy 5 days before surgery! Tell us about you!
