    Port incision

I'm 2 weeks out and I have lumps in all the incisions but I was told it was the stiches they put from the inside. As for pain I feel nothing. Last week the incisions were all itchy and drove me crazy but this weekend I am able to lay on my stomach and I feel perfectly normal.
  4. Am I supposed to stay hungry before my first fill? I feel like I could eat as much if whatever I want to eat. The only reason my portions are small is because I do chew each bite for 30 seconds and wait 30 seconds to take my other bite so by the time I eat a dessert plate size portion I am done but I never feel full. I'm just hoping that once I get my fill I will get that full filling sensation... any suggestions???
  5. Alright fellow bandsters give it to me straight.... what should I expect on my first fill? Is my food going to get stuck? Is it going to be painful? I just want to know what to be prepared for. Thanks y'all!

    January 2013 Bandsters!

So now that it's February... How are all of us January bandsters doing?
  7. I was banded 01/25/2013 and like you I had a 5 month journey preparing me for the actual surgery. Surgery day I was nervous, a little scared but I just kept reminding myself about my end goal and of course I made it through the surgery. I have dealt with major gas pain but it's gotten better every day. The day after surgery I made myself resume life as usual... never skipping a beat. I think that is a huge part of healing. Yes you need your rest but if you get up and move around your body actually recovers faster and if you get the gas pain it's really the best form of relief. You will be just fine. You have hung in there for 6 months... the rest is easy!
  8. I have Aetna and they do cover it after a minimum of 1 year of surgery.

Almost 4 months post op pics

Congratulations!!! 4 months and 50 lbs is awesome!
  10. I thought I wouldn't want to tell anyone but I seem to be telling everyone that asks. I guess I don't really care about the negative comments because ultimately I am bettering myself, if someone doesn't understand that is their problem. I do that for some people the negativity can be a little much. My family was really upset and thought I was doing something way to extreme but now that it's done they are all coming around.
  11. I am 6 days post op and the incisions have never once bothered me but the gas is a whole different story. It comes and it goes. Typically when I wake up I feel really good. As the day goes on it's like the gas builds up and causes more and more discomfort. I am sticking to the liquid diet and gas x. In the evening the gas gets so bad it's almost unbearable. It feels like someone is auction my chest while another someone is pushing up on my rib cage with all their might. I use a heating pad. I have had a bm. What am I doing wrong? This is really bad this evening and I have walked more today then any. I walked about a mile. Any suggestions, words of wisdom, or anything would be greatly appreciated! Thank you
  12. Thanks everyone. I spoke with the doctor and apparently this is normal gas pain. Today is better so far but it always seems it's worst at night before bed. I guess I just wasn't expecting it to be that bad since the incisions and all feel just fine. I really appreciate everyone's input. I love this forum!
  13. Hello all. I have my surgery on the 25th. I was wondering if there are any other January bandsters that live in the Austin area? I am hoping to connect with people close by maybe even join a support group. I just want to be extremely successful and was thinking maybe we could all help each other out. Any suggestions on this journey are greatly appreciated as well.
  14. I'm actually back at work. I feel no pain whatsoever in the incisions only the dreadful gas pain they warn you about. I walk, take gas x, use heating pads, everything I can think of. If it weren't for that I wouldn't even know I had surgery.
  15. I was wondering if anyone else is having cough and congestion after surgery?
  16. I am doing well. I am really sore around the port and swollen. My other incisions aren't bothering me whatsoever. My cough is only in the morning right now and I have asthma so that may have something to do with it. How are you feeling now? When Did you feel like you were hungry? I've forced myself to eat two protein shakes a day just to gain some energy. I don't feel hungry at all.
  17. I Did... were supposed to use it at least 4x a day. Mine went pretty good. I'm really sore but other than that I'm good. How about you, How Did yours give, and How are you doing today?
  18. The surgery went well today. The gas in my stomach and left arm are the worst pain but it's been a little easier with walking and heating pad. The cuts made are uglier than I imagined, hopefully they fade well. I'm so ready for this journey. Thanks everyone for all the wonderful pre-op advice. It really helped me to make my way to the post open side.
  19. I am just curious if there are any fellow vegetarians that have had lap band surgery or in the process of having it?
  20. Mine is at 7:30 am. I was at the pre-oo seminar on the 15th. Are you staying at the hotel?
  21. That's true I am glad to know you are following very shortly behind me. I will let you know How it goes!!!
  22. Does anyone have any suggestions to help get over the nervousness? Two more days and I am full of anxiety. All I can think of are all the bad things that can happen. For the most part everyone only has good things to say correct? Surgically the risks are minimal. I just wish it would come and go already. Anyone have any encouraging words of wisdom? Thank you in advance!
