    After Pregnancy Weight Loss

I was banded in 2005 lost at most 83 pounds then welcomed our first child Sept of 2007, had a loss pregnancy in 2009, and our most recent child May 2011. Averaging a gain of 35-40 pounds after all the pregnancies. I have not found the same weight loss patterns as before kiddos. I just went again today for another fill after being unfilled in December after a week of not being able to eat solid food. I wish there was a group to help us postpartum banders with tips and support to get back on track. Congratulations on your pregnancy! Enjoy this time! ~Christina

    November 10, 2005

Yea! people return! I was banded in 2005 and sadly am not at my goal. I slipped back into really bad habits after my daughter was born in 2007 and have finally made it to the point of being "ready" for a change. I hope more 05-06 bandsters come back to share, and support.

    Starting over

I was just coming here to post the same thing. It's so difficult and frustrating to say the least. My only advice is to talk with the surgeons/fill centers and negotiate a price, don't settle for their price. Good luck to you and Congratulations on your new addition

    2005 Bandsters Unite!

Hello:rapture: I am a March 2005 bandster. I am not at goal but pretty happy with what I have been able to lose so far. I had dropped 75 pounds then happily became pregnant last year. Gained too much back during my unfilled post partum period and now working out like a fool to get back on track. It's so nice seeing people posting from 2005 again!
  5. I ended up gaining 8 pounds. I had hyperemesis causing me to loose significantly early on. I did have a complete unfill at 10 weeks, because of the morning sickness. My surgeon wouldn't even hear of a fill after the baby because I was breastfeeding, so needless to say I found some weight I had lost pre-baby. At 6 months postpartum when we were finished breastfeeding he started with fills again. I am starting to get back on track now.

    Help from year long banders

I've been, where I was going to wait a bit of time after an emergent unfill, and ended up waiting several months ending in gain. It's time to see your fill doctor again! As far as fluid dissapating, I think the tiniest amount is known to leave. What size band do you have and what is your fill level? This isn't the end, you just need to get back to a good level of fill and get back on the track of weightloss. I think it's harder to make the "decision" to start loosing again, than when we were first banding and it came as part of the package. Good luck to you!

    Any nurse self filling?

Believe me, I've seriously thought about it. Especially since the surgeon has been insisting on .2-.3cc fills since being pregnant. I've never had a fill under fluro, just me the surgeon and a large huber needle.

    Delivery and a band

I had no problems with my pregnancy and band. I did have an unfill at 10 weeks due to severe morning sickness, but went on to have a natural vaginal birth. I started back with fills at 5.5months postpartum due to breastfeeding. Congrats on your band journey!
  9. I delivered completely natural a little over 2 years post-op. The only thing that came up was when they were placing the monitors on my belly. My port was were they normally place one of the monitors.

    Pregnant? Fill Out???

I am also currently pregnant. Due Sept 19th. I did have a complete unfill at 10 weeks due to horrible all-day sickness. I was very anxious and worried about weight gain, but after getting ahold of myself, really I'm doing all of this for my baby. I can always get filled again and jump back on the weightloss track. To be completely honest I don't really have the ability at this point to even eat as much as I did at my most filled state. The baby is taking up so much room, so I am back to eating small meals/snacks throughout the day. My surgeon wasn't worried about the calorie intake while pregnant he was more worried about calories during breastfeeding. It is your decision maybe just a slight unfill as the months go on will work for you. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!!!

    Nursing school question

You've probably already taken your assessment, but anyhow..... In my ADN class we were in pairs and performed general assessment on eachother in shorts and shirts, my BSN we were required to supply a "client" and also performed all assessments while fully clothed. Assessment of the genitals and breasts were physically omitted but discussed with the proctor of the lab. Hope that helps!

    Calling all March 05 bandsters!

:bump: Not sure how many of us '05 March bandsters are still active on the boards, but figured we hadn't checked in since last February, so it is time. :biggrin1: I have been at the same weight give or take 2 pounds for the last 4-5 months. In August I had a horrible "stuck", which ended with me having 1.5cc's removed leaving me with just 1cc in my band. The surgeon wanted me to wait 2-3 weeks with no further fills to allow for healing, then after schedule complications I will finally get another fill in 2 days. I need to get my butt back in the gym, and eating the right way! Hope everyone is doing well.

    Boston area Mass Health

I live in Massachusetts, however the Springfield area. I have heard people saying that their Mass Health was not covering the band in this area. I would call and ask, also make sure you have your weight issues documented with your primary care doctor. Good Luck!!

To Booze or Not to Booze

First Congratulations on your upcoming date!!!!! With that said, yes I do enjoy the occasional drink. Usually a glass of wine or a mix drink. I stay away from the carbonated drinks. I haven't had any problem with the intake of the drink, it's just that I seem to have become a "cheap date" with the loss of the weight!!
