What foods do you find difficult to eat?

I've only found a couple of foods that can cause a problem: Egg Rolls(shouldn't be eating them anyways*lol*), meat that's too dry, even chewed to an oblivion.

What does everyone do for a living?

Registered Nurse(Emergency dept), but what I really want to be is a stay-at-home mom... Just need the kids and hubby to make more money..*lol*

    Who can feel their port?

I can also feel my port(with a degree of pushing of course). I am on my second fill. My surgeon hasn't had a problem with hitting it. It may be the nurse in me, but I still think it's pretty cool when I feel the "tink" when he gets to the bottom of the port during a fill.. Boy am I weird... ~Christina~

Insurance woes and psych eval concerns....

Not sure what state or type of BCBS you have, but I also have BCBS(of Mass) and Magellen was the mental health coverage. I had to pay my co-pay of $30 and that was it. My surgeon also made the psych eval "mandatory" not sure if that helped BCBS pay for it.. Depending on the psychiatrist you visit they will ask questions regarding your past mental health history, your current support system. What your expectations are after surgery, and the "why" of seeking surgery.. I also had to do a multiple choice questionaire, I think it had 20 question. It all was geared to see if you were experiencing "depression"... I hope that helps.. Good luck! ~Christina~

  9. So today I've been banded 1 month!!! I fit into jeans I haven't been able to in about 6 months! I've lost some weight, except gained 3 back this weekend, I think it's due to AF this week, i do usually gain some during that time of the month... I had my follow up visit with the nutrionist last Friday and walked away with some great new knowledge but also some bad feelings about this new lifestyle.. I've been kinda down since that visit. She told me to have 6 "meals" a day at only 200cal per "meal" To drink only things with no calories and that the carnation instant breakfast that i'd been drinking isn't a good choice because of the sugar. Ok, I can do the no calorie drink thing but only 200cal per meal??? How is that living a normal life? How am I suppose to go out to dinner with friends and only eat 200cal?? Maybe because I have no restriction at this point? She was absolutely floored that I was able to eat 4 scrambled eggs in one sitting. She even commented that I was the only band patient that is able to eat this much... Well I don't have a fill yet... She says I should only be able to eat 1 egg and a 1/2 piece of cheese.... Oh, am I doing this all wrong?? She suggested I contact Dr Haag and ask for an earlier fill which I'm pretty sure he won't before the 6 week mark.( i asked at my 2 week check up) I'm ok losing slowly, I just want to feel somewhat normal.. I really feel like I've been put back on a "diet" i got that panicky feeling leaving the office like OMG I'm going to fail again. I'm back to counting and of course obsessing about calories and fat and protein... Has anyone else had this experience, what is it that I'm doing wrong??? Thanks for "listening" I'm sorry this ended up being a novel... ~Christina~

    Happy Anniversary!!!!! ~Christina~
  13. I'm still pretty early into my banding however I also wear scrubs for my job. I've stuck with drawstring bottoms so that they shrink with me. As far as the tops go, I have purchased the ones with the tie in the back that also allows them to shrink with me. Congrats on the new job!!! Happy Shopping! ~Christina~

    Burping & Farting

I am unable to burp??? I feel a burp coming up and it stops under my sternum, it sure does cause some discomfort. Is this normal?? ~Christina~
  19. Thank you all for your support and encouragement! Sugery went just as planned although so far the recovery has been less than easy. My first memory after sugery was me bawling about the horrible pain I was in. I guess it took about enough morphine and dilaudid to put a horse down to get me under control. hmmmm :cry I first got out of bed around 6pm that night, I didn't make it far. I was still so woozy and couldn't keep my eyes open. At that point I decided to stay in the hospital over night. So the night shift helped me out of bed three times and I made it around the floor slowly but did alright. I did have an episode of nausea in the middle of the night, thank god for the reglan. I was discharged Tuesday early afternoon. I was still feeling pretty bloated but knew I'd be more comfortable walking in my jammies at home.. Tuesday night, was rough to say the least. Between not sleeping, having pain, and starting my period I was a ball of hormones. Thank god for my husband. I ended up staying on the couch and taking my pain medicine every 4 hours. Yesterday I felt a 100% better still taking the pain medicine every 8 hours or so. I finally passed gassed last night which I think has been the culprit of most of my pain. This morning mostly just stomach muscle pain. I feel like I've done a million sit ups! I've been taking clear liquids without a problem. Tomorrow I'm able to advance to "full" liquids and add my protein shakes. So slowly but surely I'm getting back to being me. I can't wait to see what the scale says! I have also learned in all of this I'm a horrible patient... Thanks again. ~Christina~
