How much did you get on 1st fill?
TraumaNurse replied to Road Queen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
my first fill was also 1cc in a 4cc band. i returned 2 weeks later for another .5cc, not the sweet spot but I have been losing since.. -
I am another who orders what I really want, I usually only end up eating just a small portion of it and the rest I take home DH loves leftovers. I have found most restaurants will substitute just about anything instead of the fries/carbs. Breakfast in restaurants I have stuck to omlets, I have snuck in a bite or two of DH's french toast here and there. I haven't been to a buffett since banding, just not worth the price for the little amount that I will eat and of course no "take home" boxes. In my late mushy/soft foods phase, I went to applebee's with some friends and ordered a scoop of mash potatos and applesauce my bill came to a whopping $1.98 *lol* The waitress was a little interested why my choices I just told her I recently had "abdominal sugery and was restricted to soft foods" She left it at that and I completly enjoyed hanging out with my friends and feeling satisfied with my "meal" I've never ordered of the kids meal, as you said lots of high fat options, I'd rather have leftovers. Bread, hmm there are days I can tolerate it and days I can't. I'm not a big bread eater anyhow. although the breadsticks at the olive garden are to die for*lol* As long as I chew chew chew, I haven't had too many issues with bread. Hope that helps

Thanks to having what I think is the flu this past week, I'm down to 226.5!!! I've been taking basically clear liquids/yogurts, just until this throat stops hurting so much. I haven't been 2-twenty anything for a very long time! I love my band!! Congrats to everyone on their fabulous work!

Calling all March 05 bandsters!
TraumaNurse replied to Madeline's mom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
WOW!! Everyone is doing so well! I'm one on the "slow losing" track, but losing is much better than gaining!! -
Hi Ali!, welcome to LBT. What part of Ma do you live in?? Have you had a consult with a surgeon, depending on your BMI and comorbidities(if any) will be taken in consideration. Do you have insurance that covers WLS? There are also many people on this site that have traveled to many other countries to have their surgeries. I would just use the search tool and check on other options if having your surgery in the states isn't an option for you..

Heather, I also had a couple of months with the same type of pain, especially when bending/lifting.... It did go away.. But it was certainly painful.. Now unless I physically touch the port I don't even know it's there.
-
Well stayed the same this week.. that's better than a gain.. Hopefully next week I'll have a loss to post.

Vinesqueen, I've had exactly the same thing happen..(eating too fast and of all things and eggroll*sigh* ) Oh boy the pain was awful. I stood at the sink crying, my poor husband didn't know what to do for me.. Thank goodness I was at home. I also stayed with softer foods for a day afterward.. ~Christina~
-
I've had two fills and both times asked if I should do liquids/mushies following and he said no, just eat sensibly and slowly to get used to the new level of restriction, so far so good.. ~Christina~

Ok, weird and funny question........... Has anyone had an experience with setting off security machines??? The other night at work a security guard was playing around with the "wand"(a device to check patients for sharps/weapons) I "beeped" directly over my port!! I did not have any other source of metal on me.... I do not carry a card or anything stating that I have an implanted medical device, what will happen when I go through customs at the airport??? Guess I may just be the next headlines on the nightly news *lol* "Massachusetts women, held for questioning after abdominal region positive for questionable material" *lmao* ~Christina~
