Two Weeks Post-Op And I Am Craving Regular Foods :(
Gouldieloc replied to Gouldieloc's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks everyone! I know I want this tool to work for me, and I don't want to skip meals, but this is truly Bandster Hell! I'm sure I can do better. Its not about losing right now - I was actually floored that I have lost this much. I just want to be successful in the long term -
Two Weeks Post-Op And I Am Craving Regular Foods :(
Gouldieloc posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am two weeks post-op and I am really craving regular food. I don't think I can eat any more Jell-o, soup or scrambled eggs! What do I need to do? I don't crave sweets or soft drinks, I crave meat and cheese and once in a while bread. I am down 20 lbs and I feel so much better already, but I feel like I need something more sustaining than mushy food. I slipped today and ate about 1/2 half cup of smashed redskins for lunch and 1/2 cup of weight watchers cheese ravioli. (Tolerated well) I gag with the smell and taste of the protein drinks. I tried a protein shot today and I half way tolerated the smell/taste. Any suggestions? I want to be successful with my band, but I need to know how to battle on days like these. -

With the Coke and soft drinks in general, we bought a few at the store and said this is it. When this is gone, there will be no more. Luckily its just my daughter and I, so it was pretty easy to enforce. We don't miss it and it has been 3 full weeks! Its not an easy addiction to beat! Best of luck to you

The ablation for me was the best thing ever! I didn't like going on vacation or any where when I was having my period, way too much changing time for me! Now, almost 4 yrs later, sometimes a panty line is more than enough protection. I hope you have as good as an experience as I did (the only real draw back was there is no sex for 6 weeks!)

I felt tired and weak the first week after my surgery too - I thought I would recover quickly, but my body had other plans. Now when I get home from work, I immediately change into walking clothes and go for a walk. It seems to help my energy level. Prior to the surgery, I would come home, take a nap and then do housework or whatever. Now that I walk first, I seem to have more energy and I get more done. Maybe it would help you too? Good luck!

My Husband Doesnt Understand

Awe maybe he needs to go a support group meeting with you. My long term boyfriend and I are doing this together ( I'm first) and at first he wasn't on board. Once he went to a seminar and heard everything, it changed his outlook. My band was done 9/17 and I too was sore the first week. No explanation. Hopefully you will feel better soon and he will become more supportive of your new journey -
Redness Around Staples..6 Days Post Op
Gouldieloc replied to xxoxoheatheroxox's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only had dissolvable stitches/glue as well. I had asked my surgeon if I would have staples and he looked at me like I was crazy! The itching seems to be normal and sounds like the healing process is working -
How Long Did It Take To Hear From Insurance?

Good luck on Tuesday! -
When I had the ablation done, it was done as a same day procedure. I came home and layed on the couch and watched tv and slept. There was no pain or discomfort for me. I spotted over the next 6 weeks - this is what they referred to as my uterus "weeping". It wasn't as bad as a period. My periods got much less severe over a few months. I am no longer anemic! it has been almost 4 years since I had my procedure done, and I would recommend it to anyone who is done having babies. My periods are regular and incredibly light. Good luck to you! ( I am speaking from a pre-band experience, I don't know what post-band will be like)

I was 5'3, 222 lbs and I wore an 18 bottom (Lane Bryant) and 20 top (lane Bryant), and 40 DDD. I'm just 2 weeks banded, down 18 lbs and my pants and shirts are very loose

I had the uterine ablation done and it was the best thing I could have done. I still have my period, but it is so light its almost funny! I had my ablation done almost 4 years ago. I am only 2 weeks banded, and down 18 lbs, and I was wondering if my periods may cease alltogether. Any advice or suggestions?

I was addicted to coke also, had several a day. I stopped cold turkey for the pre-op and honestly, I haven't wanted one. It has only been 10 days, but I am proud of myself. I stopped buying soft drinks so they aren't in the house. I hope I can continue to do as well as I have. I did have one caffeine headache but I think I am to focused on losing weight to even want another Coke!

How Long Did It Take To Hear From Insurance?
Gouldieloc replied to CMaxwell331's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel very lucky! It only took my insurance company 1.5 days to approve me. I went for my last appointment on Wednesday @ 4:15 pm and the nurse told me they would submit the paperwork on Thursday. I received my approval call at about 1 pm on Friday. I have BCBS and I am in PA. Keep calling your physicians office and the insurance company -

My name is Christine and I am super-excited to be on the 9/17 banded list! What kind of "before & after" advice does anyone have? I was thinking of tracing my "before" body image onto cardboard and then doing it intermitently to "see" my progress. I am a bit nervous about the whole process. I have tried and failed so many diet plans before and I feel I am ready for this new journey. I am scared that I will be able to eat my way through the band. I also know that if I keep my monthly appointments with the surgeon that I will do better - long term.

I'm getting banded on 9/17 and I too am nervous and excited! I want to be skinny, and its going to be hard breaking up with food, but I have to if I want to be skinny and healthy I haven't bought any new clothes since March - that's been the hardest part for me. I'm going to miss Lane Bryant but when I think about how next spring I should be able to walk into any store and be able to buy something, it puts it into perspective. I hope to think like a thin person, but I don't want to be the person who lost a lot of weight and then ditches her old friends. I have told my friends to call me out if I ever do! Good luck to you!
