Soft foods, need help
bluegirly replied to britchick56's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My NUT said 1/4 to 1/2 cup. Make sure you call and find out! -
I was banded this morning and I'm home resting now! Feeling sore and tired but not NEARLY as bad as I thought I was going to feel! This is nothing compared to my c-sections...at least so far. I'm a little hungry but not starving, so far so good! So happy to have made it to this point and so excited for what's to come!
-
I had mine today too! How did you make out! Good luck and maybe we can check on each other since we have been banded on the same day!
-
I don't have an appetite either which is awesome. My mouth is super dry so I'm just sipping on crystal light! And it will get better! The c sections were tough but seriously prepared me for this! Give it two days...every day you will move a little easier and sleep better. Good luck and keep your eye on the prize!

I am getting banded on Wednesday (9/11). I am absolutely thrilled. Beyond thrilled. But right now I feel like I am in mourning. It's like I am ending a relationship....an unhealthy relationship....with something I love. FOOD! My surgeon does not require a pre-op liquid diet, so I am eating like a freak. I can't get enough. I want to make sure I get every last bit of delicious goodness I can before things change for me. Don't misunderstand me, I am ready for this change. I am excited, motivated, and ready. But I have this constant feeling like I could cry! I'll miss you ice cream. Lasagna, it's been great. Sayonara Chinese food. Adios nachos. Pizza Hut, I think I'll miss you most of all. I'll see you a little bit here and there, but it won't be the same. It won't be like it once was, with us spending so much time alone together. But it's time for this change. So move on with your life, because I am moving on with mine.

Parting is such sweet sorrow
bluegirly replied to bluegirly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much!! It's been a very weird relationship I have had with food but I am ready to change! Today is my "last hurrah", tomorrow I have to be on clear liquids and then Wednesday is my BIG DAY!!! I am sure that I will be posting more frequently after I am banded, and I really appreciate the kind words of everyone on this site!! It's so awesome to know that I am not alone!! -
I'm getting banded on September 11....LESS THAN TWO WEEKS!!!!!!! I feel like a little kid doing a Christmas countdown! I have a constant feeling of excitement and butterflies in my stomach. That's all. I just needed to share.

I'm in south jersey Vanessa! My surgeon is dr goldstein in voorhees. Ill be a week ahead of you so ill let you know what to expect!
-
YES! I'm definitely nervous but much more excited than nervous! I keep saying "a year from now ill be able to do ____". It's awesome. Only 35 more days for me!
-
Good luck! It's terrible when you are dealing with insurance! I fought for almost a year and I was still denied. I appealed, then it went to a second level appeal, and that was it. I'm lucky enough to be able to pay out of pocket, but it was still crushing to be denied. I'm trying to look at the cost as an investment in my health. Keep us posted!

ok, so you had a rough day. you fell off the horse, now dust yourself off and get back on!! you can do this!! try to remember this feeling. when I mess up, I always feel terrible. the next time I want to grab that box of donuts, I try to force myself to remember that guilt. don't throw everything you've worked for down the toilet just because you had a bad day, you are human!! visit this site, vent, and let us help you get back on track! that's what im going to be doing when I mess up!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!

Question on pre-op diet
bluegirly replied to miss679's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got my date today (September 11!) and I have the same deal as you. I think it just depends on your surgeon. Good luck!!!! -
Wow there have been so many ups and downs and I'm not even banded yet!!! I went through all the red tape for Aetna, and I was denied. I appealed, I was denied. My husband and I decided that the best thing would be this INVESTMENT in my health, and we are paying out of pocket. So today I called my surgeon and I have my pre-op appointment on July 17th! That's when I get my surgery date!! I couldn't be more excited! I've been quiet on this site because I didn't have anything to post, but now I finally do!!! I dont know how long it takes to get a surgery date once you have your pre op appointment, but Hopefully my surgery date is sometime in August! So excited!!

I have insurance, but it doesnt cover the band. So I am going to be self pay and I have my consultation on January 18th. I am SOOO excited/anxious/nervous but I really don't know what to expect. When you are self pay, what is the "turn around time" from the consult visit to the surgery? What kinds of pre-surgery hoops will I have to jump through? Any info is appreciated!!

I'm so excited I'm jumping out of my skin! Tomorrow I meet with my surgeon for the first time. I went to his seminar in September and I'm finally meeting with him. I can't wait to start my new life!

I would just like to say that I am not banded yet, but I LOVE using this website to get information. I think people who have been where I am now is one of my greatest resources. That said, reading this thread does not promote a welcoming, comfortable place to go to for information. I value opinions from others , and I am one of those people who really does like to hear the good, bad, and ugly. If I am not losing weight because I am a closet milkshake drinker, that's on me. However, if that is NOT the case, I may want to lean on some of you for support. That might include asking a question that has already been asked. There are hundreds of threads on this site, and when you are new it is very overwhelming. Please let's keep in mind that this website was created to be a source of information, learning, and support. Whatever personal issues you have with another member do not need to be hashed out on a public thread like this. If you don't agree with a suggestion, no one is holding a gun to your head. Just don't do it! But there may be others who love the idea! Lets all be respectful and considerate and act like the adults that we are.

Survived First Fill Today.... Liquids for the next 3 days??
bluegirly replied to NJMommy2Four's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Njmommy Who is your surgeon? I'm in Jersey too.... I'm pretty sure I know who I'm going with but I'm always looking for suggestions. -
Thanks roscoe! I'm not banded yet but I am so excited about making a real lifestyle change! I eat so much junk and I just want to be healthy. This post may not be what some people want to hear, but it's the truth, and I really appreciate the truth!

I had two c-sections and the recovery was not impossible but it was no picnic, either. How is the lap band compared to that??? I guess I'm a big baby!
-
I am putting together a list for myself. It includes everything I CAN'T WAIT to do once I lose weight!! My favorite is to be able to cross my legs. But I also have things like not shopping in the plus size stores, not struggling to put my shoes on, etc. My hope is that I can look at this list when things get tough and be able to re-motivate myself. So what's on your list? I want to make my list as long as possible so I feel fantastic when I am able to cross something off!
-
I am a pre-op bandster, going for my consultation on 1/18. I'm just wondering....how do you manage to feed others in your family after you are banded? I think they will just end up eating better foods because that is what I will make for myself, and that's great! But I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old! I can't deprive them of spaghetti and other "kid" foods! Do you just end up cooking two meals? What should I expect???
-
No! I appreciate all answers! Since I am so new to this I have a zillion questions and I am just soaking up info like a sponge!
