I have been religiously tracking my calories with my fitness pal. It's been awesome. But how do you add something when you have no clue how to?? Like tonight, I ate my mom's sweet and sour chicken....she makes healthy adjustments for my dad so it was good for me too. But when I search for it using MFP, the only ones that come up are restaurant listings. And the calories are all over the place! So what do you guys do in a situation like this??

Thanks everyone! I'm going to do some investigating!

I am two weeks post-op and down about 20 pounds. I have about 35 pounds to go before I break into "ONE-derland". There are about 18 weeks left in this year. Is it realistic to set a goal to lose 35 pounds in that amount of time? I know the band should help you lose 1-2 pounds a week, providing you do your part and follow the rules, but if I set this goal for myself am I possibly setting myself up for disappointment? I am a big believer in setting attainable goals, and not over-reaching. But I don't know if this is attainable or if I should set a more realistic goal!!! Any thoughts??

Thank you everyone! You are right....I think maybe I should just aim to consistently lose weight instead of focusing on numbers. I'm just going to do the best I can do and see what happens. I'm glad I asked!

My husband and I have started to have "contests". It's not classy, but it works for us and it's good for a laugh. DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT RECOMMENDING THIS AS AN ACTIVITY FOR EVERYONE, and I DO NOT ENGAGE IN THIS BEHAVIOR IN FRONT OF MY CHILDREN, WHO NEED NO MORE EXCUSES FOR "POTTY HUMOR".

That sounds awesome!! Where can I find a recipe??

IT DOES GET BETTER!! I promise you will sleep again! You are only a day post-op, so expect a couple more days of discomfort and then things will get better. I'm not sure what the burning sensation is, but the port site for me was the worst. I'm two weeks post op and it's still tender. Call your surgeon and see what's going on. But don't worry....this, too, shall pass.

Im having a meltdown
bluegirly replied to sparkles502's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First of all, I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine what that is like. But I would suggest you see your surgeon asap to discuss where you should go from here. If you are having a hard time getting back into the swing of things, you might just need a reminder of why you were banded in the first place. But speaking as someone who has been battling depression my whole life, PLEASE consider seeing a counselor. They might be able to help you get back on track with your weight loss and deal with your loss. Come to the forum for a pep-talk anytime! -
congratulations!!!!!!!!

78 days laterrr.....
bluegirly replied to ChloeHouston's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
50 pounds is a huge deal! Try to stay positive! And we ALL need support....don't beat yourself up for needing your family. Some people on this board don't have families who support them, so WE have to support them! You are a step ahead for having people in your life who love you and want you to be healthy. Keep up the great work! -
Wth did i do this for?
bluegirly replied to runt71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think this post has gotten a little out of control. We are all fighting the same battle and we should all be respectful of everyone on this board. This forum can be an invaluable source of information but the final word should always come from your own surgeon. Instead of making attacks on each other, we should all be motivating and encouraging each other. Non-banded people may have the best intentions, but bandsters can really relate to exactly what you are going through. Please let's act like the adults we all are, and use each other to lean on instead of argue with. -
Saw an Ex-boyfriend Yesterday
bluegirly replied to PrettyThick1's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Awesome!! And GOOD FOR YOU for not giving in, even though you were really into him. If he is only going to treat you right because you look a certain way, then he is not worth it!!!!! Put your energy into someone who is going to love you INSIDE and out!!!! -
congratulations!!!

Small victory.....
bluegirly replied to awalden2829's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's not a small victory, that's huge!! Congratulations! I still have about 45 pounds to go to get to that one, but I have definitely been looking forward to it! -
I am about two weeks post op, and still on full liquids. So I have mostly been using an immersion blender to "de-chunk-ify" low fat/low cal soups. I eat about a cup at a meal (3 meals a day), and I try to go as slow as I can, but it is difficult since I don't have to chew!! Should I be experiencing my "soft fill" signals yet?? The band has really made me pay SO MUCH ATTENTION to my body, and I am trying to learn physical signs of hunger as well as physical signs of satisfaction. I have seen many of you talk about your soft fill signs, but I don't have any that I know of. Is this because I am on liquids still? Am I not recognizing my signal? Any help is appreciated!

I think my scale is trying to be funny
bluegirly replied to backpacking5's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I just went through three scales that had the same issue. I kept returning them to bed bath and beyond. I finally bought an analog (dial) scale, and that seems to work better. The only downside is I have to get my husband to read it for me bc the little lines are too damn close together!! -
4 days post op - Help
bluegirly replied to LapbandLo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The growling is just gas moving around your belly. All the pains you feel are probably not hunger pains....it took me about a week to learn the "new" feelings going on in my stomach. It gets better, hang in there. The "head hunger" is the worst part for me, and even that has gotten better and I'm only a week and a half out!
