True Results Weight Loss Center Houston, TX

Sometimes, its a matter of who can get you the results from a technical standpoint, IE: the surgeon. However, surgeons cut and sew. As someone who has been in healthcare for 20+ years, the "caring" after surgery may come from other sources. The doc who did the surgery, may not be the one you need for support, encouragement, and tlc afterward, but darn they did a good job to start you on this journey!

    Bc/bs Federal

I have Fed Blue basic as well. I live in one state, had surgery in another. So, they have to get pre-approval in the state you are having surgery in, which was not a problem. After the doctor's office turned in all the information, there was a quick turn around time for approval. First informational seminar May 5th or so, had surgery Sept 5th!

    Chicken Parmesan Meatloaf "muffins"

I tried these last weekend and they were awesome! I even gave some to my dad, who doesn't like anything new, and he liked them too. I froze the leftovers, so we will see how they reheat. Looks like there are several recipes that I will try.

I Dont Feel Like I Have A Lapband!

I was banded the 5th. I feel similar to KristinsMommy. Others call it "bandster hell" the time between surgery and when it feels like the band is helping. I can eat the same things, same time of day, and have hunger return at different times. Keep working on the mental aspects of your hunger, truly "listen" to your body, follow your guidelines, and you will do well. I am eating only the 1/2 cup or so, so that I can mentally wrap my head around what I am suppose to do. Hang in there!

    Wine???

Generally if a wine says "sparking" it will be carbonated. I have friends who love the moscato de asti's, and they are generally sweet and carbonated.
  6. I was banded on Sept 5th. 2 weeks later, I developed left hip pain ( I am left handed). I realized it had to do with how I was getting in/out of bed, trying to splint and protect my stomach! Slowly improving, but please be aware of body mechanics with movement as well. If you can, squat down to pick up stuff, not bend at the waist, which irritates the the sciatic nerve as well, do not reach across your body (say from left to right), turn your whole body to grab something, try reaching with the arm opposite the side the sciatic is bothering. When lying in bed, if on your back, put pillow under your knees. Sleep with a pillow between your knees if you sleep on your side.

    Am I A Liar?

I have only told three close friends. Not even family. To be flippant, when people are nosy enough to ask if my hair color is "mine" I always say "yes". its mine, cuz I paid for it! The tools I use to lose weight is no one's business. Now 3 years down the road, when I've bean at goal for awhile, I may change my mind, but for now, I do not feel like sharing so much.

    Forks Over Knives ~ Documentary

I have read the book. Some interesting points brought up. I tried going vegetarian, but I like my meat based protein (poultry and seafood). I am only 3 weeks post op, so when my diet is freed up a bit, I will do plant based protein as well....believe it or not, I am craving edemame (sp?). I believe "everything in moderation." I enjoy poultry or seafood over beef, which can get you burned at the "steak", living here in the midwest! Extremes can get us all in trouble.

    Why are YOU Fat?

I am an emotional eater/food addict. I come from a long line of addicts and gravitated toward food to deal with "stuffing my emotions" or blunting them. Both sides of the family tend to be shorter, wider women and I followed suit. I am trying now to deal with me feelings in a more constructive way....it's ok to feel emotions, bad ones go away, I do not have to eat them away....will always be a struggle though, but I CAN AND WILL savor this new journey to the new me! Have an awesome week everyone.

    On The Other Side....

I was banded Sept 5th. Went back to work today! Weight is down 6 lb, so quite excited, although I know it will taper off. Appetite is improving. Pain is tolerable with tylenol only. Keep up the good work September 2012 Bandsters! We CAN and WILL do this!

    Day 6 Post-Op

I was banded on the 5th. Surprised by how well I am doing. The discomfort is getting better each day. No narcotics for 2 days now. The gassiness is nuts though! I am a bit teary today, with the "what have I done" thoughts. I am trying to be patient, (huge issue for me at times). I know this is a journey I needed to make. The roller coaster of weight loss has to stop and this was the most realistic option for me. Can't wait for the pureed phase. The protein shakes before surgery were fine, but I CAN'T stand them post-op. Hope all are doing well and I am glad to be part of this group.
