I Feel As No Band Is There.
Wisegirl1 replied to Wisegirl1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, all Drs are different, they would have given me my 1st fill within 2 weeks but I caught a bacteria infection so I was stll healing from that. I got my 1st fill today and said o go back in 3/4 weeks for another fill. -
I felt no pain, didn't even feel the needle go into the port, it was a success. 1st fill and got 5ccs, the dr originally stated I would get 1 to 1.5. But stated I needed more...couldn't be happier.

I'm Not Ashamed.
Wisegirl1 replied to rebirth91712's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im not embarrassed to tell anyone, just feel it's nobody's business and I chose to tell who I wanted. I only told 2 of my close friends and my mother and 2 of my sisters. I trust no one from work!!! -
I had my 1st fill today, the dr. said she was going to do 1 to 1.5 ccs but ended up getting 5ccs because I needed more restriction. I thought it was Christmas, I am super happy. She also told me that there was no fill when the surgery was done, no wonder I was still so hungry. I had the band on 9/4, 1st appt was 2 weeks later (but no fill, just follow up) and had already lost 14 pounds, as of today I gained back 5 but I am in no way sad or depressed about it. I now have 5 ccs so I am sure there is alot of restriction and can't wait for the pounds to shed!

I was banded 9/4 and still have some of the sterile stops on. I don't pull on them, just letting them fall off naturally.

How Soon Did You Return Back To Work After Surgery
Wisegirl1 replied to goingfoit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery 9/4 and still have not gone back to work. My insurance approved me for 4 weeks off and if I needed more time just to call and let them know. I am going to take the most I can because I know once I get back to work I'll regret that I didn't. I love not working, I'll say that!! -

Banded 3 Days Ago
Wisegirl1 replied to banded doll's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 9/4 and still feel the port. The dr. stated it will take some time for the swelling to go down and the port to settle in. Don't worry, you're still early on. Good luck! -
Yay!!! Any weight loss and to keep it off is the greatest feeling. Way to go!

Sugar free Popsicles are a treat!....love, love, love them.... -
I dont want to become obsessed with the scale (because I can see myself doing that) so for now, my plan is to weigh in only at my drs appts for the fills or follow ups. ----there is no scale in my home----

Wisegirl1 replied to hopingtobebandedsoon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's great!! I got banded 9/4 and on my 8 day post op appt I was down 14pounds. I started exercising at the gym today as well, my plan is not to get on any scale unless it's at my drs appt. for fills or checkups....my first fill is 9/24......yay! -
The gas pain I had lasted about 2/3 days, but was the worst because I had it in my shoulder area.

Why Did U Chose The Band...
Wisegirl1 replied to shelly513's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The bypass seemed to evasive and heard of so many complications, so I decided on the lap band. I need to lose 85-90 pounds so this was the best option for me. -
I Weight More Post-Op?
Wisegirl1 replied to motherlaura's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't get discouraged, I definitely did not weigh myself until my drs appt 8 days post op and was excited to see I lost 14 pounds. You just had your surgery and you are still swollen from the meds. Just know the weight loss is coming soon. -
8 days post op and have lost 14 pds...I'm super excited!

Thanks guys, I get my first fill 9/24 so I can't wait to see what happens after that.

I had my band done 9/4, I was nauseous the 1st day and pain has somewhat gone away although I am red and swollen at the port site. I would estimate the area is about 3 inches vertical and 5 inches horizontal. Has anyone else had this problem? I do not have fever, chills nor drainage and really just hurts when I get in and out of bed. Please let me know if anyone has experienced this. Not sure if I should run to the emergency room or overreacting.

Infection At Port Site
Wisegirl1 replied to Wisegirl1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was released from the hospital yesterday and was prescribed an additional 7 days of antibiotics (levaquil) and I have a follow up appt with my Dr. On Wednesday. I did notice the redness has stopped spreading and the swollen area has gone done. Although I did catch a cold Saturday night while being in the hospital so I'm also dealing with that. I'm hoping the antibiotics will do the trick. Thanks for asking! -
I am 5 days post op and the only gas pain I feel is in my left chest, can anyone tell me approximately this gas pain will last?

I posted a thread called infection at the port site... Not sure if this may be what you have but it's good to read just to make sure.

Infection At Port Site
Wisegirl1 replied to Wisegirl1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ended up going to the ER because the area of redness became larger and swollen. Good thing I did because I caught a bacteria infection (cellulitis) at the port site but under the skin. Dr stated there is an abcess forming but is in the early stage and possibly can be healed with antibiotics. Needless to say i am in the hospital taking in antibiotics and will be monitored for 24 hrs. I don't want to feel this was a big mistake so I hope it heals quick with just the antibiotics and not having to do another surgery.
