    From livestrong.com "If you are looking for a potential rule of thumb, the 30 g rule might work. It says that at any given meal, you can absorb about 30 g of Protein. This calculation could come from the daily protein intake recommendations, which are about 0.4 g of protein per pound of your body weight. If you weighed 150 lbs., this would be about 60 g of protein per day. However, more active individuals eat about 0.8 g of protein per pound of body weight because they need it for muscle growth and maintenance. For a 150 lb. person, this would be about 120 g of protein. If you ate three meals per day and a snack or two, this would spread out to about 30 g of protein per meal and snack. However, this rule is more of an average, not an absolute. Your body might be able to absorb more or potentially less protein."

  4. I'm 8 1/2 weeks out and haven't dumped once until last night. Crock pot pork roast. Had about 3 bites in 10 minutes and this GAWD awful twisted cramp feeling, the saliva building up in my mouth...oh my word. I vomited for the first time and this horrendous feeling lasted for about 30 minutes. Guess I will not be having pork again, like EVER!!!! Sorry for the graphic detail, but oh my gosh, I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.

    How Much To Eat?

    I'm 7 weeks out as well and I do shakes 2x a day because its so hard for me to get the protein in throughout the day otherwise. Keep up the good work. How is your progress so far? Surgery 10/17/12 - 248lbs size 18/20 Today 12/06/12 - 211.2lbs size 16
  8. So, DOS was 10/17 and I'm down 17lbs. Decided to cut 11" off my hair, go a little darker, and start my new life with a new look! My clothes fit a little bit looser and I didn't see much of a change until this... Yay me!!!

  12. Well, went in for my 6 week post op appt today. Im officially down 37.2 lbs! Down from a size 20 to a 16! My eating issues are a little better today as I've gone back to liquids and soup. Anyone else 6 weeks out? How's your progress?

  16. I'm 6 weeks out tomorrow and for the past couple of days, everything I eat hurts. I was doing great and have lost 35lbs so far. Now, a bite of anything and I'm uncomfortable. What gives!?! Have a check up with doc on Thursday, maybe I need to go back to full liquids and start over. Heading out to get big box of SF pops!!

    All Foods Hurt...

    Just had a protein shake over the last couple of hours and it was okay. Gonna try just liquids until Thursday....at least I have some energy from the protein.
  18. Hello, today is the first day since before surgery that I've developed a headache and its turning into a migraine. What can I take?!? Too early to "sleep it away" as my kids are still wired and wide awake. Thanks

  20. Hey all! There are a lot of threads out there that discuss excess skin and I'm only a month out from my RNY. I was introduced to ItWorks!     October Surgery Dates

    DOS 10/17 248 Today 4wks out 217.5 Total lost: 30.5 lbs. I haven't lost anything in almost a week...bummed but still happy for my progress so far. On a full puréed diet and noticed that the stall came along with that. Also, last meal of the day, I always feel so ill afterwards...just want to sleep. Thoughts?

    Carmen! Great work! My starting weight was 248 on 10/17 and as of today I'm 226! I can't wait to be in the 100s! Keep it up!
