Tried quinoa today. Great substitute for rice like spaghetti squash is for Pasta. So much Protein, gluten free, Fiber, it's a superfood!!! I made this today with some shrimp, diced tomatoes, jalepenos, garlic, pepper, and a tsp of EVOO. DELISH!

These are 100% whole grain complex carbs.

I bought a huge bag for $8 at costco. It's really expensive at regular retail grocers. It is organic, 100% whole grain, gluten free awesomeness. You cook it like you would rice, 1 cup quinoa to 2 cups Water, bring to rapid boil and the. Under low heat for about 15 mins. It expands so make sure you have enough space in your pot. You can cook it with chicken stock, it takes on the flavor you cook it with. Let me know how it goes!

That's just a 1/2 cup and it really filled me up. The shrimp added additional protein!

I'm 4 1/2 months out and I can't be any happier with my scars. I know I will never be in a bikini but I love the fact that I can barely see them! 5 tiny scars that are fading with each day. In fact, my most noticeable one is from my drain. Thank goodness for meticulous surgeons!

What to bring for a cruise?
lilmickey78 replied to judyinmn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got back from a cruise and they had sugar free beverages there at the meals, they had soups, soft foods, sugar free options...etc. just make sure you bring your vitamins and it would be good to bring a sports bottle to carry around to make sure you're getting your fluids. -
I sprung for Mederma. It seems to be working wonders. :-)

Feb 2012 vs. Feb 2013 Seeing this picture from last year started the whole process of getting RNY. I didn't want my kids to grow up with memories of an unhealthy mom. Had surgery 10/17/12 and I'm down 59lbs. Slow and steady wins the race, right? I'm gonna give myself one whole year to get to my goal weight loss of 125lbs lost. 66lbs to go. So happy with my result so far. Went from size 20/22 to 14/16! -

Are you getting all of your fluids in? I was nervous about being able to eat so much after surgery but once I paid closer attention to my fluid intake, I wasn't eating as much solids and not as hungry because I was constantly drinking...sip sip sip!

Thanks Nicole. Eating was good. I didn't feel like I was restricted. Ate a lot of fruit, cheese and tasted a little bit of everything. It was so hot so I wasn't in the "mood" to eat much of the time. I didn't work out on the ship but once so I only lost 1lb during the cruise. I probably could've done more...LOL I'm doing small weight workouts on my arms, I'm gonna eventually have to have surgery on them, they've been sagging since my teen years so there is no elasticity left. Guess we shall see if I can help them in the meantime! -
Hey all! I started logging on my fitness pal and want some pals on there! Friend me! "Mamaleto" Thanks!

So just got the itemized statement for my procedure on 10/17. I had RNY with the da Vinci robotic surgical system. Stayed in the hospital for 4 days. $57,746!!!! My insurance covered all but the $275 copay for my inpatient procedure and $25 for the nutritionist. Crazy bill!

Not to sound like a broken record but
lilmickey78 replied to Lebim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really need to start recording my eating on MFP. It's hard to do when I've been eating Korean food. I'm 9 weeks post op and down 41.9lbs. moving out of state next week. Guess that'll be my New Years resolution to start recording as I won't have the luxury of my moms cooking to keep me from doing so.
