If you do the liquid diet you will lose 5-6 pounds easy. And most docs want the liquid diet pre op because it shrinks your liver and moves it out of his way a bit while operating, If your liver is enlarged it can get knicked easier during surgery. And in general it is just better to go into surgery with a few pounds down, Also good practice for how you will be eating post op first couple of weeks. Some people have a rough time some don't. But it is important and you will be very glad you did it.

where to get protein samples
Vicki Loichinger replied to Lovelycurves's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
no they do not have free ones, I don't know of any that have free ones, just some sale samples so you can try before you buy a big tub. Which is a good idea, cause different people can handle different kinds, Nothing worse than getting stuck with a big ole tub full of nasty. Unjury is very good. Get some samples and see if you like them. I am waiting for an order of tubs right now, I hate being out of it. -
what is your neighbors phone number I will have them come and get it and only give it back to you on Fridays LOL. I usually only weigh on Monday and Fridays. I have a sister who ways every time she pees I think, she is obsessed worse than any of us could be and she hasn't had (or ever will have, acoording to her, wls) she is just always on some radical diet or another, As many crazy things she has done, it makes wls seem kinda mild. Right now I think she is doing HCG injections.

You women with small children
Vicki Loichinger replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a hubby and two step children age 28 and 18 (disabled, but very capable) and I have been so lucky Hubby or daughter have pretty much feed each other in cooking and shopping and left me to my own little ounces here and there of what i eat. I might suggest something for hubby to fix for them or tell him how to make it but he has done great. At first the smells of some foods he was cooking bout sent me over the edge, But I am dong better. We had three grandchildren over the other night and daughter made their whole dinner so that was great. Not sure how I would feel if I had to do all the cooking and no eating. But hopefully I will get back into the swing of it and we will all eat healthier. -

Sweetie I can't think of the right words to say right now, But know that I am thinking of you and hope things improve. Please, if you can, look at the long haul, not the short term. It is going to be worth it., It really is. Just know that there are people who understand and we love you so much. I will try to come up with some more wisdom later, lol, Right now I just want to send you a hug. -

It sure might be money well spent so that you don't end up with a hernia or worse. I know you are used to doing it all your self, but you are going to have to look after mama for a little bit. Wishing you the very best, Glad you are starting your journey to get healthier so you can take care of you and your family., -

My biggest complaint is constipation. ugh. tmi i know but oh it would feel so good to "go" wishing you the best, -

Protein post op
Vicki Loichinger replied to snow25's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
they actually gave me one ounce of potatoes two days after surgery while still in the hospital, go figure., but i didn't do it here at home till about two weeks when on the pureed stage. and that is the only thing i have put the cheese in. I had refried beans for the first time last night with some cheddar cheese and fat free sour cream and it tasted awesome. I probably could have used the cheese protein in that, might do that today. tomorrow I can go to soft, but i don't know what in the world the differences are when you chew to mush anyway. i am pretty scared to try very many things, -

Vicki Loichinger replied to DarlaRay145's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have restless legs bad, have had it for years. I take gaberpentin for it every night. That is the one med if I was out of I would go out in a snow storm at midnight to get it. That is how bad the legs can feel and how much the med helps. Sure hope you find out what it is and get some relief. Because it is miserable. -

Protein post op
Vicki Loichinger replied to snow25's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am four weeks out today. And I am still depending on the shakes for my protein. I think i get from 75 to 100 grams in a day. I usually drink three or four a day. I also have found the Unjury Cheese protein makes a great little mashed potato lunch. I make a couple ounces of mashed pot with skim milk, add the unjury cheese about 1/2 scoop a whole scoop is just too cheesey, and that is a great lunch. I can't say enough good things about the unjury products, that and the nectars from synthrax. I tried Jay Robb and it says it is supposed to taste the best, but I had my Husband take an unopened chocolate and an opened vanilla back to Kroger yesterday and they gave me a full refund. I am just gojng to stick to the ones I know that work. Just ordered unjury. Hope it comes fast. -
13 days til surgery and now I'm scared :-(
Vicki Loichinger replied to mrs.mda's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad you found us. And if you weren't nervous or scared then something would be wrong. It is perfectly natural, this is a big deal But you will be fine. As far as co workers go, the above advice sounds good to me. Tell them what you are comfortable telling them, if you don't want to tell about the surgery, don't just say you are on a new eating and exercise plan, which you will be. Keep comming here in the next few days reading and asking questions. We will help you through. You got this. -
surgery tomorrow
Vicki Loichinger replied to Strong Motivated Sista's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Will be in my prayers and thoughts, Praying for an uneventful surgery and quick recovery. Remember to sip, walk and rest. Try to stay ahead of the pain (don't be a hero) take the meds. You will do great. Sending you gentle hugs and positive thoughts. Let us know when you can how you are doing, -
Oh my goodness, I love your curls. but I have to say straight really suits you too, The straight makes you look younger (not that you aren't young) and more sophisticated in some way. So I think if you are going for the professional look straight would be it. But I am sure that is a big time user to get it smooth like that. So maybe curls for weekends or when you don't have a lot of time and the smooth when you have more time. Your gorgeous either way.

I hope someone comes through for you. It seems so many people give "lip service" but they don't think they will ever be called or they have no intention on following through when they are needed. But like you I drop everything and do for others if I can. I sure wish I was in your town cause I would be there in a heartbeat.
