    From Lapband To RNY

I have done real well in the pain department. Needed the pain meds while in the hospital, and for a few days after I got home. But nothing that was not manageable. During my surgery I had my band removed, the gastric bypass, a lot of scar tissue removed and right at the end A Gyno doc came in and removed my ovary, cyst and a mass. So I really expected to be in a lot more pain with all that going on. But i did good. I have had some down in the dump days and that is almost as bothersome as pain. At least pain you can take something for and it usually works pretty quick. These mood swings are yuck. I am already on prozac (have been for years) for depression, but there doesn't seem to be any quick fix for the moods.

    Protien Help

I am drinking (or trying to drink) some isopure right now, (the bottled kind, orange mango or something like that) guys it tastes worse than medicine. I don't mean to be a whimp, but this stuff just isn't good. Also I ordered some "click" decaf espresso protein, Nasty. so nasty. Maybe it is my tastebuds but I am so tired of trying proteins that just are yuck. the ones I can handle are UNJURY and the SYTHRAX NECTARS. I should just stick to what works.

    From Lapband To RNY

Welcome I am four and a half weeks post op from revision from Lapband to RNY. I had my band for seven years. It just never helped me (or I didn't help it) lose very much and it did nothing to improve my diabetes or asthma. My PCP and all my specialists were very on board with me having the revision. I hope your PCP will be the same way. Wishing you the very best. Glad you came here. We are a great group with a lot of information and support, There are several who have or will be having the revision.

    Hello...New Here

The only thing that comes to mind is maybe eating the 1/4 cup portions more often. Also maybe asking you doc about a supplement drink that is especially for putting weight on. My brother in law, before his double lung transplant, was so thin, he had to supplement his daily intake with a special protein supplement type drink that was supposed to add weight to him. Wishing you the best, And thank you for sharing because we all need to know that we are all different and things can go so many different ways and as much as we all want to lose and lose fast, we can actually lose too much.

    what a rough day

I hope it isn't true, anyway "b**ch should not have sent you an email anyway" this is not supposed to be how it is. i just hope it is somebody being jealous and trying to cause trouble. If it is true, then I hope you find a way to get through it which ever way it goes. This just stinks that is all I can say. Wishing you all the best.

    5weeks out and discouraged.

four and a half weeks out from revision, I don't want to eat anything, I mean nothing sounds good. But I have made sure from the very beginning to drink drink drink, I have stayed hydrated thank goodness, I get all my protein in, through protein shakes or adding protein to whatever I do manage to eat. Also I have been faithful about my supplements (vitamins) I don't want my already thin hair to fall out, and I don't want to suffer the consequences of not having the vitamins I need. I figure food and eating will come eventually but I am diligent about the other three. liquids, vitamins and protein. It is not easy but it is something I practiced several months before surgery cause I knew it would be hard, but I know that it is so important. Somehow I have been able to drill that through my thick skull and do it. Now exercise, nah haven't done that yet.

    Biggest Loser

I don't know why but Biggest Loser depresses me usually. Maybe I would feel differently now after surgery. But I used to watch it when it first started then found myself so depressed with myself I didn't start the last several seasons. My sisters watch it faithfully. I don't think I could handle being yelled at like that. But I am a wimp. And interesting about Jillian, my expression is about the same as Raquel's, But really happy for her, I really wish her and her family the best.

    bad day yesterday

commercials are the worse. Couple of them have made me want to reach through the TV. like Steak and Shake, a burger never looked so good. Normally I am not hungry at all. I think it is like you said just bored and a bit of wanting what you can't have.

    Tampons In Surgery?

Since they will most likely put in a urine catheter at least through surgery I wouldn't think you would want anything else down there. Just talk to your pre op nurses and ask them to help you and then your nurses on the floor. they have dealt with everything so don't be afraid to let them know what your needs are.

4 years since my gastric bypass

Wishing you the best and so happy that since the surgery you have had two blessings added to your family. How wonderful. Like others suggested just go back to basics and get the protein in. And maybe find some exercises you can do with the kids crawling all over you while you are down on the floor. I know you love how you are able to play with them that would have been so hard prior to this surgery. Let them keep you active,. Welcome

    Depression

thank you and I think you are spot on about the Therapy. I have had a few sessions of that but ddn't stick with it. But I know it would help. I need to find someone close to me that my insurance approves and do that, This is a whole body and mind thing, all parts need attention. And like you have been on Prozac (tried others but always come back to Prozac) for more years than I can count, and they will have to pry it out of my cold dead hands. Because with it I still have so many issues, can't imagine how awful it would be without it.

    So different!

I agree, it seems like everybody has a different twist to their plan. Even the same group but different surgeons have different things they do and require.

    I need some help...

Hope all of us slow losers have a good week. And slow is still losing. I know it feels like we have done all this for nothing some days but we haven't. I never even felt like I did the band for nothing when it was slow and all came back. I knew that I may not have lost and maintained with the band, but I feel it kept me from going over the 200 pound mark. I am 4'10" and getting close to the 200 mark was starting to be as wide as i was tall. I expect to lose slow and I will be happy just not gaining and finding a good spot to maintain and to be healthier. I just want to feel good. I want to have a good mental and emotional balance as well. There is a lot to figure out in all this and our bodies are thrown for a loop no doubt, Let things catch up, This is not a diet we can just go off of and start back next monday. This is a lifestyle change of a major kind. Let's remind ourselves how lucky we are to have been given this tool. I was always thankful for my band, even when it didn't really work, cause I knew there were so many who would have wanted it and couldn't get it approved or have insurance. try to remember how excited we were when we got the call we were approved, I am just rattling. But I hope some of it makes sense or cheers somebody up. Love you guys to pieces.

tat you need to call your Nut on Monday, Are you on some kind of prilosec or some other belly thing, if not maybe that could help. I tolerate the unjury really well. You might try one of the nectars they are mixed with water, you can get samples (not free) at vitamin shoppe. I love the fuzzy navel and buy it by the tubs. I probably drink three of those a day. Hope you get it figured out, But call them they have heard of every problem in the world and surely they have some suggestions,

I had had the same problem. Have taken ducolox (store brand) two nights and added miralax (store brand) and guess when all things decided to cut loose. 2:15 this morning. Now that was a rude awakening. Thank goodness I woke up. And smell oh my goodness, I offended myself. Seriously it was awful. I think I did lose a pound, but I could have sworn it would have been five.

    Band to bypass insurance question

I didn't. I have Anthem BCBS. I think it depends on your insurance and your policy. Your surgeons insurance coordinator should be able to find out for you pretty easily.
