Have to have a endoscope to check lapband damage
Vicki Loichinger replied to copmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it is pretty common and they just want to have a good handle on what things look like and what damage the band has done, I haven't had one, but reading on here, most say it wasn't bad or a big deal, hope that is the case for you. I just think your docs are being very conscientious and doing what they believe is the best of care for you, Wishing you the very best. I had revision from the band to bypass five weeks ago. -
I got my surgery date today.
Vicki Loichinger replied to kat77's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So glad you got a date. It sounds like a long time away, but it will move faster than you think. But I will be honest the five weeks since surgery went a lot faster then the five before. Isn't it just amazing how things seem to us. Time is Time, but it can seem to go so slow and at other times way too fast. Wishing you the best as you go through the rest of your appointments and classes getting ready for surgery. -

hey if it isn't broke don't fix it, you are doing awesome. I am afraid to try anything, I wish I was as brace as you, Maybe making some healthy meatballs would be an answer. Yesterday i pureed a couple ounces of roast that I had cooked in the crock pot all day. But like you I do not want to vomit or dump. I got a sample of what dumping feels like yesterday just a few minutes after drinking some liquid muisnex cold medicine, WOW, heart started jumping, got dizzy, didn't know if I was going to voimit or poo, cold rag to the head time, laid across the bed, took about 20 mins , but it was long 20 mins. It was like INSTANT flu. There must have been some sugar in that stuff. You are really doing great. Going to try some of the things you are trying. I need to eat more, instead of living on shakes. -
6 month diet question
Vicki Loichinger replied to skinnyjess2013's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That situation just may help in documenting that you need the surgery and have tried other weight loss programs but I doubt that it would count as any time against a mandatory "so many month' diet. You are right some insurances require them some don't some have different lengths of time. But if yours requires it, it will start as you start this process., For starters begin a food journal, write down everything you eat and drink, This will help when you meet with the nutritionist. Have you checked to see what your insurance requires or the requirements of your Surgeon? -
Post-op health issues
Vicki Loichinger replied to jodimc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Prayers are going out for you Jodi. This is just not good. Don't hesitate to let them admit you and try to get you back up to a good spot, Seems like with anything once you are down it is so hard to get back to a healthy spot, you are just too weak to do it yourself. But keep asking them questions and demand they find out what is going on you too Baratric No 4. You both need answers and solutions. Praying for you both. Let us know what you find out, And don't wait, call the docs today and get something done for yourself. Big Hugs -

Welcome so glad you found us. Congrats on your decision to start this journey. I am happy that you will know soon when your surgery will be and the waiting and endless hoops to jump will be done. That is such a long drawn out process and unnerves us all. So again welcome and I know you will love it here. -
That was my pre op diet as well but I had a bad tooth that needed pulled so I ended up doing almost all liquids or full liquids. But I think just knowing I could eat a salad or some meat helped me. I did eat salad a few times. Best wishes

5weeks out and discouraged.
Vicki Loichinger replied to Kris Cheek's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Heather, I remember not to long ago you really felt awful. things have really turned for you haven't they? I hope others who are just starting out can read back and see how things have went for different ones and that it really does (in most cases) get better every day. There will be days that you think "OMG" what did I do, but they become fewer and farther between. And you are a perfect example of that. Just keep on plugging on doing what we have been told to do and learning along the way. It does get better every day. -
Just got submitted for insurance approval...AAH!
Vicki Loichinger replied to Catgyrl68's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope you both hear really soon. The waiting for that approval call seems to be the longest and one of the hardest maybe not hard but stressful things in the whole process. You will feel such a range of emotions when you get the call. But "HOPE" comes to my mind first, Cause that is what it gives you is "HOPE" at least it did for me. Even seven years ago when I was waiting to be approved for the band, I got the call on New Years Eve and I remember feeling so much "HOPE" it was the very best feeling in the world. SO that is my wish for you both "HOPE" -
First Day After Surgery
Vicki Loichinger replied to SammiSiren's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
NO NO NO at least i don't think so, just walk around inside the house every hour or so, increasing the time. Please don't jump on the treadmill right away. You have some healing to do. Ask your doc but I really think he will say the same thing. In a couple of weeks he may say you can start the treadmill. Then again I could be all wrong. -

one month away today
Vicki Loichinger replied to Debbiebydesign's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Happy Birthday Happy Birthday. I hope the time till surgery goes by what will seem quickly, But use this time to practice Sipping, walking ect. liquids Liquids Liquids. I tried to think like I had had the surgery and do a lot of the things I knew I would need to do. Started Vitamins.everyday. Tried different Protein drinks, Got lots of protein in because I knew it would help me be prepared for surgery. Read my signature and you will find what for me was two months instead of one, but ended up being for the best because of a ovary cyst and mass malfunction that was taken care of during surgery, 'Wishing you the very Best, And I hope your Birthday is special, I know your whole next year is going to be, -
I need some help...
Vicki Loichinger replied to worm2872's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't get down on myself about the scale as much as I just thought I would instantly feel healthier, and I know I do. But like I told my daughter in law this morning, when she was dropping off two of the cutest little boys ever, the it is almost anticlimatic, I had such hopes of being off insulin and having good blood sugar numbers and having energy and feeling happy. And I find myself just staring out the window with no motivation and depressed just like before surgery. she did say I look awesome and when she hugged me goodbye said I felt so much smaller. she even referenced a video they had been watching of my grand daughters first birthday and how big I looked and that was a year after the band. So I guess I do look smaller now. at least hopefully in my face. Anyway my daughter in law is the greatest and I am so fortunate. Am hoping these two little guys will help me stay cheered up today. It has to get better it just has to, Please say a prayer for me today that I can get through this day happier then yesterday. Hugs to all. -

THE DREAMS, I was glad tofinally wake up this morning (even after only four hours of sleep) felt like I worked all night., The dreams were so vivid and exhausting. It is going to be a long day. -
The fruit flavored ones I use that you mix with water is the Nectars from Snythrax, I get mine at the Viatmin Shoppe. Don't know if you have one of those locally. Also I order single serving sizes to try different flavors at BJ baraitrics.com. Also Vitamin shoppe has a few single serving choices but mostly the tubs. I love the fuzzy navel the best.

Vicki Loichinger replied to SammiSiren's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sammi You are doing awesome. Just keep doing what you are doing, just don't overdo. your body has been through major surgery so rest when you need to., But walking the halls is so good. And sip sip sip. Wishing you the very very best and so glad you were able to let us know how you are doing,. Gentle hugs. -
Anyone try this?
Vicki Loichinger replied to pookybear's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Love this. I think I tend to add to much pudding mix and then in about an hour I am in the bathroom, Not a true dumping but defiantly hits me, could be the milk also. But it sure does make the shake taste better, I need to go easier on the pudding and may have to change to a lactaid or almond milk or something, If you can eat yogurt yet, a spoon full of the pudding mix in the low fat vanilla is really good too. I lived on that pre op. -

Old Hippie it will get easier every day. You need to drink a bit more liquid, try to get 60 ounces in a day if you can, And rest when you need to. You have been through a bunch and your body is a bit ticked off at you right now, Everyday will get better, I promise. -
Different kinds of Food
Vicki Loichinger replied to tink65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kiesesassy when can we eat nuts. I feel like if I could chew up some pistachios really really well that would taste so good? I am almost five weeks out. I haven't tried anything like bread or crackers and don't plan too. But I would love some nuts.
