How Long From When They Send Paperwork To Approval?
Vicki Loichinger replied to LiterateStylish's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think my insurance gal said they had two weeks to respond. So I would hope it would be no longer than that for you. Probably less. If they get it in and get it back, I think you have a good chance of getting a early december date. Crossing my fingers for you. -
Sounds like you are lining up your ducks quite nicely. Proud of you.

My doc uses that on-q pump thingy too.

Am I Crazy!?!
Vicki Loichinger replied to newlife4leah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you won't hate yourself, You are just going to be really prepared and nothing bad about that, I don't have any "last meal' desires, so I have been eating a pretty low carb, high protein diet all summer. ANd the past week and a half the pre op diet. I could eat a meal of meat and non starch veggies, but I haven't just eat some tuna or refried beans. It is like I want my old stomach to be super ready for the new stomach. So no not crazy at all. -
So glad you are doing so well. Praying for continued healing and recovery. You are on your way now,

We are going to be twins, both a new life on the seventh. I will certainly be thinking and praying for you, Yep I have lost 19 pounds since starting this journey. Hope it makes it easier for the doc to do the surgery. Hate to think I lost for nothing. But at least this time don't have a lot of worry about gaining these 20 back like I usually do. They can stay gone, and I am going to send some of their friends to meet them soon. lol

Well I Found Out Today That.....
Vicki Loichinger replied to Wanda Bragg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wanda I am so sorry. I hope something can be figured out. Don't give up yet. There has to be a better answer to this. It is so frustrating, TWO insurances and you have to battle this. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. There just has to be a way. Going to the seminar, usually your get an apt soon after or may even see the doc at the end of the seminar. So although it is far away it could work for you. I originally had my lap band seven years ago in Cincinnati, I live in Indpls, so about two hours away, It wasn't convenient but it worked out. Now I am having the revision much closer to home, But if I had to I would go back to Cincy in a minute. -
sure hope you are doing well today. Let us know when you can. Sending you healing thoughts and prayers

Vicki Loichinger replied to kasonabby's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
doing the happy dance for you. wasn't that just about the best voice mail ever? I bet you get a date on Monday and hope it is soon. I have mine on Wednesday. Wish me luck. Very happy for you, -
well i have to admit my two week diet hasn't been that bad, i am allowed two protein shakes a day and a meat and no carb veggie for dinner. I haven't really had anything besides protein shakes, fat free refried beans, tuna salad, yogurt with protein. I am just not hungry so I haven't done bad at all. On tuesday day before surgery it is clear liguids I think that day will be rough, that will be broth jello ect. but just one day, I can handle it. So far today I have had decaf coffee with protein and now eating some yogurt with protein i will probably eat some tuna for dinner. and then another yogurt before bed.

congrats and getting all your holiday preparation done before will just help the time go by faster while you wait., It will be here before you know it. Wishing you the very very best.

that is so awesome my blood sugars have been running high for the past several weeks, I am working hard these next few days to get it lower before surgery on Wednesday. My prayer is that this surgery eliminates or greatly reduces my need for insulin. I am so happy for you, I also pray that I don't get delayed because of the high sugars. But I would have to understand it would be for my own good,

I think it would be abnormal if you weren't scared. This is a life changing decision, a good one, but changing none the less., You are going to go through ever emotion in the world. Before and probably after surgery, Just take it one baby step at a time. My surgery is this Wednesday and I feel a bit numb today, I go from scared, to excited, to numb, to nervous, to happy, to sad, back to numb.

I Made The Right Choice In A Very Short Time! So Happy!
Vicki Loichinger replied to chilet071's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
What an awesome doc. I am glad you listened. Seven years ago and endocrinologist told me had i ever considered weight loss surgery. I was taken back a bit cause i wasn't 100 pounds over weight. But he wanted me to do it for my type 2 diabetes. Well being all stubborn and thinking I knew so much more, I got the lap band, he told me I needed the gastric bypass, but nope not me, I didn't need anything so drastic, so I fought for the band. I have gained and lost the same 35 pounds many times over in the past seven years. Never did the lap band help my diabetes. The doc was right. NOW i know what he meant. I am having my band removed and revised to RNY this coming Wednesday. I have about 60 pounds to lose now, I have lost 20 since May. Doesn't sound Like a lot, but hopefully this surgery will reduce or eliminate my need for insulin, and help me lose the weight my very short under five foot body is carrying and give me some healthy years. I never had any horror stories with the band. And I think if I had not had anything done, I would weight a lot more now then if I had no band at all. But I think how much healthier I would have been these past seven years if I had listened to the doc. -
A Little Blue....
Vicki Loichinger replied to Shannalee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it might just be what you need. And after hearing what some people have to deal with after telling female friends and the reactions, comments and jealousy, have a guy lunch friend who is trying to get fit might be perfect support person. At least you won't have to deal with the female pettiness. Sorry to sound like that but that is what it seems so many people here are dealing with. So go for it. Tell those who you really think will be supportive. -

My Date 10/30/2012
Vicki Loichinger replied to Amtlmt's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Am you are doing so well. Take it slow, remember to sip, walk and rest. Stay hydrated. And try adding some protein powder to your yogurt that might taste better for you, I am pre op so take my advice as such. But if you try some yogurt with the protein powder and some dry sugar free fat free pudding mix, you might love it. try mixing vanilla yogurt with vanilla pudding and vanilla protein powder for instance. -
happy happy happy isn't it so great to get that call. Wishing you the very best,
