Surgery Today... You Think This Day Will Never Come But It Did.
Vicki Loichinger replied to Vicki Loichinger's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I am back home. The surgeon didn't feel comfortable doing the surgery today because my blood sugar was high. I know he is being cautious and a good doctor but I sure am disappointed. It is rescheduled for Dec.5 and I am supposed to somehow get my blood sugars down. So another round of reg diet then two weeks pre op diet and a lot more insulin. Trying to tell myself things happen for a reason and God is in control. -

The Closer It Gets, The More Nervous I Am...
Vicki Loichinger replied to peachee213's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I so understand the nerves. My surgery is tomorrow, and I am running through all the emotions. happy, sad, scared, nervous, numb and calm then starts all over again. But if we didn't feel this way this wouldn't be such an important step in our lives. THis is a big deal. And we can do it. And very soon we will be on the other side of this with a whole new set of concerns and we will get through those too. We have to keep our eye on the prize, for me it is improved health. Wishing everyone the very very best, -

Two More Sleeps And Then The Big Day.
Vicki Loichinger posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Kinda wound up today, excited, nervous, scared, happy and every emotion inbetween. Wednesday at 12:30 is the big day. Revision from lap band to RNY. Wishing the best to all my fellow Surgery peeps this week. -
Please do call your Doctor. And if yogurt is going down, try adding some unflavored or even flavored protein to the yogurt, I have been doing this a lot pre op and love it, now ask me in a few weeks and I may feel like you do. I do like the Unjury protein like Mel mentioned. I also like the nectar protein from synthrax.. But please call your Doc and make sure something like a stricture or ulcer or something isn't going on.

Dry Mouth
Vicki Loichinger replied to buckeyemarty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
there are some over the counter dry mouth treatments/rinses one is Biotene another is Act. not sure how they work but our Nutritionist mentioned them the other day at our pre op class. -
tk it is crazy I take the u 500 humilin insulin, very concetrated which equals to about 300 units a day. Yep I live in Indianapolis. My Husband is from Cincy. I actually had my lap band surgery seven years ago in Cincy by Dr., Trace Curry. Yes we are nearly neighbors

not sure where you are at in your journey right this sec, but you could try adding a tablespoon or two of sugar free fat free pudding powder, what ever flavor you like and some unflavored or same flavor as the pudding mix protein to it. yummy tastes like a decadent desert
-
Tk I am built just like you and have diabetes very insulin resistant. I am having a revision from lap band to RNY on Wed. Hoping this helps the same problems as you. I will keep you informed. I am crossing my fingers that this surgery will be the piece of the puzzle my body needs.

Now On Mushy Foods
Vicki Loichinger replied to Sharma Castillo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thanks BB. sounds doable. I haven't had much variety on my pre op diet and even before because of an abscessed tooth. So I don't think I will mind being a "boring eater" too. better safe than sorry. When I was first banded seven years ago, tried a few new things that didn't not sit well. some of those things I won't eat to this day. not worth the pain, even though i have no saline in my band, my mind still remembers the pain. Scrambled eggs never went well with the band, so I won't be surprised if they don't with the RNY -
Thinking of you and praying for a safe surgery and quick recovery.

I really am scared of the nausea aspect or possibility of it. I think I can handle the pain better than the nausea. Hope you find an answer.
