First Post- Sitting On Pins And Needles

crossing my fingers and toes that you get approval today. I know you are about to go nuts waiting, I wish I had a magic wand to make it easier. A few days ago I was counting down the hours, then while getting ready to be rolled back to surgery on Wednesday the surgeon comes in and says my blood sugar is too high for it to be safe to operate. I was devastated. So I know if you have to be resecheduled you will feel the same. So now I am scheduled for Dec. 5 and now back to counting days instead of hours. Waiting sucks, it just does. -

Welcome and good Idea about starting the shakes, I would say to try to get sample sizes, not big tubs. because if you don't like them you are stuck with and expensive tub of yuck. Everybody seems to like different ones. I would try to get sample sizes of as many as you can. If you have a VItamin Shoppe close to you they have several samples. UNJURY.com sales individual sizes to try out, Good luck and glad you joined in.

I have mixed the cookies and cream with my cooled down coffee, and a splash of 1% milk (that is how I cool the coffee) and it tastes awesome. I don't know if you are supposed to use water or milk, but it sure makes a great cup of coffee. -
Welcome you will find a wealth of info and support here. Have a question or concern, just ask or even use the search function. Somebody will have an answer or help you find one. Wishing you the very best on this new beginning

Pre-Op Diet Not Required Is My Doc A Quack?
Vicki Loichinger replied to Falicia004's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a two weeks "diet" but it wasn't bad, A shake for breakfast one for lunch and then meat and non starch veggie for dinner, and a snack of yogurt if needed. and then clear liquids day before. No bowel prep but I had been taking miralax about every other day, so I just increased it couple days before, so I was pretty empty and clean by yesterday. Of course all for naught since surg. rescheduled for Dec 5. But I am just going to keep following that pre op diet as close as I can so I don't undo the good I have done. And try to get my blood sugars under control. As far as your Doc not having one, just his preference, you have to think that if we were having an emergency surgery of some type we wouldn't be on a two week liquid diet so that could be some doc's thinking. I would never tell someone to eat more than their doc said, but you can use your own judgement about eating a little less or replacing a meal with a shake just to get you used to them or used to eating less. -
very good thread, lots of great info thank you

welcome welcome welcome. You will find a lot of info here as well as support, The few things I think you should have for sure (because a lot depends on what your doc wants you to have) sugar free jello, sugar free Popsicles water, crystal light, maybe low sugar gatorade or propel. and some low fat chicken and beef broth. Those are things you should be able to eat pretty soon, then the other stages come in when your doc or nut says. Wishing you the very best. I will be following you on Dec 5 if I can get my blood sugars to go down. The only problem I have had with the band is didn't lose very much weight and it didn't help the diabetes at all. I have had mine for seven years. I do feel that if nothing else the band has kept me from gaining more weight then i would have without it.

Well Surgery Didn't Happen Today.
Vicki Loichinger posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I am back home. The surgeon didn't feel comfortable doing the surgery today because my blood sugar was high. I know he is being cautious and a good doctor but I sure am disappointed. It is rescheduled for Dec.5 and I am supposed to somehow get my blood sugars down. So another round of reg diet then two weeks pre op diet and a lot more insulin. Trying to tell myself things happen for a reason and God is in control. At least I got a valium out of the deal and and IV in and out . And a mega dose of tylenol IV. even had my legs pumped for a while. We will just call this a practice run
