No One In The Sixties?
Vicki Loichinger replied to grannykathy's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
glennr welcome to the group. and your time is almost here. Best wishes on the liquid diet. You can do this. -
crossing my fingers for you both. the waiting seems to be one of the hardest parts. Just try practicing some of the new ways you will be living while you wait. Give up the carbonated drinks, the coffee, if you are a smoker quit now. Start sipping and getting your fluid requirements in now. Try and find some sample packs of yogurt and vitamins to try out. Walk if you can. Lots of things to help you get prepared for a successful journey. Your journey starts today. The day you decided to have this surgery you began the journey. You are going to love it.

Irritated When Other People Eat
Vicki Loichinger replied to kimmyk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On the pre op diet or just trying to eat healthy in general, i get irratated by the "THINGS" people eat. Especially when they think they are eating healthy or talk like they should be or intend to. That grates on me bad. If they were just eating a well balanced meal and not pigging out or eating crap it wouldn't bother me so bad. I try to ignore it for the most part. -

I have got to remember to get the papaya I remember when I had my band they helped. Wonder why they are so stingy with the zofran. My son who has stomach migraines has it ordered but only six at a time for the whole prescription. they do help him.

Deep Breaths it is going to be ok. I would for sure stick with just clear liquids to day. If you have not followed the pre op diet at all your liver may not have shrunk, and that could or could not be a problem, but that will only be known once the doc is in. It will probably not effect your surgery except make it harder for the doc to get where he needs to be. Hopefully you have shrunk it some You will be fine. You know most of the rules by being a band already, You will need to get your fluids in and protein when it is time and vitamins and you will need to be very consistent with those so you can be clear headed for work. I hope a week and a half is enough time. I can't attest to that since I am pre op for the band to rny revision. But I know from people on this board how important the fluids vitamins and protein are. Follow all your Doc and Nuts instructions. Walk, sip, rest and repeat. Sending you loads of prayers and postived thoughts.

You are having surgery in the morning? OH MY GOSH how very exciting. My thoughts and prayers and well wishes are flooding your way. Big Hugs. I know you must be a whirl wind of emotion. Deep Breaths Deep Breaths. You are about to make a wonderful change in your life. Now it isn't going to be all rainbows and roses but it is going to be worth it. Remember sip sip sip, walk walk walk, and rest rest rest then repeat.

Did You Ever Feel Like You Were Punished For Vanity?
Vicki Loichinger replied to worm2872's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Heather I think your feelings are perfectly normal and healthy. I sometimes think I am doing this solely for health reasons and forget that I actually might improve my appearance in the process. I have thought of myself in such a non attractive or worth a second look for so long it has become second nature. I hope with this surgery comes health above all but also some self esteem and some caring about makeup and clothes to some degree. Not so much vanity as just simply caring about how I look when I go out and liking what I see in the mirror. And to know how to accept a compliment. This is all new. Be kind to yourself you are doing things for all the right reasons and you have been through a lot, You have earned all the successes you are going to have down the road. Please feel better. I worry for you and want you well my friend. -
Does Anyone Get Dizzy?
Vicki Loichinger replied to Sharma Castillo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
all the above, make sure you are getting your fluids, stand up slowly, your blood pressure could be dropping as you stand up, really need to call the doc. Also if you are on medication for high blood pressure doc may need to check that too. -
BlackButterfly, who is your surgeon? I had my lap band placed in Cincy seven years ago by Dr, Trace Curry. Awesome Doc,

good girl, isn't that awful stuff, you deserve a nice nap now,

Post Op Depression
Vicki Loichinger replied to musicalwonder's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am pre op, but I think this is a lot like postpartum depression, baby blues, it is our hormones all stirred up and I think it is very normal, but feels scary and like crap. Glad you went to your doc about it . The meds will help you through the symptoms. I sure will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, And hope you just knowing you are not alone and you can come here and vent and ask questions will help. Be kind to yourself right now, you have been through a lot, Hugs -

Welcome, and your time is coming soon. Indianapolis IN here. I am on the two week pre op diet right now. Should have surgery Dec 5 if we can find out the reason for this abdominal pain I have been having for the past two weeks. Had a ct scan today. Hoping what ever it is it won't cancel the surgery ( my blood sugar being to high post poned it once) so I am just hoping a bunch and trusting what should be will be. Glad you found us. There is a lot of support and information here. Again Welcome -

I'm Sick...what Can I Take?
Vicki Loichinger replied to ~Christi~'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
glad to here, i swear by musinex, but i am pre op. But I really think it is a miracle drug when you have a chest cold. I have asthma and a bad cold can turn into pneumonia on me in nothing flat, at first sign I start drinking the musinex or robitussin plain (that is what is in the musinex). I have even used those crystals for little kids. They probably have to much sugar. But if what you are taking is working it is good to know. Can't believe I just wrote a book on Musinex -
this has to be tough, i wish i had a good answer, just eat small meals often, stay hydrated (even more important now) Praying for you and sending you hugs and good wishes.
