"slow she goes"
Vicki Loichinger replied to annav562's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree. My loses are slow also. But I am fine with that. I don't have as much to lose as some so I figured it would be this way. I am getting better blood sugar numbers on a lot less insulin and that is what is truly important to me right now. So when the scale doesn't move I think of my meter and that helps. -

How is the person who had to fly to get to her mom
Vicki Loichinger replied to copmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Praying for her tomorrow. Glad you made it there and back. Will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow. -
i nearly didn't leave the hospital for fear of the nausea. Made them promise to give me something. They sent me home on the patches. And I used them the first couple of weeks and I have put one on a time or two in the past few weeks. I am over eight weeks out. I would rather have pain then feel yuck. So I was for sure to tell them that I get sick from anesthesia and really made sure that they knew that I would come out throwing up if they didn't give me something. and they did. So I understand your fear. But it can be managed, just be sure and let them know and don't leave the hospital without something to treat it with at home.

Think i hurt my moms feelings....
Vicki Loichinger replied to pookybear's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It always seems that our families try to make all things about "them" I don't think they really know that is what they are doing. But it is. You need to stay with your BF where he can be of help to you and maybe he could bring your Mom to visit you in the hospital and when you get home. Maybe you can think of some other way she can help you. But this time you can't let their feelings come before your acutally needs and well being. Hard I know. Wishing you the best. -

One of those CRAZY nights
Vicki Loichinger replied to michelecaples's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
me too on the tan or vit d or the straight jacket, right now I wish I had a hammer to knock myself out. this only sleeping about three hours is nuts. Four o'clock in the morning I am up, and I didn't go to bed till one. -
praying for safe travels and for your Mom. Please let us know how both of you are doing as soon as you can. While there with her, please remember to sip, walk and rest. Don't stay sat down for long periods of time. Get up walk down the hospital hall and sip all day. Not sure what advice to give for the plane ride, but you might want to get up and walk to the restroom there about every 30 mins, not sure if that is feasible. Dehydration and Blood Clots are your biggest concerns right now. Praying for you.

How Long Was Your Hospital Stay?
Vicki Loichinger replied to sleevemeup's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on Wednesday and Stayed until Sunday. Probably could have went home Saturday but hey if they weren't kicking me out I wasn't leaving. I know too many times in the past I have gotten home and immediately wished I was back at the hospital. This is major surgery and you do need to be able to walk, sip and maybe even have a bite or two. The first day is pretty much a blur with the pain meds, and then each day is better. A lot of people come home on that third day. -

Before Surgery "To Do" Lists, Anyone?
Vicki Loichinger replied to Kathy Pitcher's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is a very good list. I also got my hair cut and my nails done. Explained to daughter that I wanted clean sheets on the bed the day I came home. Paid any bills that would be due in the next couple of weeks. -

Unjury Chix Broth? or Cheese Sauce?
Vicki Loichinger replied to sleevemeup's topic in Food and Nutrition
I am on my second bag of the cheese sauce. It is pretty good stirred into things. I make a couple ounces of mashed pot with skim milk and a scoop of the cheese unjury, very good, I have the chicken flavor and I don't love it but don't hate it. They both are a good way to change it up from all sweet. Their website has recipes and they usually mail you some recipes with your order. The cheese they don't have in individual size, so you could order the whole one of that and a couple of the chicken flavored in the individual size and see how you like them. I just put the cheese into some mashed cauliflower and it was pretty darn good. -

Drinking do you still use the little cups from the hosiptal
Vicki Loichinger replied to copmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since getting home from the hospital, almost eight weeks, I have used a 12 oz wide mouth sports type bottle. It is short and not so overwhelming. I would just sip from it all day and keep refilling it as needed. -
Best tasting protein shakes

Thank you for that link to Baratric Pantry that is a cool site. I will be making use of that soon. -
I didn't sleep well before surgery, always needed to take something to fall asleep. Still do, but now can only sleep about four five hours at most. AND DREAM, the most real dreams you can imagine. Last night I "dreamed" i ate scrambled eggs. Well it was so real I was looking for evidence in the kitchen this morning. I haven't tried eggs since surgery and woke up thinking I had really accomplished something. NAH it was a dream. So I am still scared to try eggs. THE mind is a weird thing.
