Joyce, Angela was very inclusive in her list. The only things I would add is Beano, Mylicon Drops for infants (for gas), liquid antacid (just in case you need it, I used it when I had burping, it was soothing). I have been drinking the liquid yogurts, they are great for Breakfast. if your doctor allows milk products. Ham/turkey grated/ground up w/grated cheese and a little mayo tasted like heaven, eggs (these are for after the liquid phase). I cooked Beans, chili (I puree w/melted cheese it for mushy phase) and made cream of spinach soup and frozen'em for when I got back. Tons, and tons of bottled water!! Happy preparing. I know if you are like me I was sooo excited I could hardly stand myself. Sending thoughts for a uneventful banding and tons of success afterwards. You are on a new exciting adventure. Good Luck. Hi there in Sunnyvale. I am only 10 days post op and do not know a lot about being banded. So far, I can only eat a small amount and feel full. Since I feel full it does not matter what anyone else is eating. The band will not let me overeat or eat to fast. I think you will find that also. Good Luck! Carolyn -
I was banded on 4-2-04 so I am newly banded also. I had read somewhere in all my research about Mylicon Liquid for babies for gas it I think it is the best. Gas X did not do it for me. I take it after I eat and also in the middle of the night when gas (stabbing pains in my ribs!) was a concern. I plan on having it around at all times. I is pure simethicone just like Gas X but it works really fast for me anyway. Good Luck and Happy Banding. Carolyn

Hi All, I am back newly banded 4-2-04. I am wondering why I do not have more energy. On my 4th day post op I felt great. I must admit I did a lot of things around the house and I probably overdid just a bit. Then I was so tired yesterday (slept alot) and today is better but not the same as Tuesday. I read all the archives and there seemed to be a lot of people who went back to work 3 days after surgery. I did have some problems in surgery with adhesions so it took longer and I was allergic to anesthesia so I awoke sick as a dog. I am feeling like a wimp! I usually bounce back quickly from everything. I know I am older that a lot of people and that could contribute. My job is not a sedentary one so I took this week off to recuperate. I am just hopeing I start getting back to normal soon. I really thought it would be a piece of cake and hardly any down time. I was wrong. Do you have any words of wisdom for me. O....btw my doctor told me it would be better for the band if I did not drink alcohol. He said it could contribute to erosion of the band. I for one do not want to go through that again, not to mention the cost. I am opting for no alcohol now and in the future.

Thank ya'll for giving me good advice. I am going to try and do just that . Kathy, I appreciate your input because you are a step ahead of me and I am interested in your personal insights. It sounds like we have the same kind of work activity going on. It is good to have some info regarding the immediate future and I have that to look forward to. Thank you for the encourgement from you both. I meant a lot to me. Carolyn

I am new to the to the forum. I am considering getting the surgery next month. I have been reading everyone's comments and appreciate them so much. It is very comforting to have people who have had the experience to share with everyone else. I am excited and scared all at the same time. I am looking forward to a new way of life. I have to contain myself to keep from running, jumping up and down and hollering. Thank ya'll for being there.
