Hi everyone, I also read other boards but I like this one best. I am new and do not know much so mostly I just lurk. I like it here because if someone tells about their experience about not being perfect ie not eating the "proper" food or portions or whatever, people do not jump in the middle of their s**t, belittle and degrade them or answer like they are the definitive authority in the universe with sarcastic/caustic remarks. I do not understand why they need to answer sarcasticly or rudely when instead they could just go on to another post and not say anything. I'm gad it is not like that here. If/when I have a problem I need advice about it will be here. This is a kinder, more gentle board. I thank ya'll for that. Carolyn

Yahooooo Darcy!! Hope all goes well. Carolyn

Audrey, Oh my, you are doing great. Congrats!! Isn't it nice to be able to have hope to lose the weight? I did not have that before the band. Carolyn
-
LOL Darcy. Forever is a long time. I am glad to know the band has a very long life, I don't want to have to get a replacement anytime soon... Carolyn

Laura, I'm with Ginny I like Boost chocolate. I get the high Protein one. I keep it in the frig and I put a glass and the Boost in the freezer for a few minutes and drink it with ice crystals floating in it yum, yum. It is best very cold. I have tried protein powders and I really like the convenience of having it already mixed up especially in the morning. Carolyn

Darcy, I know waiting is a hard thing to do but after your surgery you will have the peace of mind that your doctor is close at hand should you ever need him. That is worth a lot. Although going to Mexico for my band was an good alternative for me any care I get here close to home, regarding my band, will not be my with surgeon. Carolyn Banded 4-2-04

Number one on my advise list is be sure and shave your legs before you go. You may not feel like bending for awhile. I had to learn this the hard way....lol Good luck! Enjoy your adventure. Carolyn Banded 4-2-04

Leo, Loved your post. It was great with lots of good information and encourgement. That negative thought "I'll be be first one not to be successful having the band" has been coming and going periodically. Thank you it was almost like your post was meant just for me. Carolyn Banded 4-2-04

For gas I'm still recommending Mylicon drops for infants. It is fast and effective. I found I had gas and would have loved to "let it rip" but it seemed to be stuck!! Glad you are back and doing well. Carolyn Banded 4-2-04

Hi Jackie, Glad you are back and feeling well. Be sure and take it easy and don't do too much too soon, like I did. Rest and take care of yourself. Each day you will feel better and stronger. I also started out on liquids the first week and pureed the second week. Enjoy the restriction you feel for now. It seems not to last for very long make the most of it. What I liked best for the gas was Mylicon drops for infants it is simethicone. It was easy to take and worked very fast. Gas X did not do it for me. Sending you thoughts for a speedy recovery. Happy banding. Carolyn Banded 4-2-04

Questions: Re: My Big Day 4/22/04
texasbelle replied to a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Jackie, I was banded on 4-2-04 and I must admit I had reservations, tripidations and misgivings along with elation, excitment on and off until a week after I got back. I think that roller coaster of emotions is somehting the majority of people will feel. I saw a book at the book store called "Feel the Fear, Do It Anyway" and that was like a mantra I use for myself. I am so happy I did go through with it and am on the other side! I am feeling better everyday and looking forward to learning more about myself and my band and a whole new life really. Try to enjoy the excitment and picture yourself home getting well afterwards and getting thin. You will see it all will be worth it. Carolyn -
Jeanie, Thank you for sending your pic. It is good to to see others who have had success. Congrats on your loss. Carolyn

Joyce, Your welcome. I love all things related to cooking and eating too, of course. I have a kick butt French Onion Soup recipe, that is one of my favs. Let me know what your interested in I'll help if I can. Carolyn

Saute veggies in butter....I left that out
-
I don't have an official recipe but this is what I do. Saute chopped onion , celery, bell pepper until soft. Add chicken broth either canned or made from boullion. Add potatoes, chopped fine, boil until soft then puree with hand blender or blend small batches in blender. Serve with dollop sour cream....yum. Amounts of each depend on how much you want to make and your own tastes. Hope this helps. Carolyn

Gretat, Congrats on your banding! I know you are excited. Take it easy, don't do too much too soon like me. Sending thoughts for a speedy recovery, and a lifetime of discovery. Carolyn
