I need input, please. I was banded 13 weeks ago. Losing 2 lbs a week....so far. I live about 10 1/2 hours away from Monterrey where I was banded. It just so happens I am working about 2 hours away for the next week. Everytime I think I need a fill (because I am beginning to get really hungry and can eat two cups or so of food in the evening, when I let myself) when I call the Dr.'s coordinator about a fill immediately if not sooner I feel restriction. Water goes down lumpy (perhaps from too big of a drink?) like today after work. Then tonight I was feeling hungry again a couple of hours after eating. The coordinator says that is too much food and I need a fill. I am kinda anxious about getting the fill. So far I can eat pretty much anything except the regular things like bread, dry chicken & dry pork. I am thinking maybe I am attempting to sabatoge my success. Perhaps I am scared (uncertain) about what eating with a fill will be like. I do remember what it was like right after surgery feeling so full on just a little bit and not feeling hungry. It was great. Maybe I should go ahead and go down and get checked out and talk to the doctor. See what he thinks. I hate to waste his and my time on nothing. What do ya'll think?? I'm thinking I'm being a big scared weenie. I'm so glad I have all ya'll to consult with I feel like I'm talking to ya. Help! Thanks for listening....Carolyn

YeeeeeHawwww Jeanie......good going! Your success is inspiring thanks for sharing your experience. Carolyn

Thank ya'll so much for responding. I am so glad I have this board. It is good to know I am not alone in my apprehension. I have, for the moment anyway, decided since I am this close to go ahead and go on down. It would be foolish to let my fear keep me from making a prudent choice. Thank you for being there for me. Carolyn

Thanks De.....you don't mind if I call you De do you? I am anxious to hear how she is doing. I am nervous for her. Carolyn

I love fitday. I have been faithfully using it for 2 months. I have never been faithful about anything re:dieting. For me it is a form of accountability to myself. It has helped me be informed about just what the actually calories are not to mention carbs/fat etc. I'm a big fan. I think it helps me. Carolyn

I never post there and have not even been reading that board anymore because of just the kind of response you got Donali. Some people are just hate filled and it comes out in the guise of "trying to help". My motto is "It is nice to be important but it is more important to be nice". I applaud your restraint,

Howdy Keith and welcome. You have found a great message board with kind, caring and knowledgeable members. They are always ready to help with advice and a laugh when you need it. Carolyn

Donali....I am so sad for you. I cannot believe this has happened. I am terrified knowing you did all the right things and this happened. I am re-dedicating myself to make the most of the time I have my band. I know if anything happens to me and mine band I would not be able to afford to re-band. I have been gettting lax in my eating and vow to go forward with new fervor. Thank you for all your advice and inspiration. You are appreciated. Carolyn

Congrats!! I know it feels so good to show a loss. I did not this week and I am bummed. I am going to re-double my efforts in the upcoming days. Carolyn

To those who went abroad to Mexico.....

Good one Theresa! What about very loose cool clothing and if you fly get a wheel chair at check in to take you to the gate and arrange to have one waiting on the other end when you deplane. That really helped me. Carolyn -

Jane....I took a book on tape which was nice to have. Also, be sure and shave your legs, assuming you do, you may not feel like bending over for awhile. I did not and boy did they get hairy before I felt like bending. Pack light and take lots of small bills for tipping. Those are my words of wisdom. Carolyn -
I agree with Donali.....I was banded and then after 4 weeks all of a sudden I got restriction just out of the blue. That was almost 7 weeks ago and I still have not had a fill. When/if I do I plan on waiting to make sure before I do anything else. Good luck.... Carolyn

Yes, I was banded by Dr. Arturo Rodriquez on 4-2-04. He is a very competent surgeon and a geniunely kind person. He has been placing the band for many years. I do not regret choosing him for my surgery. The hospital was only 2 years old and very modern and beautiful. Everyone was very attentive to my needs. The hotel he uses is the Hilton and it was excellent. I was well taken care of in and out of the hospital. Everyone loves the doctor that does their band. There are many that are available. I am sure you will make the right decision for you and your success. Carolyn

I was banded 4-2-04 and I was also scared and excited. I got more scared as the time grew closer but it all went great and I got back home and it has been an exciting journey ever since. Two weeks after banding ya'll will be up and at'em like before only better 'cause you'll have your bands. Try and hang in and think about not feeling starved right after eating, not being consumed by thoughts of food and looking forward to the next meal, feelin full (a full like I had never felt before) after only eating a small amounts. These are my experiences before and after. You will be able to say with feeling I LOVE MY BAND!! Good luck ya'll will do fine! Carolyn

Terry, Thanks for your post and pic. It helps us that are new on our banding journey to see and hear success stories. You look great and much younger than your "number". Thank you. Carolyn -
Dede, I was sorry to hear about your set back. I know having to wait is a hard thing to do. I hope you will hear other people stories of denials in the beginning that ended with a banding and weight loss success. Wishing you all the best. Carolyn

Darcy, I had/have all of the same feelings and concerns and they contributed to me making the huge decision to have the srugery. From my limited time being banded I have been glad I made that decision. Today I think, for I change my opionions and ideas regularly with additional information and from my own experience, that there are conditions that can make a more successful bandster. The ability/willingness to listen to what your body is telling you. Being comfortable in ever changing conditions. Not everyone can adapt easily to constant change especially when it is within your own body. What you can eat, can't eat, when you can eat, not eat. Messing up eating too much or too fast having to go on liquids. It is just an adventure and not boring at all. I think for me it has required me to look at and pay attention to myself something I have, in the past, been unable or unwilling to do before. I LOVE MY BAND ADVENTURE!!
-
Darcy that is such good news. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Good Luck. Carolyn

Donali you always have such good input. I'm glad you here. Carolyn

Jennye you look beautiful. I like the no glasses look. ALEX! You are but a babe yourself. Jennye and you both have "young" arms. Carolyn
-
Vera.....you look great! Thanks for posting your pics. It helps to see others in their successes (is that a word? It made me make a whistling sound) anyway I appreciate you sharing. Carolyn

Birdee, I feel exactly as you do. I also read some other boards for information but this is my fav. I love this board too!

Gas X did not work well/fast enough for me. I got Milicon liquid for infants(I also got a generic called Infants Simethicone Drops). It is very fast acting and you don't have to chew or wait for the capsule to work. I intend to keep some handy at all times. My husband as tried it and also likes it. Carolyn
