I hope this isn't a repeat from any previous posts but I'm wondering if anyone has found any decent work out gear that would help out with excess skin or just hanging parts? Or to be blunt would help avoid some of the flopping around! I feel like it makes my work outs a lot more uncomfortable wearing super loose clothes but before I spend the money to buy something different I figured I would ask. I just started the beachbody T25 exercise program and there is a lot of jumping involved. Thanks for any advice!!! Maggie

I was banded at the end of November and have had one fill. I have done relatively well losing weight pre op but since the surgery I have kind of slumped. I'm feeling no restriction yet which makes it very easy for me to over eat and I'm having difficulties keeping it in check. Any suggestions on how to stop this behavior? I'm afraid I'm reverting back to my old binge eating ways and could use some advice!

Any suggestions to curb emotional eating?
lvlymaggie replied to lvlymaggie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for everyones thoughts on this. I am going to talk to the PA that does the fills at my surgeons office about moving them closer together. I believe they generally do it every month until I start to feel something but this time around there was a scheduling conflict and I couldn't get in until the beginning of march. She did warn me I might not feel anything until after the 2nd or 3rd fill. I'm definitely going to try some of your suggestions! Keeping it out of my house is the hardest part! My husband tries to be supportive but doesn't understand that means he can't bring certain items into our house! -
Any suggestions to curb emotional eating?

They waited 6 weeks for first fill and then I'm going for my next early march. Not really sure why they spread it out so much! -
Before I contact the nutritionist with some specific questions I figured I would check here first. I was banded on 11/26 and started full liquids today. I'm wondering how long people did liquids before introducing purees? Our pre op program has all weight loss surgeries lumped together so I'm wondering if it's necessary to be on liquids for as long as those other folks or if it can be as tolerated? I feel like their guidelines are a really long time to not be eating real food. I understand the need to let your body heal but they have it almost a month before you're eating solid foods. Just wondering what others experiences are. If I have to do it that long I will!

Is this only main meals or are people not drinking before and after snacks as well? Does it depend on the size of the meal? Just trying to figure out how to get in all the water with smacks! Surgery is November 26th! Getting excited!

Introduction - Question About Lp - Wife Note Thrilled
lvlymaggie replied to stevew's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Steve, I am also new and have not gotten my surgery yet, but have it scheduled after Thanksgiving. I was also really worried about the possible complications involved with the band and I could tell my surgeon was not really a band fan, but I really feel like it's the best choice for me. People will have complications with any surgery and I'm a lot more comfortable with something that may have complications and is reversable over something that isn't. Regardless of which surgery you choose it is still you doing all the work. It frustrates me when people say you are cheating, or this is the easy way out. As I've been reading people's experiences this is by no means the easy way out. This is just another thing that will help you feel better and get healthier. Good luck on your decision making! -

Risks. How Did You Decide They Were Worth It?
lvlymaggie posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is scheduled for the end of November and as I'm continuing to do my research I'm reading a lot of recent information about the risks associated with the band. How did people decide that these risks were worth more then the risks of other surgeries. For me one of the things I liked about the band was that it was reversable but not with the assumption that eventually Id have to have it removed. Just curious about others thoughts! -

What made you choose the lap band over other choices? I definitely feel the same about my need just curious how others decided to go with the band. -
I've been fighting with my weight probably since I was 8 years old. Probably since my ballet instructor told me I better watch what I was eating at age 7 or they wouldn't let me move onto point. I solved that problem by quiting ballet the next year. I progressively got heavier and I remember in 8th grade I weighed 175 and was going to a nutritionist. I think of that number now with envy of my 14 year old self. In high school I maintained at between 200-214. I was active on the track team, tennis team, had plenty of friends. Wouldn't call myself popular but definitely not unpopular. Long story short I didn't let the fact that I was overweight stop me from doing the things I wanted to do. I liked that about me and I embraced my body. I think that would have been the end of my story had I been able to maintain what I weighed then, even if it was well above the approprate weight standard for my height. Needless to say I couldn't maintain it and progressively gained. In that time frame I got married and had a baby. And when I hit the scales at 322 I realized that I needed to do something drastically different in my life or I would die and miss parts of my daughter's life I didn't have to. So this past January I went to the free session and learned about my options. Unfortunately the surgeon didn't show up but it was enough to make me think this is something I want to do. After learning that my insurance didn't cover the procedure I figured that this was not going to happen for me. The hospital offered to try to get me qualified for a reduced cost plan which I then waited months to even fill out. I found out in June that I would qualify and that I would get help with some of the costs of the procedure. Even though I will still be paying something out of pocket, it wasn't so much I didn't think this was possible for me. Since starting the program in Mid July I've lost just about 20 lbs. I still have my good days and my bad days but the important thing is, I've started. And I am learning how to eat better everyday. My surgery is scheduled for November 27th and it will be one more tool in my aresenal.

Amazing! So great to hear your success. -
Hi Everyone, I'm new to the site and definitely looking to hear about everyones experiences. I am scheduled for my surgery on November 27th and am really nervous. This was my first meeting with my surgeon, and it's what he told me about the lap band that made me nervous. He just seemed like he wasn't really a big fan of it and he felt that the other surgerys were better. The whole thing made me think I was maybe making a huge mistake. I feel better now but it would be great to hear some stories!

I appreciate everyones feedback. The more I thought about things I think the surgeon was just trying to prepare me for the difficulties ahead which Ive already been aware of. I think this choice really will help me lose weight and I don't need it to be quick. I just need a little help. Again thanks everyone!
