As a kid I was a very active athlete. As an adult, wife and mother, the pounds came on slowly until I was 30 yrs old and 250 lbs. With a divorce, came weight loss. I exercised like a fiend! I look back and say I was an exercise bulimic. Every time I ate something, I did a workout of some sort to work off the calories. I lost 80 lbs in about 6 months. I married a wonderful man when I was 36. The pounds I had lost, plus another 30 had crept back on by the time I was 40. At 280, I was having knee problems. After 2 scopes on each knee, they were replaced when I was 48. Now, at 52, I have finally decided that I can't lose the weight on my own again. The activities that I could do at 30, and with good knees, are no longer possible. From 2000 to 21012 i tried many different diets. With the full support of my husband, I was banded on Nov 27, 2012. I am learning new eating habits. My first big challenge was yesterday, Dec 15. I went to Lincoln on a shopping trip with my daughter. We had to eat out, my first experience since band. Did pretty well! I ordered a grilled chicken breast with BBQ sauce, and the mashed potatoes at Ruby Tuesday. When my plate came, I sectioned off what I was going to eat, mashed the chicken, and had a wonderful meal. It was kind of wasteful because I wasn't going home, so I didn't take the leftovers, but it is what it is! Later, we went to a movie. I have not been to a movie without popcorn....ever! I have to say, I didn't really miss it! Next up....Christmas! And my first fill on Jan 2. Just need to keep my eye on the prize!
