It is officially my 1 year ban-anniversary! YEA!
Over Stuffed! posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My expectations of this journey were to have lost all the weight by this time and to be healthy. The reality is I have lost 55 lbs and that is great for me and i am only half way there. My health has improved in every area! I am walking up to 7 miles a day...who would have thought I could make accomplishments like this...ever? I am feeling comfortable and full of energy. My outlook has improved 100% I look forward to each day! I am a slow loser but that is OK with me as long as the weight keeps coming off and I am healthy. When this journey began I was determined to be successful and I feel like I've got control of this and my life. So...happy anniversary to me.....the ever changing me who I am beginning to enjoy again! I wish great success to my fellow banisters and my wish for everyone is to find your success and celebrate! Don't give up ever! -
You have got this! Trust in your surgeon....I am sure you will be great!

I began taking prenatal vitamins along with biotin which helped considerably! One year post op and that has worked well for me! Good luck! -
Just curious??
Over Stuffed! replied to BigOBoy123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes ...small bites and chew..chew..chew! Good luck! Kerryisme would be correct about the green zone and getting stuck or uncomfortable. -
Yes, have had soreness and bruising after fills when the needle caught the side of the port. It goes away and feels better with time. Sometimes the pants I wear will also catch me at the wrong spot and create discomfort as well.

What made you decide to be successful?
Over Stuffed! replied to lellow's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I felt my life was closing in on me and getting very small and my health was suffering! On the border of being diabetic, high blood pressure, sleep issues then Cancer diagnosis was the final straw. The cancer was mostly due to my unbalanced hormones and excessive weight! That all made me wake up and get with the program. Cancer is under control and being monitored with testing. It took a lot to jump through the insurance hoops, but here I am one year later post surgery and almost halfway to my goal. I allow myself to have moments of imperfection, however they are just that a moment! For the most part I am dedicated and I don't allow myself to feel like a failure or down anymore. Been there and done that did not like it at all! With the right self motivation anyone can do this...it is learning about your body and listening to it as well. For me it is eat slowly and stop when full don't go back to food until your body tells you to. Good luck in your journey! Have faith in yourself! -
FitBit Flex... had anyone used it and did it help?
Over Stuffed! replied to renewed_mind's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I do not have the fit bit ......do to my fear of clipping it in my clothing and washing it! I went with the Jawbone which is a bracelet with all the same bells and whistles as a fit bit. It tracks my steps workouts and my food. I do have to enter my food by taking pictures with my phone of bar codes and adjusting the serving size. I have a team on my jaw bone and we will see daily who has the greater number of steps. They say you can also shower with the jawbone,.....I do not. Love the sleep mode, I have learned I require 3.5 hours of deep sleep to feel refreshed for my day. Good luck in your decision! -
I had to go clothes shopping due to my job I wear dress pants and suits, my pants are to the point I am afraid they will fall to my ankles! So shopping I went...... to my shock I bought 2 size 14 pants ....not womans size but regular size 14! I remain in shock, mostly because I continue to see the really out of shape in need of work woman in the mirror! I know and am fine with the fact that I am a slow loser and this is just fine with me as long as the scale goes lower. But, when will I see someone I can relate to in the mirror? It is almost my one year bananniversary. Best decision I ever made, I now know what the "green zone" feels like.....heaven! I have so got this! Just wish my mind would catch up with my weight loss!

Yes, tips are to remain focused, try not to over eat to expand your pouch keeping your food to 1&1/2 cups or less and change your food to healthy choices of fresh healthy food you enjoy, Never, never drink with your food. Wait one hour before drinking! Begin to walk or do some exercise you enjoy and keep it up don't stop..... make goals! As you do these things you will feel better and more energized! Know what food sticks to you such as real meat protein for longer periods of time. The slider foods like soup and protein bars will not keep you full as long. Most important forgive yourself when you slip up ........ shake it off and forge forward! Please just ask if you have any questions! I have found this forum to be supportive and helpful! Good luck in your journey!

Angemc, you are right it is a journey! I can say I am not exactly perfect with everything, however I am quite determined! When they refer to the post surgery time thru the time you have reached your perfect fill levels as bandster hell....that is no joke! Trying to eat less and change lifelong eating habits is truly hell without that feeling of full restriction. It is all better and worth it at the end! The band will begin to work for you and this does get so much easier! Hang in there everyone and don't give up you worked too hard to get the band to stop now!

Yea...that is so wonderful! Congratulations!

Reading saved me....not a regular book reader, however during my pre op and my surgery I read several books which assisted in taking my mind off of everything! Best of luck to you and don't allow any bad thoughts to creep into your world! You have this be strong! -
Your welcome! Please keep in mind you do not just get the band and the weight falls off. We do have to go through a period where we continue to develop good eating habits and exercise. When the fills get you to the green zone it all begins to really work on its own with little effort. Just know you will be in that struggle period first before it becomes very easy! Hang in there....it is so worth it. For the record I have seen others have much less struggle than I and greater loss in shorter periods. Everyone is different! Best of luck my friend in making a better happier future for you! My future is so bright and full of energy,I hope that success for you as well! Love my band!

Here goes my 2 cents of advise for what it is worth.... I am just shy of my one year ban anniversary. This has been the most challenging and rewarding year in my life! Not challenging with complications or issues but with having to listen to my body and most of all by not giving up! I am finally in the green zone and the weight is steady now. I also have resigned that I am a slow loser which is OK with me as long as it is coming off and I am in good health. (Lost just under 50lbs so far) My best advise is take the positive suggestions that you find have merit here, (check with your Dr before adding supplements) from this site and do not allow any negative suggestions or stories have a negative impact on your own success. This is now your story to write, live or tell, so make it something you can be proud of and avoid all negative! It was that negative thinking which got me to this place in life! For the record I told my Dr today this is the best I have felt in 2 years! I am loving life again! Priceless!

I Can't Figure Out Where My Port Is.
Over Stuffed! replied to yourshoesareuntied's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's my location at the long incision. -
Only discomfort from surgery not any true feeling of having a strange object in me as I thought I would. For the most part unless I over eat a little, I don't know it is there. Best of luck in your journey. Here to assist if you have questions.
