In my experience I lost almost 30 pounds in the first 2 months (including what I lost on the pre-surgical diet) Now, I know that realistically I will not maintain that rate of loss, but everything that I have read is that you can reasonably expect to lose 1-2 pounds a month.

wow, thanks for sharing, this really helps newbies like me to keep motivated and keep going when the light at the end of tunnel begins to dim. Do you have any pictures to share? I would love to see your transition.

you might have swallowed a bunch of air, if it gets under the band it actually causes your stomach to distend and it is very painful. My doctor told me to take a gas x like an after dinner mint with each meal to help prevent this.

hmmm..I don't know that it cooks it...but I use Unjury Protein and they sent me recipes for making hot drinks with it. I do not that it cannot be too hot or it will not mix well. No such thing as a dumb question!

I sometimes add vanilla or chocolate protein powder to my coffee...tastes like one of those fancy coffee drinks!

I am fairly certain it is not your gallbladder, the gall bladder is on the right side. I can tell you that I get this type of pain on my left side when I have eaten something too heavy. For example, I tried to eat some whole wheat bread and maybe I didn't chew as well as I should have, but I had that pain bothering me all night. It also good be gas. Try some gas-x.

I wore a pajama set and slippers. It was nice and loose and it worked out well for my drive home which was about an hour and a half.

I have been banded 3 weeks now and I have had no instructions to stop protein drinks. I cannot eat animal Proteins so I have to get it somewhere. These drinks are sugar free. I am diabetic as well and these have helped me get the good quality protein that I need. -

As far as the absorption rate of protein and whether or not you actually get 25 or 30, I have yet to see any concrete science to back it up. There are just as many articles out there that would argue against those that say you should not eat more than that at a time. Regardless, let me get back to my original point...for those of us that have a hard time eating animal protein, this is a good supplement. Whether you choose to consume it all at once or throughout the day, it still helps you get over half your daily requirement in. Just food for thought. -

are you on clear liquids, or all liquids? There is an important distinction. If you are on clear liquids, try sugar free popsicles, different broths, diluted fruit juice, etc. If you are on all liquids, you have a little more freedom. You can basically eat anything that could go through a straw. You can puree vegetable soup and drink it, or try cream of wheat, puddings, yogurt. You will get through this I promise! -
Psychologist Questions?
amyknecht replied to desertrose92's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess my experience was different, super easy. They asked only 3 or 4 questions to make sure I wasn't suicidal and that my goals were realistic and that was it. He signed off on the surgery within about 3 minutes. I will say that I personally sought out a councelor on my own. I needed that extra help dealing with my past eating disorder because I knew it would creep up again with this surgery. I was seeing her about 2 times a week for a couple of months, now we just talk on the phone every now and again. Totally worth the time and money. Good luck to you! -

I have never hear this about protein, carbohydrates for sure, but not protein...proteins are the building blocks of muscle. I will have to look into that. -

Tooting But No Burping?

Try a heating pad, that seemed to help me. Also, try to get up and move around a bit, carefully!
