Be Honest- Is Banded Life Hard?

It is the BEST thing I have ever done for myself! I can generally eat anything I want - but I am satisfied with much smaller portions. Because I don't make any foods "off limits", I never feel deprived.

How Does It Feel To Be "stuck"?

My stuck episodes are usually because I ate too big of a bite. Immediately, I get a burning pain - not severe, but very uncomfortable. Usually I feel a desire to keep swallowing - but it can take from a couple of minutes to maybe 10 minutes to get it to pass through my band. Luckily for me, it always has and I've yet to bring anything back up. WIshing you lots of luck on this journey! It's tough sometimes, but soooo well worth it!

    New Here! Day 6 Post-Banding

I was hungry from about day 3 post-op. I was so upset since every single post-op person in my support group said they never feel hungry! Couldn't imagine what was wrong with me!! I was on clear liquids and had such pain and nausea from hunger I thought I was going to go crazy. Started full liquids 2 days earlier than scheduled. Cream of chicken soup tasted like a Thanksgiving meal!! I am almost 3 months post-op and get hungry all the time. I eat small, healthy meals/snacks throughout the day and I am down about 25 lbs. Have not gotten a fill - and don't know if I even want one yet. I am losing weight - and I literally never feel deprived - so why fix what ain't broke? All I can say is that this surgery is the BEST thing I ever did for myself! The beginning was hard - but knowing where I am now... all worth it! Hang in there... Sending hugs and prayers your way.

    Support Of Loved Ones/death

So very sorry for your loss. Sending you prayers of strength through this very difficult time. I truly believe that those we love remain with us. I know that someone who, obviously, loved you so dearly will be with you as long as you need him. God bless you...

    Why Am I Not Losing???

I was banded 5 weeks ago today - and i am not looking at the scale anymore since the number doesn't seem to be going down at all! Instead, I am focusing on the changes in my body. I just went shopping tonight and bought pants 2 SIZES smaller!!! I am slimming down without losing a lot of weight. Plus, I am feeling good! So much healthier - and happier! I agree with jen_1381 - this is a marathon, not a sprint...

    August 2012 Bandsters Progress

I was banded on 8/29. My pre-surgical weight was 191. Currently 176. When I went for my second post-surgical weigh-in, I GAINED 2 pounds!! WTF?? Although I am happy to be down 15 pounds total in one month, I've decided not to bother worrying about the scale. My clothes are hanging off me - down almost 2 sizes already - and that's gauge enough for me! Haven't had a fill yet. My next appointment is Thursday. Really hope the scale doesn't show a gain again... that would just be too freaky for me!

    Tmi Question

I didn't have a BM until my 10th day post-op! And I never even felt uncomfortable.

    Bloated And Gassy!

I am almost 3 weeks post-op and am in the mushies stage. I think I have been pretty careful with chewing and taking small bites. Unfortunately, I have been getting gas pains and so bloated that I have needed to take Gas-X a few times since starting mushies. I haven't had any vegetables yet since I've been focusing on protein. I've been able to get, maybe, 2 oz. of chicken in before I'm full. Is this normal?? Thanks for any words of advice!

    It Does Get Better!

Hi everyone! I was banded on 8/29 so it's been 2 1/2 weeks for me. I had the WORST buyers remorse during the first 5 days! Thought about what the heck I did to myself - and cried pitiful tears... kandikay76 has it right - it gets much better! I am on mushies now and feel like my old self again. I have no doubt that this was the right thing for me, My weight has been coming off - but more importantly, my clothes are getting baggy! It's crazy! If you're still in the struggling stage - hang in there!! I know it feels like forever, but it's such a short time in the grand scheme of things. Feeling better is just a couple of days away!

    Hunger Pains

I had exactly the same thing. Terrible hunger pains and a pit in my stomach that made me feel so nauseous. I couldn't tolerate anything sweet - just thinking of my protein shake turned my stomach. I called my doctor's office and he allowed me to have strained, cream soup. Made a huge difference!

    Banded Today!!!

Congratulations! I got my band 10 days ago and also had the discomfort/pressure in my chest that you are talking about. I think mine was due, in part, to the aftermath of anesthesia and being intubated. Make sure you keep taking deep breaths and expand your lungs. It's uncomfortable, but in the long run it helped to get rid of that feeling. Good luck!
