DebbieC1970 reacted to suzannetex in mourning the loss of food
I completely understand. My poor family caught 9 kinds of heli about a week after my surg. I was just mad cause I wanted to eat. But I got over it real quik. I was banded 12-12-12 and I'm doing just fine with cooking supper and them snacking in font of me. But oh boy I was mean there for a few days. Guess I was mourning food too. Never thought of it like that. It goes away:)
Good luck. It's all gonna b ok

Does anyone have a hard time "eating" in the am? I have a hard time getting my shakes down. From nausea to pain, it seems like it's better to wait a couple hours.

costco veggie snack chips are all of the above stated AND. ... That bag is huge! They wouldn't last me a year as they should because they are sliders. In a moment of weakness, I'd down them all in a few days. I wouldn't risk having them around.

Ok, I was the 18th … but yes, I sat back yesterday and gave a smile … wishing myself a 1 week Happy Bandaversary!!! LOL!! We are all doing so well … all that fear, anticipation, anxiety, and build-up of excitement … now, it's like proud and peaceful joy! As of Christmas Eve I am down 28 pounds … including pre-op stuff.
I also thought I'd share this with you ...
One of my best-friends was here visiting for Christmas and last night we sat up talking … he asked me, "So, tell me, is there any food you find yourself really missing?"
I thought about it for a minute and then said, "No …. but …. that's because I know these phases are temporary and that at the end of the tunnel my behavior will be altered so that my mind eat well and my stomach is altered so that my mind doesn't fool itself!"
Then it came to me … my feeling about food right now … there's not much I miss, but there is a lot I'm looking forward to! LOL!! Never thought the idea of scrambled eggs would make me so happy … LOL!
The Christmas feast was easier to get through then I thought … how did you make out??

DebbieC1970 reacted to wildrose1966 in What if i dont want to diet?
I am 3 months out and not at restriction so in all reality I am on a diet, because my band is not working for me. And I figure I will be 'on a diet' (eating good choices, sticking to 1 cup of food per meal and 1200 calories per day) for the rest of my life. Call it a diet, call it healthy eating, call it good choices......it is never going to be the way it was pre band. You mentioned specifically chips and Cookies. What I have read from the vets on here that chips and cookies and cakes are the easiest things to eat in quantities being banded because they are considered sliders foods, meaning they slide on right thru. So I am not sure the band will stop you from eating a bag of chips or a sleave of cookies. It really does have to be your willpower. Good luck to you.

I am at goal basically so I am not dieting... And watching my calories like i did while i was losing.... But since don't want to gain back the weight, I listen to my band and stop after small portions. The band physically will not let me overeat but it doesn't stop me from eating the wrong things....that's up to me.
I know if I eat too many calories I will gain weight. So I chose not to do it but I certainly don't think of it as a diet...it's more of a lifestyle change.

In my support group one of the ladies suggested turkey pepperoni "chips". Heat ur oven 325, put one serving of the pepperoni in a signal layer, sprinkle with low fat cheese and bake till crispy. My diet will consist of 4-5 mini meals, so this could be one with a couple apple slices. I'm only 2days post op, can't wait to try them.

veggie snack chips (if they are in a bag), they are processed and full of sodium and preservatives....best to eat fresh fruit and veggies.

I was banded yesterday and determined to go home that so i walked, walked, walked. It really does help. The worst part for me is getting up or laying down. That hurts!! Once im up or laying down, im fine. Now I'm sipping Water, eating Jello with a baby spoon and just relaxing.
We did it guys, we're here! Our new life is just around the corner!!

So... my two week pre-op liquid diet is over... surgery is at 9:15 tomorrow.
What I have learned over the past two weeks is that I am capable of getting through holiday parties and lunches and meals drinking broth and juice. It was the fastest two weeks of my life and now there is no looking back. I already feel better, I am off of all of my insulin already. I am so excited about the weeks and months to come! Thanks for all of your messages and inspiration over these last few weeks, it helped so much to get through hunger, and confusion and fear.....I will check in and let all of you know how surgery went. I am so EXCITED for all of us!!!!!!!!!! Keep on going!!!
