I am addicted to food, via my emotions and brain. It's a tough place to be sometimes but, it works out if you work on yourself.

SF icecream and SF popsicles have been the only thing that saved me from craziness at night! My nutritionist said not to eat it, and I understand why. I don't have it all the time any more. It's nice to know it's in the freezer though.

Weight gain post gastric bypass......
Molly1978 replied to inemr1's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I can so I can so relate! I'm only 1 year out and I find I can eat almost anything in small amounts and if I go slow. It's scary to me. Snacking is my #1 biggest downfall. #2 is eating small amounts of carbs here and there. It's a daily struggle. I need to start logging my food again and becoming more focused. When things get so busy at home/school/work, it's so easy to get derailed. BUT, I know I can keep moving the scale down! I did it before, right? I just tell myself that I'm an emotional food addict (because I am, ha!) and that it's like any other addict. Go to support group and talk. It's a long journey but, so worth the effort as we all know. -

Calling nurses for help
Molly1978 replied to AutumnPunkin's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm not an RN but I do work in the health care field in a hospital. I've learned that I have to prepare prior to work. Whether it's packing a lunch/water/vitamins, or just preparing mentally. I know it sounds a little self-centered but, I would talk about what I needed to do to with my co-workers. Actually, now that I think about it, I talk about it all the time at work! ha ha! Now I talk about it because another one of my close coworkers is going through the same process so, that also helps me to stay focused. Bottom line, you're going to have to make time for yourself. I know it will be hard. Nurses work HARD. But, once you get into a routine at work, it will get easier. Good luck! -

Molly1978 replied to Cherry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had a few gains also. But I finally got to my goal weight. Just don't stop doing whatever they tell you to do. -
Need words of encouragement
Molly1978 replied to crmills74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to stay on the scale to keep myself on track. I always gain a few pounds with my period. It's frustrating. -
Does anyone add chia seeds on a daily basis? I think they're high in protein.

I don't yet but I want to. I was going to talk with my nutritionist and research juicing with bariatric surgery before I start.

Way to go! Keep up the good work! You look great! -
I was surprised that I felt so much pain after surgery. BUT, I would do it all over again 10 times to be where I am today. I was surprised that I actually lost so much weight! ha ha ha I knew I was going to but, it was more of a faraway dream. Now I'm living my dream.

When did your weight loss slow down?
Molly1978 replied to Jilllorraine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel EXACTLY the same way. I'm 4 months out from RNY and have lost a tremendous amount of weight but I am starting to get nervous about the slowness of my weightloss now. I feel like I have 2 months left (6 month window of opportunity they told me) to "gitr done" so to speak. I'm nervous that after the 6month window, I wont loose anymore weight. Which I know is silly thinking because I probably will, it will just be very very slow. What if I gain it all back after the 6 months?! Aaaaaa! lol What happens to other people after 6 months? -
Worst comment you've heard so far
Molly1978 replied to michelecaples's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My comments from others were: "Wow! You're going to look so much better!" (Thanks, I guess I didn't know how hideous I really was) "Oh how sad!" (I'm still at a loss on that one) "You got your neck back" (Hold the phone, I thought I always had a neck) -
Don't beat your self up for talking to your friends about your troubles. That's what friends are for, right? The holidays are sooooo hard. I'm going to try and have a step by step plan for the 24th and 25th. I'm frustrated to about this time of year. I feel like I'm gonna gain it all back! Just keep focusing on surgery. It's the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Try to take it one day at a time, one hour at a time, one moment at a time. One person can only do so much, for yourself and others.
