  1. Surgery tomorrow! So nervous yet excited! How painful is recovery? I have a two year old at home...yikes!

  2. Great story. I too was on a lot of insulin (am dose, with meals and nighttime lantus), as well as metformin twice a day. I started the liquid pre-op diet five days ago, and I have not taken any insulin or metformin because my sugars have been perfectly normal, and I have been checking incessantly just to be on the safe side. I understand that this may or may not change once I begin adding food to the mix, but I honestly believe that since I will be making healthy choices and having smaller portions, the sugars will remain normal. Let's hope I enjoy the same success you have! Congratulations. You must be thrilled!

Down 32 Lbs In 2 Months!!

Congratulations! That's wonderful! I love to hear the excitement. I am getting banded in a week, and I am so looking forward to this. I hope to have a similarly happy story to share soon!
  4. You are definitely not alone. I have felt that way too, but I just keep reminding myself that losing weight and feeling good is so much more important to me than the temporary satisfaction that comes from eating favorite foods. By no means is it easy, but so many others just like us have succeeded at this, so there is no reason to think we won't succeed too! I suggest just taking it one day, actually, one minute at a time. Just deal with the here and now in making the right choices. It's too overwhelming to think of the foods you love that you can never eat again. I just keep trying to think of how good it will feel to be healthier, more active and to just enjoy life again. It'll be worth every sacrifice. I love food too, believe me (big Italian family), and haven't always made the best choices in terms of carbs and portion control, but I know I'll love being thinner even more than I love eating, so I'm committed to making the right changes. Good luck. You can do it!
  5. Thank you for the warm welcome. I wish you luck in October. How long do you have to do the pre-op diet for?
  6. Hello everyone! I am getting banded on the 6th. I am very excited. Even though I will still be on a liquid diet for two weeks after, I am hoping it will be a bit easier than the pre-op liquid diet. I am on day 5 of 11, and I am still hungry much of the time, although, I am happy to be past the initial headaches. (They lasted the first three days). On a positive note, I am completely off of my insulin based on my blood sugars being back to normal just from the liquid diet! I will still have to monitor closely for a while, but one of my biggest goals was to get off some of these diabetic meds, so things are looking up. Good luck to all of you on your personal journeys!
  7. Hello everyone! This is my first post. Getting banded on the 6th. Survived day 5 of my pre-op liquid diet. Ugh! Only 6 more days of this until surgery. Thank God for Unjury Protein powder because those shakes are my saving grace! Why is it that when you can't eat certain foods, they suddenly look so much more appetizing than ever before? Went to the grocery store today for my family. Not so fun. Oh well...no one said this would be easy. On a positive note, I am completely motivated and excited for next week.
