Pregnancy symptoms different after wls?
julia7665 replied to akaleela's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Yes I knew before. I was overly hungry to the point where I felt like I never felt full. I also feel ovulation a lot more, but that started happening after a miscarriage I had in 2015. I was a lot more queasy in the beginning of this pregnancy than I was with my daughter. I didn't have morning sickness at all with her. -
Shrink stretched pouch after pregnancy?
julia7665 replied to JessRose's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I know I've been told that your stomach will shrink down to what you eat. So if you start measuring out your one cup portion sizes again, your stomach should shrink back down to that and you should start feeling restriction again. -
Even if it's a cheese stick or a boiled egg or something. It doesn't have to be a shake. Supposedly the protein helps your fasting blood sugar normalize. It didn't help me, but my sugars were never under control with my first, they had to keep raising my insulin. It sounds like your other sugars are good, so I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Try eating protein before going to bed, I was told this would make my fasting blood sugar in the AM lower. I had GD for my last pregnancy pre-surgery. I'm hoping to be free of it this time or at the very least be able to control with diet as I was on insulin last time. Good luck!

Weight loss after pregnancy
julia7665 replied to dcimental's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I haven't been pregnant since surgery, but we are currently trying to get pregnant. I just wanted to reply that your situation sounds pretty normal for any post pregnancy, surgery or not. I hope you are successful in losing your pregnancy weight. I know that breast feeding helped a lot for me with my first daughter, I dropped about 30 lbs in a couple months (even though I gained it back after stopping). -
We are actively TTC. Do you recommend going to see the nutritionist before getting pregnant? Should we be eating differently than the norm? I changed my multivitamin to a prenatal. We just started last month. Hoping it doesn't take to long until we get a positive result!!

Anyone From Buffalo, Ny Out There?
julia7665 replied to chilihot59's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my seminar end of March last year and had surgery June 26th last year. It all depends on you and your insurance. Sooner you get your requirement done, the faster you will have surgery -
Today is my one year surgiversary!! Couldn't be happier and according to my surgeon I am at goal. Started a at 212 and I'm down to 134. Still see myself as the fat girl, but I'm getting there!

Do you ever come to the support group at BGH? I find them very motivating when I go. It's nice to talk to people who are going through the same thing as you. The NP and RN that run the group are great and very supportive. They are the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 5 or 5:30 (I'm not sure which). -
Governor Chris Christie and the Lap-Band

I am surprised his surgeon did the lapband on him when he has so much to lose. 100 lbs is really awesome though in a year. -

They only found "questionable" gallstones on my ultrasound and CAT scan when they were trying to diagnose gallstones. When they removed my gallbladder I was told it looked like a hacky sack I had so many stones. So in my opinion, the ultrasound and CAT scan can't dx anything concrete. The HIDA scan may be your best option, but like I said, your dr may have to jump through hoops in order to get other tests paid for. It does sound like it could be your gallbladder. I had surgery over 6 months ago and I just started having some pretty bad hearburn/GERD, which makes me nervous since I had a hiatal hernia repair at the same time as my sleeve. I never had GERD symptoms before surgery. -

Sounds like you could be putting on muscle? Do you keep track of your measurements? Muscle weighs more than fat, so u could still lose inches and gain weight. As for the abdominal pain, where is it? I had my gallbladder out a couple years ago because of the yoyo dieting I did. It can appear in different ways but I had pain in the right upper abdomen under my breastbone. A lot of insurances will require doctors to do certain tests before they will pay for other tests, so it might just be that the insurance won't pay for the HIDA scan until they do an upper GI. Hope they figure out what's wrong. -

I'm not sure if I had stomach spasms, but I know they kept stressing to sip and not chug/gulp. Your stomach is a muscle which pretty much was cut in half, so it will take time to heal. Just do what your doctor says and you will be good in no time!! Congrats on your new sleeve!! -

I am really not the best person to ask. The protein shakes made me feel sick and I only used them until I was able to eat my protein. But I found EAS powder that is 100% whey protein and has 26g protein and is low carb at BJs. They sometimes have coupons for it. Gnc has their own brand and is a good place to check, they have some good sales sometimes. Hopefully someone else can give you some more recommendations! -

Congratulations!! I would follow up with them if it's already been a week! I heard the same day from my surgeon and the insurance that I had been approved and to confirm my surgery date. As for preparing, I would make sure you have lots of liquid protein on hand because you are not going to want to go shopping for that stuff after surgery (protein shakes, broth, jello, etc). I also made sure that things around the house were caught up with since I knew I wouldn't want to do it for a while after surgery (laundry, etc). I also put a few books on my kindle that I had been wanting to read since you won't be doing much but walking and resting for at least the first few days after surgery. Hope that helps and good luck!! -
