    Post Op November Bansters

Yes!! Broth, strained non cream soup, and similar stuff. And thankfully I have been doing great without any issues. Keeping up my protein shakes and fluids and so far so good. Even was allowed fish and chicken, and veggies on my pre - op diet. I have found every surgeon is a little different in what works for their patients. All with the stipulations of what an individual can tolerate. So far I don't have any complaints except for some soreness which is getting better every day.

    Post Op November Bansters

Banded this past Monday November 5th. Still sore but doing so much better today. Lots of gas but using GasX strips and walking. Starting to want more than cold shakes and broth now. Went to lunch today with my wife and boys. Ordered water, unsweetened ice tea and Italian Wedding soup. Asked waitress for pretty much just broth and she said no problem. It came with some stuff in it but I just ate the broth with an occasional mushy carrot on the spoon. Waitress asked if I needed more broth and I was good with what I already had. Starting to feel somewhat normal again. Going for my follow up on Monday and should start pureed phase. So far so good! Even skipped a hole on my belt today so that made me feel good too.

    Post Op November Bansters

I was banded Monday November 5th. I was on morphine too overnight and hit that button a total of ten times before I left the hospital. I never thought the pain would be this bad but everyday I feel a little better. Now it's day three. I never vomited at all. I am taking a pain pill occasionally and I am walking and drinking my protein shakes., etc., My lower stomach muscles are sore beyond anything I anticipated. I think most of the gas pains are about gone. I say all this because it sounds like you are having what is likely typical symptoms post op except for a few added bumps. Hang in!!!! Don't get too discouraged. You will do this along with us all. We are all here to cheer you on!!!! :-)
  4. Sore!!! Moving slowly and a little pain. Definitely feeling the gas pains and using GasX strip. Had a protein shake, and pop cycle, broth and jello. Oh and hospital gave me an orange SF sherbert after my swallow test. All in all doing good so far pretty much as expected. Thought I would let those in line getting ready to get banded what they can expect although everyone is different. Pain??. Oh yes!!. Dont kid yourself but I'm on my way to really feeling better!

    Post Op Day 1

Ok now I'm day 3 post op. I'm feeling a little bit better each day. Never imagined this much pain but I am getting through it. I'm a construction guy... Use to pain and being sore. Never had surgery so this was a whole new level of pain for me. Can compare it to kidney stones a few years back. Moving better today. What hurts is getting up and down. I feel the muscles pulling under my stomach and this hurts and what is so sore. But again getting a little better each day. Not really hungry. Eating jello and broth and protein shakes. Taking a pain pill as needed. I'm walking and telling myself it will get better.

    Post Op Day 1

Had surgery yesterday at 9:30 am and was out of hospital by 11 this morning. Got a little sleep last night so I'm definitely tired today.

    Pre Op Diet

Start my one week pre-op diet tomorrow. I'm allowed up to six ounces of chicken or fish a day plus raw veggies. Not too bad in addition to protein shakes and 64oz of water, broth, etc. Plus I can have oatmeal or cream of wheat, SF. applesauce and other stuff. My pre-op with my surgeon for tomorrow was cancelled due to the hurricane. Getting banded one week from tomorrow.

    Approved !

Had my last nutrition class yesterday. Also had my preop meeting with the anethesiaologist and blood work. One appointment left next week with the surgeon and then I'm ready to go. Also starting my preop diet next week. Only one week. I was really surprised that I get to eat 3oz portions of chicken or fish plus raw veggies every day plus shakes. Even oatmeal and cream of wheat. Plus a lot of other foods. All this on preop diet one week before. Of course its small portions but its not a strict liquid diet. I am a happy guy!

Thank you!! I really don't know how long it took, lol! I started with a seminar in the beginning if August at my hospital. The doctor's staff handled everything. They were great and all my pre-op clearance doctors have been great. I was s heduled for surgery on my initial consultation in August pending all the clearances. My primary doctor was very supportive too.

    November Bandsters?

November 6th. Going through all the testing now. I'm learning a lot and the more I go to these pre-op doctors the more I am convinced I've made the right decision.
