Good luck everyone, please let us know how you are doing after surgery. Day 6 of pre op diet is going well, I weighed myself this morning &have lost 4 lbs, it's encouraging to see that dial go down! It gives me more stamina to stick it out until surgery. I'm tempted to snack on my son's food though! I'm finding coffee in the afternoon helps me curb cravings.

I'm worried too, I'm excited because I know this will help me with long term success. I have had a few surgeries before and only had gas pain once, it was bad for me only one or two days that's it. Walking really helps like they say.
-
I had the shakes yesterday at the grocery store, I went to hand throngs to the check out lady and my hand shook so much I dropped coins everywhere. I had gone too long without a shake. As soon as I had a shake at home.I was fine.
-
I'm also day 5, I used hot sauce last night on my veggies. I also had some pickled veggies, I needed something different. I'm finding it easier as the days go on. Has anyone done their pre op yet?

My surgery is on March 9th, I'm more scared of getting a fill because of the needle! When I was pregnant with my son I had to have 2 amino needles and it was excruciatingly painful. I'm dreading it!

Congratulations Nicole! How long was the surgery? I had a c section which hurt so bad for a week, I'm worried because I have a 21 month old son I need to lift in to the car seat, crib etc.... My husband travels for business, but will be home for 3 days after surgery, I hope this is enough time for me to heal.

I can have broth and boil 1-2 cups of vegetables in it, but I don't feel like eating that right now. I'm doing well with 4 slim fast high protein shakes & in the evening I have 2 cups of steamed vegetables. I have 2 cups of coffee with a dash of whole milk, bad I know!

I'm on day 3, and I feel much less bloated, been peeing a lot. I swear I've lost weight already! I forgot to weigh myself on day one, so I don't know if I did. Pre op testing on Tuesday. I'm so excited about this whole thing now. Except the anesthesia part! How's everyone feeling?

Good luck!!!!!

I was supposed to do a 14 pre op diet but I had short notice of the surgery date so I'm just doing 10 days. I just 're read my notes on what I can have, sugar free jello and popsicle s are allowed! As well as putting the veggies in a broth to make soup.

Well I did well today in the end, this is my day one. I am allowed 5 protein shakes, plus 2 cups of raw or steamed veggies. I made it through with 4 shakes and a big bowl of salad, which was yummy! I had 2 tbsp of fat free Italian dressing on it. I'm hungry now but I will just have a cup of milk before bed. I CAN do this for the next 10 days! The hardest part was feeding my 21 month old who is a very picky eater, he likes to watch me eat something before he does. I pretended!

I started pre op diet today, I'm very hungry!!!!! Oh this is hard! I had a slimfast high protein shake at 12, it's 1:20 and I'm hungry!!!!! H e l p!

I need some moral support! I got the call yesterday that I will have my surgery on march 9th, I start my protein shake diet tomorrow. I have a rush of emotions, and suddenly feel very nervous!

www.bjsbariatrics.com nectar drinks, 6gof protein, great for holding you over to the next protein shake meal!

Hi Everyone!I just got my surgery date last night, March 9th! I have to start my liquid diet on Thursday. I am really happy, but now very nervous, mostly about the anesthesia. I have had surgeries before, and I hate that moment you are put under, everyone in masks, the operating room etc... I hope they can give me something to relax. I look forward to sharing our journeys!

I love slimfast high protein chocolate flavor. I mix a lot of ice in and it tastes like melted ice cream! I tried muscle milk which I hated. I just can't imagine having 5-6 a day though, for 2 weeks!
-
Hi, I'm waiting to hear my date for March, this can't come soon enough! My surgeons office requires a 2 week 5-6 protein shakes a day and 2 cups of raw or steamed vegetables!

Any February 2013 Bandsters?
AbbieL replied to laughingatlilies's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hello! Im confused about where to post for February, is it here or on the monthly forum? I am hopefully getting my surgery date soon, the surgeons office says it will be in about 3 weeks. I am getting excited. I am not telling anyone, just my husband obviously. I do not want any judgement put on me ( which has been my whole problem since I was a child, and has most likely contributed to my weight gain.) I am currently 190lb, and 4ft 11. I may not be as heavy as some of you here, but 190 at my height is very bad! My surgeon would like me to lose 80-90lbs. I have hypertension & sleep apnea. I am a stay at home mom to my amazing 19 month old son, he is our miracle baby, we endured 6 years of infertility, un explained. It was never mentioned that my weight had anything to do with it but I suspected it. After several rounds of ivf, he came along! My main reason for the surgery is so I can be around for him, and hopefully have another baby. Well, that's me, I hope to get to know all of you better, and will post my surgery date soon, I hope! -
btw, NYU' s 2 week pre op diet seems a lot stricter than most, 5-6 protein shakes a day plus 2 cups of steamed or raw vegetables. pretty tough but I will do anything to get this surgery and to make the surgeons job easier. my primary Dr is banded and said he didn't stick to the diet, he found if too hard!
-
Hey Kateeryn, I'm also having my surgery at Nyu, with Dr Kurian. I haven't got my date yet but it should be the last week in February. they wanted me to have a sleep apnea test done before, I get the results tomorrow , after that I will be getting a date!
-
are any of you telling anyone about your surgery? how open will you be about your weight loss?
-
Wow, one real meal a day is great! I have a whole list of different shakes to have. I called my. surgeons office today to make sure they had all the info they needed, and I was told they need me to have a sleep apnea test, even if I have a mild case it will help me get approved. so I go for a consult next week. once they have that test done my approval shouldn't take too long and neither should a surgery date. where are you Mandy? I am in NY.

hi, my surgeons office just sent my application off to my insurance company, I hope to have surgery in February. I'm dreading the 2 week liquid diet, but they are allowing me 2 cups of raw or steamed veggies a day.

Bikini, or maybe just feel good in any swim suit. I want to wear fashionable clothes and not just pick clothes that cover me up. But most of all, my main reason is my son. I'm an older parent and want to be around for him for a long long time and be healthy.
