I have so much more food conscious since my surgery. I pay more attention to what kind of food is in my house. what my kids are eating and how much. I have been going through my cupboards and making single serving bags of cereal, oatmeal, grits I have written on the ziplock bags how much water to add and how long to cook it in the microwave. I made my own instant meals. I took my dehydrated refried beans, and instant mashed potatoes and have done the same thing with them. I plan on continuing this it has made it easier for my kids to decide what they want. it's made it easier for me to find something to make them. I hope that with doing this my kids will become more aware of there serving sizes. I got use to cooking for large groups of ppl. But i am learning how to cook for just my family and trying to not have leftovers and if i do i freeze them. I feel very productive again. I get to start eating soft foods tomorrow! I get so excited with each step I make. My weight loss has slowed this last week. but i know that's normal so i am not too worried. I am going to get me a note book that i can carry with me to write down all my foods. maybe that'll help to. I am still learning how to eat and i know it'll take some time. I have had to get a timer to time my dry meals i have a horrible habit of forgetting and taking a drink too soon and the timer has been awesome! This is the first year all my kids have been in school all day so it's different having the days to myself. keeping my self busy and away from food hasn't been too hard i seem to have a harder time at night after the kids have gone to bed. right now i am fighting the erg to go into the kitchen to find something.

okay so i am almost 3 weeks post-op and still have a weight restriction of 15 lbs. and tonight my 6 yr old daughter threw a fit and i grabbed her by the arm and she tried to fall to the ground but since i had a hold of her i had her 47 lbs body dangling in my grip. Now my port area is in so much pain not even the pain reliever i have works. not sure what to do other than take it easy. i tried calling the hospital but they were no help.

i tried to call my dr's office and couldn't get a hold of any one. and so i called the after hours number and the guy that answered was a moron! so i took my PR and have been laying down -
okay yesterday i asked for some of your Gauged foods. and no one knew what i was talking about. So i am going to ask again in a different way. What foods fill you up the best? Rice and Pasta's do not count. (and i want to stay away from potatoes) In order for me to get my first fill at 6 weeks i have to find my "gauged foods" foods that give me the best full sensation. I am suppose to start out measuring 1 cup at a time. if i am still hungry than get a 2nd cup food etc until i fill full. So what are some foods that fill you up the best? i've got chicken and refried beans

i've found that if you keep moving you feel better. stopping would just give your muscles time to ache but if you continue you will heal faster and your muscles will get stronger. i would maybe just take your work out down some. if it hurts to bad, STOP.

look it up on youtube they have a ton of videos

have you thought of having gastric plication done? I watched a video a while ago where they did more than just a sleeve. they basically stitched the stomach so much that it gave the person a small pouch. like what you'd get with the band or bypass it's completely irreversible they don't cut anything or rearrange anything they just take the stomachs ability to stretch away.

What Are Your Gauged Foods?

gauged foods are foods that give you a fuller sensation after eating them rice, pastas, and bread, even though they can give you the same sensation are not considered gauged foods. i'm not sure about potatoes. i'm sure they are looking for protein foods. like refried beans or chicken or fish etc. fish is not a gauged food for me at all! maybe now with LB it will be. -
the worst thing for me was my head. my thoughts and and obsession about food made things worse. find something to do when you start to think about food. if you are use to eating and watching tv get outside and go for a walk. go to the mall and window shop. look at clothes you want to fit into and imagine yourself in them. go visit family or friends. just do something! and soon thinking of food won't be a problem and you'll be okay with your shakes. and if your religious or believe in a higher power it never hurts to pray for a little bit of help.

drink shakes high in protein and use SF Jell-o when you feel like you need a snack
