  1. As if surgery can't come quick enough.... I just sat on and broke the toilet seat in our bathroom! How embarrassing and horrific. Now I have to explain to my hubby why we have to buy another one... Really?? Anyone else out there ever have anything embarrassing like this happen? Good Grief...

So, I had surgery about 2.5 weeks ago. I have been struggling with food the last few days. I have been so hungry! I am on puree's, get between 60-80 grams of Protein a day and still want "Some food to chew on". THe last few days, live had little pieces of meat, puree mashed potatoes with added protein and still find myself having cravings. I am down about 20 lbs but find myself struggling with wanting to eat father then puree's. Don't know if this whole thing is centered around "that time of the month" but struggle for sure!

Congratulations on your loss so far. Your results so far look great in your photo's! Stay motivated and keep up with your photo journal. I am taking weekly pictures so when the scale does not move, I can look back at the things I have done so far to keep me motivated. Your success so far is motivating. Keep it up and Congratulations again. Cheers.

    Things to have on hand

OKAY SO HERE YOU GO... 1: sugar free Fruit Popsicles... A lot of them 2: Crystal Light, Mio or Something you can add your Protein too so that they are not all shakes. 3: Heating Pad for sure. This is a hidden gem. 4. Make protein popsicles using sugar free pudding and 1 scoop protein. Helps get your protein in. 5. Gas X and Hydrocortisone Cream to help your scars from itching 6. Some savory broths you love. Or miso / egg drop Soup help a lot too. 7. Rent Movies... don't watch a lot of TV. Too many food commercials to add to "Mind Hunger" 8. A scale to watch your weight come off and keep you focused on getting your liquids in. 9. A pre marked cup with 4oz at each spot so you know you are getting your fluids in. For GAS pain after..... WALK AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. sleep propped up with 1 arm over your head. Normally the left side will have more pain due to more work being on that side of your body. Try to take deep breaths with your left arm bent over your head. Everyday gets better and better. And sleep with a Crazy amount of pillows. Cheers to your Success and You are going to do great. Cheers future Banster
  6. WOW, I had surgery on the 14th and felt that itch maybe a few days later. My doc took of all the bandages except for on the port. She said to leave that for another week. As for the itch, I have been using a hydrocortisone cream and it helped with it minutes! I was so greatful. I plan on picking up some Mederma or Scar Cream today to help with the healing. If you don't have any cream right now, maybe try a low fragrance lotion to help moisten the area. Best Wishes to your healing band buddy

    Any February 2013 Bandsters?

GAS pain tips.... get up and walk right after surgery before they let you go home. Arms above your head help, and deep breaths help too. These go quickly, if you stay moving. Pillows to prop you up will help too. Congrats on surgery day. You are going to do amazing. Keep us posted & Cheers to your band.
  10. Check it with your doc first, but listen to your body when you do start. Because things are sewn into place just be cautious. Walking, swimming (once surgery spots are healed), repetitive arm routines are all easy things to do while we are on restricted movement. Your motivation to get started is awesome, just wait to make sure that when you do , it counts. You are not lazy! This band is work in all it phases. Stay positive, you got this Cheers

I never thought about chicken salad... that sounds fantastic right now! I should be able to start THurs. My doc requires that you do not feel your band in order to move through stages. I have not felt my band since day 1! So i am pretty sure that I am supposed to stay on puree for 2 weeks... I am happy to know. Protein has been a good journey, weather drinking it added to Crystal Light, Mio, or made like a coffee. Stay with it, your find what you like. I miss chewing on food...lol

Hello Ladies, It's a little personal, so sorry for TMI, but is anyone having issues with "liquid in, liquid out"? I have between 600-775 cal per day and get between 58-70 grams of Protein. Today is the first day that I have had this specific issues. Been struggling with watching my whole family eat while I've been on liquids for the last 5 days. I've lost 9 lbs since surgery and have been walking daily. Fluids were a little light yesterday but other then that, things have been very positive. I see my Doc Thurs and can't wait to get to puree stage THank you for the support.

    February 14th surgeries!

Thank you everyone! Everything has been great so far. Thank you for the positive words and support.
  14. It's been a little strange at night. Had my first belly sleep last night post surgery but, the biggest this is that my husband is saying that my snoring is pretty much non-egsistant now. I had my hiatial hernia repaired but did anyone else show immediate results to stopping snoring?
  15. Destined*Lady*D

    Kinda Weird about Snoring...

What an amazing relieve to get rid of a mask and sleep slightly more comfortable. Hang in their lady, you are almost there and it will all be worth it.
  16. Got to sleep on my belly last night :)

  17. Hello Everyone, Did anyone else experience having a very tough (to the touch) and heavier belly after surgery? I have been walking however, every time I have to get up, I feel that if I don't like my belly, the pain is worse. Overall, fluids are not an issues at all and I do not feel any restriction on my band during this liquid phase. Just really curious about the toughness and feeling of being pulled down by my belly? Anyone else out have this happen? Thank you for your advice Diana
  18. Hello Everyone, I was banded yesterday AM and found out post op that I had a hiatal hernia. My amazing doc did the repair however, getting up and the diaphragm pressure is super uncomfortable. With this and the combination of the port pain, I could use some advice. I am walking around however, I can totally feel the internal swelling. Does anyone have any tips on how to make this pain more bearable besides the Pain Meds? THank you bandster's for the advice and any view points are appreciated. Diana

    Hiatal Hernia Diaphragm Pressure

Thank you everyone. I might have to look into getting a warming pack or something to lay on my chest. I appreciate it everyone.
  20. Wow, today is the day. I have the surgery at 7:30 this am. I will check in after for anyone else that has questions, but for now, PRAYERS and POSITIVE THOUGHTS are well appreciated. My name is Diana and I will talk to you all soon.

On my way to Surgery Center Now..

Thank you again to everyone, 1 day Post op and I am definitely learning to pace myself with Drinking. Overall, the majority of the Gas pain has surpassed and I am up walking around. I have walked the grocery store and will be going on another small walk around the block later today. I find that the walks help keep my sanity. I feel a little bad though, my husband brought some food, cracker and Starbursts into the bedroom this AM, I asked him to keep them in the other room out of eye range until I could at least eat something pureed. O-Well, 1 day at a time. I am so happy
  22. I am BANDED! No sleep time :)

On my way to Surgery Center Now..

THank you everyone for the Prayers and positive words. I am so grateful and very appreciative for all the support. I was able to be home by 1pm. I actually feel hungry and that my "thirst" is unquenchable. I have had 1 SF Popsicle with no problem and tried chicken broth and about threw it up. So, no chicken broth today. I might try a Protein shake later tonight. I have been able to git rid of most of my gas pain by placing my arms above my head and breathing deep. I did discover I had a hiatle hernia and the doc repaired that today as well. Defiantly still have pressure by my collar bone but it maybe 1/4 of the strength that it was coming out of surgery. Over all , I'm looking forard to recovery. Thank you again guys, and CHEERS to BandLand
