Bobberts Mom, Sounds scary whatever happened. Do you feel comfortable with the surgeon? If so, I think that is the most important part! Just make sure you keep on top of things Be knowledgeable. That is your best bet. Know what you should expect after surgery etc. Thankfully we have this great website with loads of knowledge from those who have gone this journey before us. The best part is they are happy to share! All the best to you.

Chimboree26 that is awesome! I am so happy for you. I hope you are now able to tend to what you need to with the money so that you may have a peaceful heart when your surgery time comes Psalm 34:1 I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.

BreadLady replied to kimmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
kimmom, I am so sorry to hear what you just went through! :omg: Seriously, please know someone is awake and thinking of you! I can't give any advice as I am yet to be banded (should be sometime in July). I hope you feel better real soon! Don't feel bad about your decision. You did the right thing it just doesn't feel like it right now because you just had an aweful experience. Remember you are begining a new lifestyle. I am sure it takes time to learn to live with the band. You just hit a bump in the road. Keep driving! Feel better -
Congrats malaura! :clap2: You'll have to come to the thread entitled Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters . It's for all of us being banded in July. The group is getting pretty big. Hope to see you there

Just my two cents here... I just purchased the books listed below from Amazon.com as the Borders and Barnes & Noble near me carrried none of them. Let me preface what I am going to say with I am a reader and when I want to learn about something I will research it to death I did so much research online along with the tons I have learned on this website that I must say I was disappointed with the first two books. I didn't really learn much. I spent a total of $58 on the four books. When I placed the order I figured money well spent. If I am going to have this surgery I want to make sure I know as much as possible. Now if you want all your info in one place as a resource then I would recommmend buying one of them. Probably the one by Jessie H. Ahroni. Once I get a chance to really look at the other two books with recipes I will post. I hope this very long winded message helps someone out. 1. Annicakes do a search on PB or PBing and you will see what is meant by that. I can't really explain it truly because I am not banded yet. If you want to learn more about the doctor you could also try going to ObesityHelp - Gastric Bypass, LAP-BAND® System, DS and Other Surgical and Non-Surgical Weight Loss Options. that might give you more info. Best of luck to you in the process. I am being banded in Boston in July.

Welcome mrshorne! I know what you mean about believing that anything will work at this point. I kind of feel the same way. But I keep reading on here all the success stories and that helps! All the best to you.

:clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2: I just wanted to share... I stopped by my surgeon's office today because I was at the hospital anyway (having and EGD) to see if the insurance approval had come through yet. AND YES!!!! The dr.'s assistant had just recieved it a short time before. What a sigh of relief. Eventhough I had my date I was still holding my breath on the the insurance approval. Yippee Yippee.

Hi all, I got my results from the Upper GI my surgeon requires before surgery and discovered I have a "non-refluxing hiatus hernia below a white schatzki ring" . How's that for a mouth full!!! Anyone else have a schatzki ring? When I researched it, it sure explained some things my body does that are apparantly symptoms or should I say manifestations of a schatzki ring. I go tomorrow for an EGD. This is where they go in with an endoscope (sp?) and stretch the ring. Sounds lovely (NOT). Regarding the hernia I don't know yet whether it is big enough that the sugeon is going to need to repair it when she is in there placing the band or not. On the bright side I may get my surgery moved up to July 5. My daughter's 9th birthday is the day my surgery is scheduled for (July 10) and the doctor's assistant knew this (as I keep reminding her) and today she said they might be able to do it sooner. I think I will hear tomorrow whether it is moved up to the 5th. That's all for now folks. Hope all is well with everyone else.

Congrats to you! You must be so excited. July 3rd is just around the corner

I have tried to post this 3 times. This is my last shot. Sorry if there are typos each time I try to spell check it, it just disappears. I am so in the last supper mentality. When I go out I am not denying myself. It's bad. But my doc said I didn't have to lose b4 surgery just not gain. So I keep hopping on the scale to make sure it is still on track. Am I the only crazy person feeling this way? It doesn't really bother me because there is obviously some control to it because I am not gaining. Unless of course I wake up one day and the scale says I gained ten then I will be bummin' :hungry:Thanks for listening. :hungry:

Hello all, I just found this thread. My date is set for 7/10 though I had hoped it would be sooner. When I first met with the doctor she said she thought she would be able to do it mid-June but it sure is looking like July. So I decided to post to help me come to terms with the fact that it is probably July. Glad there is a group for July people. Thanks for starting the thread Evilah

Cheri52 - I've been off the board for a while. So glad to hear you had your surgery and it went well. A BIG CONGRATULATIONS! You are on your way to a healthier you -
I have an appointment with her in May. I went to the information session at Brigham and Women's but only Dr. Lautz was there. I really like him but can't get an appt. until mid June. Dr. Vernon wasn't there because she is out on maternity leave. How is she? Did you like her? How is her staff? I'm a little nervous because I haven't met her. Any information would be ever so helpful. :welldoneclap:

Another post on this thread mentioned Mary Shomon. She is awesome. She is actually Hypothyroid. I have read a couple of her books. They are increadibly informative. It's been a while since I read them, maybe I should reread them. Mary Shomon also has a website www.thyroid-info.com very good site. I am interested to hear how you all who have been banded who are hypothyroid have done losing weight. I am in the pre-band stage. Thanks Miper70 :clap2: for your information. I knew there were other tests I should have but couldn't remember.

Cheri52 he gets up here more than I/we get down there. It's just so expensive. He has to come up here every three months to see his doctor so that pretty much is when we see each other. I bet you do know him, if not his girlfriend, who lives at Woodside. My brother is Steve and his girlfriend is Suzanne. Let me know if you know them. BTW - I have not discussed my Lap Band plans with them.
-
Cheri52 - My brother lives on the Vineyard also. He lives in Vineyard Haven at Hillside Village. WOW what a hike to get to Burlington! It's worth it I'm sure (I don't know yet as am not banded). I hope there is no more snow so you will not have any travel problems.
