Of all the issues I had, one thing that troubled me the most was when I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea earlier this year. As I was unable to use the mask consistently with my 2 year old boys sleeping with us and wanting to mess with the mask and the machine, it gave me the impetus to go change my life.
I wish I had done this sooner but my prior doctors kept telling me to avoid surgery and loose the weight on my own. Well that hadnt worked well for the last 10 years so I couldnt see the lignt at the end of the tunnel. My doctor since last one year encouraged me to seek out a lap band once I was diagnosed with the Sleep Apnea.
The approval was easy as I had BMI > 40 and obesity related diseases, so the approval came within days. Within 6 weeks, I was scheduled for surgery.
