  1. I am 9 months post op- down just 55 lbs but I am working out like crazy! I decided to sign up for a sprint triathlon over the weekend to see how FIT I was compared to the last one I did with all my weight on. I felt GREAT and ended up taking approximately 30 mintues off my sprint distance triathlon! I was SO thrilled- finished 5th in my age division- something I never could have accomplished before my WLS. This really confirms that the commitment to having the surgery and the work afterwards to lose the weight and get fit- WOW- I really have accomplished alot in just 9 months! I was at my surgeon's office last week- no fill- but he kind of wrote my name down to the side on a piece of paper. I asked him if I was in trouble- he chuckled and said- he likes to keep track of great success stories! That also boosted my ego to hear that! Just wanted to say that it is alot of hard work- but honestly- look at how this has paid off for me. I feel like so much more of an athlete that I EVER have in my life! Thaks to my WLS and also this website! I love this forum!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi all, I was banded July 27th 2012 and am just over 50 lbs lost. I feel great and truly believe exercise has been such a PLUS for me. I am very active and challenge myself all the time. Losing this weight has honestly helped me take 9 1/2 minutes off my 5k time in races! Really- I always felt like such a clod doing these races and quickly deleted the pictures taken of me at races. Now it's amazing to see what progress I have made and feel good about it. Hey Indio Girl- I'm just up the hill in Joshua Tree! It is wonderful though sharing our "50+" experiences and helping each other out. This forum has been such a blessing for me! Continued luck to us ALL!
  3. 50 lbs lost- but I look SO much better than before. PLUS- doing exceptionally well when I do runs now- already have taken off 10 mintues from my 5k time a year ago!. Six months after lap band and loving myself!
  4. Happy -- Birthday CalifTriGirl!

    Walking/jogging

I got banded July 27th- went for my first fill 9/27/12. When I told the nutrionist that I had started jogging maybe 1.5 miles out of a 5 mile walk/jog- he expressed concerns that I should probably still take it easy for awhile more- he is concerned that my pot could flip. My question to you all is how long should I expect to go without running? I am taking it easy basically, but now's the time of year I gets lots of hiking in and take off for hours on adventures. My first race isn't until January, but then I have so many big races planned in 2013. Also Theboysmom- make sure to keep us posted on your obstacle course race this month! I did a mud run last year- so much fun, but it killed my hip flexors going through all that mud! Enjoyed it so much though, such craziness! Let's all keep up the great fitness goals, it just makes me feel so much better and happier with myself!
