Thanks for the post-op advice. I may be quite deluded about what I will be able to do post-op. I guess I just don't know what to expect and maybe am overestimating my rebound. Thanks for the reality check. I should know better. I'm in the medical field. I'm probably mildly deluded, o.k moderately deluded...possibly even severely deluded. Yikes! K
  2. Hello all. My status is pre-sugical. I will have the banding procedure done by Dr. Cobourn in Mississauga on August 29/2012. I am 5'4" and weigh 196 with a BMI of 34. I am a little apprehensive about the procedure, with some anticipatory concerns. I don't require the Meditrim treatment. Uncertain as to how my recovery will be. I have taken 3 days away from work but need to attend class the evening of the procedure. Hubby will drive me to class as I am not sure that I will be in any state after a general anaesthesia to drive, let alone learn. Hubby and 14 year old daughter are the only ones who know that I am undergoing procedure, but I think it may have been a mistake to confide in daughter. She was the one who told me about 2 of her friend's moms who had the procedure...so these girls talk amongst themselves and don't get the 'confidentiality' aspect of it. I must admit that when she told me about the 2 moms I was surprised...they hadn't told me and had given really plausible explanations for their rapid weight loss, i.e dumping a nasty spouse, and obsessive elliptical use. I guess you confide on a case by case basis. I'm not sure yet but I suspect that I will essentially be a 'closet-bander'...So all the pre-surgical stuff is done...need a pedicure, a root touch up, shave the legs etc. I have watched surgeries but never had one. I guess it is like when you have a baby...you try to control the variables that you can. If I am knocked out, and slack-jawed on the surgical table, I will at least know that I did my best to look presentable. Is that vain...or has anyone else felt that way?
