    October 2012 Bandsters

So my surgery date was Oct 17. I started at 262. I have been stuck at 224 for a month plus. As of this morning I am very proud to say I am at 199!!!!!! Onederland! My wedding is in August and my goal is 170 by then. I can now see it in my horizon!

    NSV

Today after a great therapy session, I got up and left. Halfway out the door I stopped dead. I realized that for the first time EVER I was able go get up and walk away without having to pull up my pants from rolling under my belly. Very good feeling.

    C-Section

Not as bad as a c-section but more post surgery pain. They keep u pretty well drugged after the c-section but not with lapband. Enough to be comfortable but def still feel it. Did not feel able to function with no pain for three weeks after lapband
  4. ME! I ate a Lyle bite of everything, finished up with 2oz of turkey w/ gravy and LOST 1lb! Best of all I felt great after eating while everyone else looked miserably stuffed. I can honestly say I don't miss that! I was a little bad and did partake in the family tradition of crown shots but I only had two, diluted with water. All in all it was a very successful night!

    Who Lost On Thanksgiving?

Yes I agree and I know... Tracking can only help. I guess to explain it better its more of a personality flaw for me than anything else. I could never remember to take my pill on time- now I have twins, I have to set multiple alarms (including my bf) to remind myself to take my meds daily, I realized the other day I haven't taken my MV in over a week. I'm a scatterbrained mess really. For me what I eat has never been as much of a problem as how much. I don't eat sugar, fast food, or overly processed food. I don't like much meat and I dont drink soda. I'm very aware of what I'm eating daily, right now it's not much because I can't yet eat all the veggies I'm used to and craving. The one thing I miss most since being banded is sparkling water-I know I'm living on the wild side over here! I'm not disagreeing with u abt tracking, I watched my mother lose 80lbs and keep it off 20 years with a lot of tracking. I'm also not ruling tracking out of my future. But right now, it's not for me.

    Who Lost On Thanksgiving?

I disagree. I know myself very well and tracking ANYTHING is not for me. To say I'm cheating myself is more judgmental than encouraging. I admit I'm new; 6 weeks post op, but I have been successful; 34lbs down. Remember this is a personal journey for all of us and just because it works for u does not mean it works for us all

    Who Lost On Thanksgiving?

Believe me, I wish I was a tracker, I am just not hard wired like that. For example I have prob only tracked 3-5 mens cycles in my life (I'm 30). I don't know y but it is the hardest thing for me to remember. It's been an issue all my life, my mother is a public health nurse who tracks everything and has always tried to get me to track to no avail. Now that I am SAT with two year old twins tracking is just way beyond my scattered mom brain and lifestyle. I hope to one day be a tracker, it would prob help in many areas of my life...

    Who Lost On Thanksgiving?

I weigh myself twice daily. It's important for me to SEE how my daily eating habits affect my weight loss. Not for everyone, but it works for me. I'm not much of a food tracker. I have always had a hard time tracking anything.

    First Fill

One moth post op 25lbs down and first fill today. I stopped losing for a couple weeks but recently started again and lost the 3 lbs I gained back plus 7. It's amazing what a difference 25lbs makes..
  11. I have to disagree with you about omitting the yolk. Although the yolk does contain the majority of the cholesterol content of the egg, it's a valuable source of nutrition. I believe in moderation. Check it out http://www.fitday.com/fitness-articles/nutrition/healthy-eating/healthy-breakfast-one-whole-egg-vs-two-egg-whites.html
  12. Yes! I have to say quiche is one of my never fail go to recipes. My BF works very early morning at ups. I make a large batch of quiche bites once/month. Pour it into mini cupcake pans. Perfectly portioned quiche bites
  13. Also quiche freezes very well. Cut portions and freeze. Reheat for breakfast, lunch, or dinner
  14. One of my favorite things to make is a crust less quiche... I don't usually go by recipes so measurements are estimated... 1 doz eggs 1/4-1/2 cup skim milk 1large onion diced 1 cup Protein ( chicken, turkey, ham..) 1 cup veg ( broccoli, spinach, asparagus...) 1 tsp nutmeg Salt and pepper to taste Mix veg/onions/protein in pie pan. Whisk eggs and milk in separate bowl, pour into pie pan. Bake 30-40 mins on 375, or until fork comes out clean. Let cool 10 mins b4 serving. Should make two 9" pies. I find that a quiche is a super easy meal with major impact. People always think you worked really hard but it's one of the easiest dishes to make. Enjoy!

    Pre Op Diet

Sugar free redi whip is my savior! When I'm really wanting something bad, I freeze my Protein shake, top with redi whip and have a shake!

    Pre Op Diet

I miss veggies! I can't wait until I can have some kale! I think the hardest part of the pre/post op diet for me is the lack of real food. I mean one can only have so much Soup and Jello

    Pre Op Diet

10/17. I am currently on soft foods/mushies. Today I was able to eat one small meatball and it was like Christmas morning!

    Pre Op Diet

Yes! During pre-op I had what my BF lovingly referred to as "poop soup" so not cute. The Protein shakes make u go and with all the liquid-well u know. Anyways I wouldn't worry, it's pretty normal
  19. Refried beans, mashed potatoes, eggs, cottage cheese, grits, cream of wheat. So far I've had eggs, mashed potatoes, and Refried beans. Also I stewed chicken in the crockpot with chicken broth and taco seasoning. Going to try that today!

How Do I Get Enough Protein???

I had surgery 10/17. First mushy food was Refried beans. I have been able to eat a few spoonfuls b4 I'm stuffed full. Mostly sticking to a liquid diet although doc approved mushies. My stomach is still very sensitive to everything. I'm finally starting to feel back to normal. Currently trying to deal with what my therapist calls my "food mourning". Right now feeling like I hate my band. I'm hungry, frustrated, tired, and I want a piece of pizza! This too shall pass...

    Abdominal Binder

I agree! After much searching the HUB found my binder from my c-section two years ago. So glad I saved it! Made walking and standing much more comfortable! Just make sure to take it off when u can- ur incisions need to breathe to avoid infection
  22. Feeling pretty good today. Pain is gone except at port, was able to lower pain dosage but not cut it out completely. I can say that I woke up this morning STARVING! One week post op apt this afternoon, hoping I get cleared for mushies. Dreaming of stewed chicken, Refried beans, and eggs!

    One Week Post Op

Lol. I paid, had Romney fone it I might have been swayed! I almost felt bad for him. He really didn't know what he was getting into opening up that can of worms with me!

    Please Pray For Me

You will do fine. I'm one week post op. I was terrified. It'll be over b4 u know it. Keep us posted!
  25. Try sitting on the commode with ur feet on a stool, or a stack of phone books, whatever gets u into a squat. Sit for a bit u might start to let some go. Also try a little milk, always makes me go...
