The gas was the worst part of the surgery for me, I slept at night in a recliner and kinda sat up, and move around as much as possible, Heat pad will help too... Good luck

Why people and studies are so negative about lapband

Losing your hair is a result of not taking in the proper nutrition, be sure if your not getting all the vitamins and nutrients from lack of food be sure your taking supplements like vitamins and a nutrition shake........therefore losing hair and healthy do not go together........ Unfortunately with any weightloss surgery there is a lot of trading one problem for another. You have to find the balance

Why people and studies are so negative about lapband
tmurphy replied to alicelopes's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know and have known something is wrong, I went back to my surgeon and all he said was. " stop eating bad food " but didn't offer any more of a solution to being able to eat the good food, so all I could do was rely on myself and the info I was provided. So i am a bit reluctant to go back to my surgeon but I have no alternatives to go to, I guess I'll make an appointment for a slight unfill and adjust my diet and see how it goes -

Why people and studies are so negative about lapband
tmurphy replied to alicelopes's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
All of my pre op info is completely different t then the info in this link, I was told you eat, it goes to the pouch and gives you a full feeling and should then take 4-6 hrs to then feel hungry again, And the hospital/ surgeon are supposedly top in the nation out here near Chicago .....l, so now I'm totally lost based on info you guys have here in the forums...... Makes no sense, I can choke and puke on a bite size piece of chicken but I can eat a bag of Doritos without blinking. And no choking -

When I went to all the meeting and pre op stuff it was explained that once the pouch is full I will feel full, If the band doesn't make u feel anything to signal your full and it doesn't prevent u from eating things it serves no purpose, Anyone with a little will power can go on a diet of 1000 calories and. Make sure u eat decent food without having a silly band surgically implanted that makes u puke.......l if it does nothing why have we all opted for the torture device? -

I'm sure the band has done well for a lot of people and I just feel people on here that are pre op need to hear both sides. And be FULLY informed of possible negative effects of the band, Had I heard from people like myself or if my surgeon told me upfront. "Hey u know a lot of people don't do we'll and come back for gastric bypass". I would have thought harder, Now I'm stuck with this thing that makes me puke a few times a week and my only choice is to have a total unfill and live with it, I'm now below the BMi to qualify for gastric bypass and insurance Won't pay for this thing to be removed, and that's another thing I see a lot of people on here talk about having it removed when they reach their goal, my surgeon told me it is not intended to be removed -
Why people and studies are so negative about lapband

I know some of my issue are he choice in foods I eat, but my options are severe pain or puking or eating food that is not as good for me but digests ok, the other problem I notice is, if I eat. Food that does digest ok there is no full feeling from the band, So basically all the band has done for me is forced me into a diet of less then good food. For me I'm at the point that I feel the band the was a big mistake, and does nothing other then make me sick, it doesn't make me feel full with less food and its imparting my ability to eat nutritious food since solid proteins are pretty much not a choice. -

Watery foods are not recommended by the doctors. My surgeon has stressed dry solid food is what the band is meant to work with, But yes cookies and stuff like that does go down no problem but chicken and meat is very hard , I can't explain it myself..... Protein shakes, yogurt, oat meal are ok but there again it's liquid........ My wife had gastric bypass so I know all the ins and outs of that, and I also wouldn't recommend that surgery -

Well I'm almost 2 yrs post op, I've had a few complications have never reached my goal and am now gaining weight again, I started at 305lbs. Got down to 235 and am now back at 270... When I got to 235 I basically puked every time I eat, I now puke at least 1-2 times a week, the only food that digest decently are food we are not suppose to eat, you will hear people refer to them as slider food. And that is why I'm gaining, but sometimes I just want to eat without puking, My dr has told me straight out most people come back for gastric bypass because they are not satisfied with the band. Had I known all this ahead of time I would not have done lap band Good luck -
So it's been almost 2 years, I started at 305 lbs at my lowest I made it to 230 and that was basically puking everything I ate back up, I'm now back up to 270. All my dr can tell me is well do eat that or u should eat more dry solid food. Well dry old food makes me puke or feel horrible. Basically if I eat and it feels like something is stuck. If I get sick or wait long enough it passes and then I can eat like normal as if I don't have a band. So what's the point, all I have done is had something it in me that makes me feel like crap

Lapband failure / waste of time and money
tmurphy replied to tmurphy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I say dry solid food because that is what the dr stresses..... I don't want to have an unfill at all because I, already gaining weight back, And I have 1 of 2 situations. Either i get sick or feel no restriction at all...... Honestly I would never recommend this procedure to anyone, the only thing I've tried that helps me lose and I don't get sick is I went back and did the pre of shake diet......protein shakes for 3 meals a day...... Lost weight and never got sick but who can live like that -

After having such poor results with this and seeing the side effects of my wife's gastric bypass I don't Gino I'd opt for any other surgerys even if I could, I'm half temped to have the dr loosen the band fully and ill just get a serious excersise routine to lose the weight -

Yeah I know all about being your best advocate, my wife has a lot of health issues, last i saw him he did an X-ray and said it all looked normal, and just said it was my diet and food choices , but as I said The recommended dry solid food just makes me sick -
Lapband failure / waste of time and money
tmurphy replied to tmurphy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There is no rhyme or reason when I get sick, I can take 1 bite of like potato or like Xmas day. First bite of pasta I ended up puking. And like I said after I get sick if I wait a few minutes I can then eat as if I never had the band. And I don't feel any restriction. But the idiot dr has no decent input -

Also my wife had gastric bypass yrs ago. She saw the surgeon same as my surgeon and she discussed my issues with the dr and he said well the band could be erroding or slipped....... My bad is not even 2 yrs old!! Erroding??? He said most people with Lapland often opt for gastric bypass later do to not having success with the band...... So now I've lost enough weight that even if. Wanted to I would not qualify for gastric bypass with insurance and don't have cash to pay for it -
