I miss hot food and cold drinks. I miss food being my reward for everything. I miss not thinking about what I was eating and just stuffing myself with whatever. I miss decadence. I love to cook and I love to feed people and I used to love to eat. I throw away so much food and really dislike eating left overs because I have them constantly now. I feel so much guilt about wasting food and money on food that some days its just easier to be hungry. I miss what I thought was normal. I don't miss the 35lbs I've lost since being banded. I don't love my band yet, but I think we might be getting used to each other...a little bit. Jean Omeiri 310/266/235 goal 160

Hi Jennye, I have a theory about why restriction is greater when you drink less Water. When you drinking enough water your body processes it and things run along just fine. If you don't get enough your body will assume it needs to keep all it can so organs and all will retain water, thus swell and have more restriction. When I drink a lot of water I'm less restricted too. If I eat a lot of salt, more restriction. just a theory! cheers j

Hi everyone, I need some advice, I'm about four weeks post op and according to the diet my doctor gave me, week four is when you start eating solid food. So went to dinner at my aunts house and maybe I over did it? (small piece of chicken tender, two table spoons of each rice, hummous, tabouleh)...The upper part of my stomach has been sore since. It hurts when I burp or hiccup. I can't take a deep breath, bend over, drink anything very cold without feeling some kind of discomfort. Took it really easy today. soft bran ceral, and roasted veggies for dinner. any thoughts? j

That's excellent Dan! I'm hoping to be in the same boat. I'm four weeks post op and feel pretty restricted all the time. Getting enough Water is whats hard for me. I'm curious, are you excercising? How have you changed your eating habbits? Hope you don't mind the personal questions...I'm just really uneasy about the fills and would like to delay it as long as possible. j

Marsha, I was diagnosed with ir also but stopped taking the metformin because it made me feel sick all the time. It cause my blood sugar to drop since I wasn't getting enough food. How do you manage keeping your blood sugar even with the band. j

My goodness Sue, What in the world can you eat? Feeling much better today. Again taking it easy. I think that's good advice. I'm just trying to figure all this out. I feel as though I'm hardly eating with just the band on. I eat max two small meals a day, small being like two cups of food a day...and this has been a difficult emotional adjustment. I'm terrified, I mean literally terrified of how much more restricted I'll be with fills. I don't how I'll handel not being able to at least eat a cup of food per sitting. How much do people on average eat per sitting after fills? j

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone can direct me to information or has information about how a person heals internally from lap band surgory. I was banded in Mexico by an excellent docotor but he spent so much time telling me not to worry that he didn't really do a good job of educating me on the whole process. I mean I know what happended (procedure to place band) and why but I need to know what's happening now. I didn't even know that organs could produce scar tissue. How can we know that its developing as well as it should? How does food affect the production of scar tissue? Does solid food inhibit scar tissue production? I just need to know what's going on inside my body. I feel a lot of restriction, I'm three weeks post op. I just feel like if I could have information I wouldn't be so worried about everything. Also I've read about not irritating the mucus lining in the stomach and in the stoma. What irritates it and how would I know? I know I operate under the myth that if I have as much information as possible I can control something. thanks for any information you could offer. j

hi everyone, Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jean. I was recently banded (2/21/04) in Monterrey Mexico. Dr. Arturo Rodrigez is my doctor. He was really wonderful. The experience was, well sort of perfect. No complications other than being very uncomfortable from the gas. Anyway, I've been reading the messages posted and am really glad to have found such a supportive forum. I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone and learning as much as I can from everyone's persepectives. cheers j

Renata, I'm sorry to hear you're so uncomfortable. I've also just entered my second week. I've been having a lot of discomfort in my lower back and left shoulder sort of under the shoulder blade. but its been getting exponeitially better with each day. Its comforting to know that our general pains are similar. j

Hi Tina, I'be been banded for about two weeks. I haven't had to deal with fills yet but I'm preparing. As far as 1000 dollars down payment, I had my surgery in Mexico and was required to wire the Doc 2000. which was less than 10% of total surgery cost. I thought it was fair. Its worth it. Really. Its worth it. j
