Way to go!! ... I'm a Reds fan also
  3. I did the Warrior Dash before I had the lap band and when I was 200+ pounds. I didn't train for it either. I completed it with no problem. I was tired but I did it. The obstacles are do able for just about anyone. I recommend it though. It was ALOT of fun whether your big or small!!!

Haha no big deal for bashing Middletown. I personally like living there since most my family is there but that's the only reason really and since its where I grew up. Many people don't like it though no big deal

    Has Anyone Experienced This?

I had people say the same things to me. I started out 236, and im 5'2, BMI was 41 making me morbidly obese. I was banded on Oct. 19 of this year. I only told my immediate family, a few extended family, and my lose friends before hand and they were ALL vey supportive. Now when I mention it to people that I had lapband they are like "why, you dont need to lose that much." Or they say "thats a bit extreme dont you think caz you dont look like you need to lose weight." My answer at first in my head is "what have i done." But then I look down at myself and say nope i did the right thing, it HAD to be done, I need to be healthy.

    Pain

I have this pain but to the right of my belly button in between two incisions. I am 17 days post op. The pain is bad when i walk, which stinks. I called the doctor friday about it but the NP said its a normal healing process and that it is where my port is stitched in my muscle. Its been hurting like this since last thursday. The NP told me to try ibprofen and ice packs. Neither worked on this burning pain for me. They told me to call back if i needed something stronger but i havent yet because the stronger stuff just knocks me out and I cant do anything. I hope you and I are pain free soon!
  12. Hello all, Im 2 weeks post op and have been doing well but tonight i turned a certain way and started having a burnig pain to the right of my belly button in between te two icisions which I told is about where my port is. Since then it feels ok laying down or sitting down but when I stand up and/or walk the burning pain comes back. Has anyone had this pain before? Does anybody have any ideas whether this is normal part of the healing process? What do you recommend for it?
  13. I was banded back on October 19th so I am 12 days from surgery. Today is my birthday along with Halloween. So, hard to be on a controlled non-regular diet for this celebration! It is tradition for us to go out to eat for our birthdays so it is so hard to pick a restaraunt that has take out (since its trick or treat night) and accomodates a "soft diet." By reading many posts and threads on this website, I can definitely consider myself lucky to be 12 days out from surgery and already on the "soft diet" though. I needed to posts on here just how hard it is during times of celebration because some people around me do not truely understand the stuggles we have being "banded." I will definitely Celebrate with something like some ice cream but not to the point where I make myself "too full" and sick. Happy Halloween Everyone!! and good luck with the stuggles that are brought on by this candy holiday!!

    October 2012 Bandsters

Im officially and October Bandster!! Was banded today! Luckily I dont have to stay in the hosptal overnight. I was there at 1215 and out by 5. Im very excited my journey is beginning now! I lost 13 pounds pre-op which was very excitinf and a great start to this journey! My pain in my shoulder is horrible, heatig pad has eased it a little. Also the pain in my belly hurts when i get up or down or lay down, no fun but expected. I also have some nausea but i dobt think will be around for long. I did have a small hital hernia repair to my suprise. The doctor told me 8 out of 10 people usually have one. So he said i might be a little more tender from that. Anyways, i received beautiful flowers from my great group of friends and my parents gave me a little stuffed monkey with a heat on its chest, also had a note around its neck stating my mom was praying for me because she could do not go with me to have the surgery like she wanted to. My parents have been wonderful! Well, the pain meds and nausea medicine are starting to kick, time for me to rest.

    October Bandsters?

Well, I was suppose to have surgery yesterday (monday, october 15), but they called sunday and said they had to move it back to friday because the surgeon was out of town and stuck there due to bad weather. Aggravating because that means 4 more days of the preop diet! Definitely ready to be banded!!

    October Bandsters?

Well my surgery is October 15th- one week from today. I've been on the pre-op diet for a week now and still have this week to go. Its amazing the amount of different pre-op diets on this board from all the different doctors. My pre-op diet consists of Medifast protein food that I had to buy from the doctor's office I go to. I can have 5-6 protein "items" a day and eat about every 3 hours. These protein iteams range from oatmeal, soups, drinks, bars, pudding, smoothies, etc. On top of these foods I am allowed unlimited broths, SF jello, SF kool-aid. Im definitely ready for this pre-op phase to be over. Food isnt horrible but its nothing you would want to continue to eat. Its also amazing the amount of different post op diets there are out there from the different doctors. Luckily I only have to be on liquids for 24 hours after surgery, then its pureed foods (which means I can blend anything in the blender) for 2 weeks, then if all goes well, the next two weeks will be soft foods, so in about a month I will be on regular foods if all goes well. Not bad at all =) and im VERY excited! ALSO, my doctor has already given me my prescriptions for an anti-nausea and pain medicine so I will be prepared for when I go home! =)

    Is Blending Cheating?

If your in the preed stage of the diet, it wouldnt be cheating. My dietician stated that you can put anything in a blender and blend it for the pureed stage. She said just to be smart about what goes in the blender healthy vs non healthy

    St.marys Ohio

Hello Ladies!!! I'm Emily from Middletown, Ohio, which is just south of Dayton and just north of Cincinnati. I am on day 3 of my medifast pre-op diet that Dr. Curry prescibed. My surgery is scheduled for Oct 15 which can't seem to come fast enough. The food on this diet is okay, nothing to rave about as some of you ladies know. Do you ladies that have had the surgery, have any advice for those who havent? =)
